Announcer's Drew Lock praise awfully timed with Seahawks QB's interception

Talk about bad timing. Seahawks analyst and former NFL fullback Michael Robinson praised quarterback Drew Lock during the team's preseason opener against the Raiders on Friday night, only for the announcer jinx to strike a few beats later. 'When you've got a veteran quarterback who is your backup quarterback, he's just not going to put the ball in harm's way,' Robinson said. 'He's not going to make the critical mistakes that you see young quarterbacks make, especially in the preseason.' Just two plays later, Lock threw an interception. He was picked off by Raiders safety Isaiah Pola-Mao on a pass intended for Seahawks wide receiver Tory Horton down the left sideline in the first quarter. Drew Lock throws a pass during the Seahawks-Raiders preseason game on Aug. 7, 2025. AP 'What a play,' Robinson said. 'After we just talked about Drew being smart with the football. Right there, just a little bit of an underthrow.' Lock returned to the Seahawks this offseason on a two-year, $5 million deal after spending last year with the Giants. He previously played in Seattle for two seasons in 2022 and 2023 after spending the first three years of his career with the Broncos. Michael Robinson played for the Seahawks between 2010 and 2013. X / @RealMikeRob He completed 12 of 22 of his passes for 147 yards, a touchdown and an interception during Thursday's game. Robinson had an eight-year NFL career, the first four with the 49ers and the last four with the Seahawks, with whom he won a Super Bowl. Thursday's game ended in a 23-23 tie. The Seahawks sat most of their starters, including quarterback Sam Darnold, who agreed to a three-year, $100.5 million deal in free agency after a renaissance run with the Vikings in 2024. Seattle opens the regular season against San Francisco on Sept. 7.

Seahawks QB accidentally jinxed into throwing pick by broadcaster

Former Seattle Seahawks player and current broadcast analyst Michael Robinson accidentally jinxed quarterback Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock during the latter's 2025 home preseason opener on Thursday night. As Lock took starting snaps for Seattle in the preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Robinson mentioned on the game broadcast that a benefit to playing Lock was that he was "just not going to put the ball in harm's way." The point was valid in the sense that Lock gave the Seahawks a steady veteran to guide its second-team offense during early preseason snaps in a way a younger player couldn't. However, Robinson didn't do Lock any favors as the veteran quarterback threw an interception just a couple of plays after the broadcaster's comment. Whoops! Well, it happens. Lock isn't immune to throwing picks, even in preseason competition. Robinson will probably get a good laugh out of this once he reflects on his accidental jinxing of his former team's quarterback. When did Michael Robinson play for the Seahawks? Robinson played fullback for Seattle from 2010-13. Teen brutally assaulted outside Simi Valley movie theater says attack was racially-motivated

A teen is speaking out after he said he was violently assaulted by a group of teens in a racially-motivated attack outside a Simi Valley movie theater. On Aug. 2, Michael Robsinon, 18, was enjoying a night out with friends near Regal Cinemas on Tapo Canyon Road when a group of intoxicated, hostile teenagers started by picking on his friend, with whom they had prior issues. They reportedly punched his friend in the face before turning their attention to Robinson, yelling racial slurs at him. 'They hit one of my friends in the face first,' Robinson said. 'Then, they hit another. Then, they rush me and I'm in between two cars. I managed to get out from behind the two cars and I run into the parking lot. As I run into the parking lot, they proceed to slam me into the hood of somebody's car and jump me.' Cell video captured by a witness showed the teen assailants repeatedly punching and kicking Robinson as they surrounded him in the parking lot. Robinson tried running away, but they followed. At one point, he tried to shield himself with a chair as the group moved in and hurled profanities at him. He asked a mall security guard for help, but said the guard refused to intervene. 'They still caught me, and when they caught me, they decided they were going to put my head in the trash can and proceeded to hit me in the back of my head,' Robinson said. Video of the assault, which was widely circulated on social media, has prompted community outrage and concern. Some social media users have described the incident as a 'horrific anti-Black racist hate crime.' The attack left Robinson with cuts, bruises and a chipped tooth. After Robinson and his mother reported the attack, a criminal investigation was launched. Robinson said he had no association with any of the assailants. On Aug. 3, four teens were arrested for battery. A department spokesperson confirmed that one of the teen suspects is the son of a Simi Valley police officer and noted that the officer would not be involved in the investigation. During a Simi Valley city council meeting on Aug. 4, residents called for justice, with many saying the suspects needed to be held accountable for their actions. 'What happened on Saturday is a hate crime and I urge you to ask the DA to investigate and prosecute it as such,' one resident said. 'Hate crimes cannot continue to be swept under the rug,' a young resident said. 'On behalf of the Black student body of Simi Valley, we demand justice for Michael Robinson.' Jamal Tooson, the attorney representing Robinson, said he and many others are calling for an equitable investigation. 'The entire county of Ventura is watching and, broadly, on a national level, we are going to be looking to see how this situation is handled,' he said. Robinson said that by sharing his story, he hopes to not only bring awareness to such issues, but that it will prevent another person from being attacked in the same way. 'I forgive [the attackers], but there are consequences to your actions,' he said. The four teenagers have since been cited and released. KTLA has reached out to the Ventura County District Attorney's office for an update on whether hate crime charges will be filed and is awaiting a response. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Family of victims in deadly hit-and-run in Livonia speak out

Family of victims in deadly hit-and-run in Livonia speak out Family of victims in deadly hit-and-run in Livonia speak out Family of victims in deadly hit-and-run in Livonia speak out On the night of June 29, Michael Robinson got a call he will never forget. "I turned the corner, and I saw my wife fall to the floor, and I knew something was definitely wrong," said Michael Robinson. His daughter, Tia Robinson, and her 3-year-old twins were struck as they were walking near Lyndon Street and Merriman Road in Livonia. Tia Robinson and her daughter were seriously injured, and her young son was killed. "We had no idea the devastation that we would be facing," said Michael Robinson. Police say the driver accused in the hit and run, 55-year-old Tammy Sandoval of Mt. Morris, originally took off and was later arrested. She faces several charges, including driving with a suspended license and failure to stop at a scene causing serious injury and death. Her bond is set at $600,000. Michael Robinson says he is still processing his feelings around Sandoval's arrest. "I'm not mad at her, I'm not upset, and hold no grudges. The best way I can say it is I really don't know how I feel," said Michael Robinson. Michael Robinson says his daughter remains hospitalized, recovering from severe injuries. "Nothing's changed; they have her still sedated," said Michael Robinson. He says his young granddaughter is doing much better, having been released from the hospital this week, and is now back home with family. "She's all scratched up, scarred up, but she has no broken bones or anything," said Michael Robinson. Michael Robinson says the support from the community has been incredible, namely the thousands of dollars raised by the Livonia First Responder Foundation to help. "They have showed us more love than we would ever imagine, and for them to reach out to us and extend the hand of gratitude, as they've done, and all the people that have donated, we really and truly appreciate it," said Michael Robinson. As their family navigates a long recovery, Michael Robinson says they are leaning on each other during this tragic time. "My daughter, she would move heaven and earth for her kids. She loved her children very dearly, and this is going to be hard to let her know that she lost her baby," he said. If you would like to support Tia Robinson and her family, reach out to the Livonia First Responder Foundation.
