Panthers to sign UFL MVP Bryce Perkins
Andy Dalton left Saturday's game with an elbow injury, so the Panthers are adding a quarterback to the roster for the final week of the preseason. The Panthers cited multiple reports that they plan to sign 2025 UFL MVP Bryce Perkins. There's no word on any corresponding move at this point. Perkins won the MVP and offensive player of the year awards for his play with the Michigan Panthers this spring. Perkins threw for 1,342 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 269 yards and five scores. He was also with the team in 2024. Perkins spent three seasons with the Rams after going undrafted in 2022. He played in five games and made one start during the 2022 season. With Dalton injured, Jack Plummer was the only healthy quarterback behind Bryce Young in Carolina. The Panthers do not plan to play their starters against the Steelers this week, so Perkins was needed as another available body in the coming days.

Broncos roster: OLB Andrew Farmer (No. 53) seeking breakthrough
Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at third-year outside linebacker Andrew Farmer, No. 53. Before the : Farmer (6-3, 252 pounds) played collegiate football at Lane College, an HBCU (Historically Black College or University) in Jackson, Tennessee. After totaling 114 tackles and 17.5 sacks in his final two seasons with the Dragons, Farmer signed with the USFL's Michigan Panthers before ultimately changing his mind, deciding to join the Los Angeles Chargers for the 2023 season. In 2023, Farmer played in eight games, making three total tackles (two solo, one assisted). Farmer began the 2024 season on the Chargers' practice squad before being released by Los Angeles in early September. The Denver Broncos quickly signed Farmer to their practice squad later in September. Broncos tenure: Prior to being signed by the Chargers, the Broncos "spent considerable time" with the linebacker at the 2022 Hula Bowl, so he was not unfamiliar to the team. Farmer spent the rest of the 2024 season on the Broncos' practice squad. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Likely competing for a practice squad spot. The Broncos know Farmer's value, and he's likely a strong candidate to spend another season on the practice squad. If any injuries should arise to the starting OLB corps, Farmer could be a candidate to be elevated to the active roster in 2025. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans. Cardinals sign CB Keni-H Lovely
The Cardinals have added another cornerback. Arizona announced on Monday that the club has signed Keni-H Lovely. Lovely spent time with the Bills last offseason before heading to the UFL to play for the Michigan Panthers. He ended the season with 26 total tackles, four pass breakups, and an interception returned for a touchdown. This is the third UFL player the Cardinals have signed recently, having added defensive lineman Kyon Barrs and cornerback Steven Gilmore. Arizona did not have to make a corresponding move, as the club had an open roster spot.

UFL relocating Michigan Panthers out of Detroit, report says
The Michigan Panthers, which was founded in 2022, may be relocating out of Detroit, according to a report. Pro Football Newsroom's James Larsen first reported on the relocation. A source could not confirm whether the team was moving but told CBS News Detroit that six of seven people at the franchise's front office were laid off, which was considered to be unexpected. In a statement, the UFL said, "Every year, the League office looks at planning for next season and beyond. At this point, we have nothing to report on any unauthorized speculation." "What we're seeing this year is a much larger percentage of full timers being let go from their roles, and folks that need year-round jobs if you want your market to survive," Larsen told CBS News Detroit. Larsen says this includes marketing and ticket sales personnel who boasted some of the best attendance improvements in the league last season for the Panthers. "They had a 43.6% average attendance increase compared to 2024. If you're doing stuff like that and you're still getting fired, that goes to show the league has zero interest in being in this market going forward," he said. Fans can still put $50 deposits down on 2026 season tickets; however, it is unclear if there have been discussions about hosting future Panthers games at Ford Field. Larsen says the league could be moving the franchise out of Detroit due to the cost of playing there. "Ford Field is the most expensive venue the UFL has. If Michigan had won the division, they still wouldn't have been able to play that playoff game at Ford Field because of how expensive it is," he said. Larsen reported similar layoffs at the other three teams in the USFL conference (Birmingham Stallions, Houston Roughnecks, Memphis Showboats), which he reports are also subject to relocation. He says Detroit stands out due to the timing of the alleged layoffs amid an impressive period of growth. If the team does move, Larsen reports that the league could be eyeing new markets in Ohio, Idaho, Florida and Kentucky.

Broncos have signed sping football league players in each of last three offseasons
The 2025 United Football League season wrapped up on Saturday when the DC Defenders defeated the Michigan Panthers 58-34 in the championship game. With the UFL season now concluded, NFL teams can sign players from the spring league. The Denver Broncos have not signed any UFL players as of the time of this writing, but history suggests they will do their homework. Advertisement The Broncos have landed a spring league player in each of the last three years: long snapper Mitchell Fraboni (2022, USFL), quarterback Ben DiNucci (2023, XFL) and outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman (2024, UFL). Fraboni is still with the club as a key special teams player. DiNucci served as QB3 during the 2023 season, and Tillman totaled five sacks as a rotational pass rusher in 12 games last season. That's the kind of talent NFL teams can find in the UFL, but it remains to be seen if Denver will make any signings following the spring league's 2025 campaign.
