Liverpool finalise move to replace Andy Robertson
Liverpool know that they are likely to only have one more year of at the club. The Scottish left-back's contract expires next season and the signing of Milos Kerkez this summer has signified a more low-profile role for him in the upcoming campaign. He's being phased out. LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Next summer, a replacement will need to be brought in and finding someone to play as Kerkez's understudy is going to be a little bit tricky, since most signings are adamant about their playing time. But the Reds might already have a solution in mind and plans are being put in place for the operation to replace Robertson to be seamless, when the time comes. An exceptional talent waits in the wings. Liverpool agree new contract for confirmed loanee One player who has been desperate for his chance in a Red shirt is Owen Beck, who has been on four different loan moves throughout his career - Famalicao, Bolton, Dundee and Blackburn. Each time, he has come back to the club as a far more developed player and the opportunity to bring him into the first-team has been considered, but nothing has really managed to come to fruition. However, his latest loan spell is going to be at Derby County, as confirmed by Liverpool earlier on Friday afternoon, and it follows the successful agreement of a new long-term deal with the Reds. So what does this mean? Well, the 22-year-old is clearly rated incredibly highly and letting his deal until 2026 expire was not considered an option for the club. His future is going to be incredibly bright and once he returns to Liverpool next season, after a spell at Derby, he might finally get his wishes.

Milos Kerkez leaves Liverpool fans stunned as footage emerges from pre-season training
New Liverpool signing Milos Kerkez has shown fans what they can expect of him once the 2025/26 season gets underway with a hugely impressive display in training Liverpool fans have been left in awe of Milos Kerkez after spotting their new signing in a pre-season training video. The Reds signed Kerkez from Bournemouth for a fee of around £40million in June, with the left-back penning a five-year deal with the Anfield club. In doing so, the 21-year-old became their third major signing of the summer transfer window in June, following the arrival of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong. Kerkez made his debut off the bench during Sunday's emotional pre-season friendly win over Preston North End. Despite being introduced at half time, the Hungary international was able to show flashes of his lofty potential. And ahead of the 2025/26 season, Liverpool supporters were given another chance to see exactly what their new full-back is capable of as the club posted a video online of the squad's session at the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday. Kerkez was one of the several new arrivals involved and viewers were quick to point out his eye-catching intensity and work-rate. That was evident as he took part in rigorous gym activity and later a small-sided game, where he pulled off an impressive tackle on Dominik Szoboszlai. One fan on YouTube wrote: 'Kerkez's intensity is crazy even in training you can see his commitment,' while another commented: 'His footwork is insane.' A third wrote: 'Kerkez looks like a serious athlete,' as a fourth added: 'Kerkez is a beast.' Others chimed in with: 'He can potentially be the world 's best left-back,' and: 'The best signing so far for me.' Kerkez enjoyed a breakout 2023/24 season at Bournemouth before going on to make 41 appearances last term, where he featured in every Premier League game. He was signed by the Premier League champions to provide strong competition for Andy Robertson, who struggled at points last season and was linked with a move to Atletico Madrid earlier this summer. Kerkez, who is known for his electric pace and emphasis on attacking, said after signing for the club: "It's a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I'm just really, really happy and excited. "After this, I'll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can't really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season." He has 23 caps for Hungary while being named in the Premier League Fan Team of the Season for 2024/25 thanks to his contributions to Bournemouth, helping the side secure a ninth place finish in the league.

5 things noticed as Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong make Liverpool debuts in Preston win
New Liverpool signings Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez were handed debuts by Arne Slot as Liverpool started its preseason campaign with a routine victory over Preston North End on Sunday. In the Reds' first game since the tragic death of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, in a car crash, Slot's team defeated the Championship side 3-1 at Deepdale. Advertisement Conor Bradley opened the scoring with a predatory finish before the interval, and Darwin Nunez capitalized on a huge error in the Preston defense to round the keeper and double the lead. Liam Lindsay pulled one back for Preston with seven minutes to play before Cody Gakpo made sure of the win with a neat finish in the 88th minute. READ MORE: Darwin Nunez pays perfect Diogo Jota tribute with celebration after Liverpool goal vs Preston READ MORE: Liverpool fans have already made their mind up on Rio Ngumoha Naturally, the touching tributes to Jota and his brother were the biggest story of the afternoon, but the game also offered Reds fans a first look at new additions Frimpong and Kerkez. Advertisement Right-back Frimpong was signed from Bayer Leverkusen for $40 million last month, and left-back Kerkez followed from Bournemouth a couple of weeks later for a fee in excess of $50 million. Both men are set to play big roles for Liverpool this season due to the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold and the early signs of decline in 31-year-old Andy Robertson's game, and these are the things we noticed from their debuts. Jeremie Frimpong The Dutchman was introduced at the interval and showed signs of nerves in his first appearance in the red of Liverpool. A poor touch cost the 24-year-old the chance to break clear down the right wing after being picked out with an inch-perfect diagonal from another debutant in keeper Freddie Woodman. Advertisement He looked sharper when he linked up with Ben Doak on the right flank soon after, picking out the young Scotsman, who spun clear and set up an attacking opportunity. But Frimpong's control would let him down again. He had space and time in abundance when he received an accurate crossfield pass from Curtis Jones, but he could not get the ball under his spell and lost possession. The former Manchester City talent did take up aggressive positions when Liverpool had the ball, often taking residence in the half space between Nunez and Doak, who set up camp on the touchline. This was an underwhelming debut from the Durtchman, who showed signs of rust after a few weeks of rest. Much better things are to come. Robertson, the man he is hoping to oust from Slot's starting XI, tucked inside at center-back, and Kirkez relished the opportunity to roam freely on the left wing. The Hungarian made a strong first impression by showing his attacking adventure, making a darting run behind the Preston defensive line, only for Gakpo to overhit his pass. Advertisement Kirkez continued to show his attacking intent, finding Nunez with a well-weighted through ball before joining the attack and getting it back. The 21-year-old would then spin away from two defenders and win a free-kick in a dangerous position. Many of Liverpool's best attacks in the second half came down Kirkez's side in the second half, and it was the left-back who started the move that led to a big chance for Wataru Endo, whose goal-bound effort was blocked. Kerkez would later show he boasts an impressive passing range, raking a nice diagonal that found Doak in stride on the opposite flank. And in the closing stages, he displayed his defensive tenacity, snapping into a challenge and taking the ball as the game ticked into added time. This was a debut full of promise from the exciting new signing.

7 Liverpool players to watch this pre-season as Reds begin campaign at Preston
Liverpool's pre-season campaign kicks off with a trip to Preston and there are a number of players who have a point to prove ahead of the new Premier League season Arne Slot enjoyed an excellent first season in charge of Liverpool, guiding them to the Premier League title and finishing ten points above runners-up Arsenal. Slot will be hoping to repeat the feat this season and there has already been plenty of personnel change over the summer. Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman have all signed, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah and Nat Phillips have left the club. It is set to be a hugely important pre-season for the Reds as they look to bed in their new signings, while there are several fringe players and young prospects who will be looking to showcase their qualities. Here, Mirror Football takes a look at seven players with a point to prove as Liverpool kick off their pre-season with a trip to Preston... Florian Wirtz Having made a blockbuster move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen this summer in a deal worth a potential £116m, there is a lot of expectation on Florian Wirtz's shoulders. The 22-year-old was wanted by Manchester City and Bayern Munich before deciding on a move to Anfield, having produced 31 goal contributions in 45 appearances across all competitions last summer. Wirtz is set to take over the No. 10 role from Dominik Szoboszlai and will be keen to hit the ground running in pre-season and prove that it was money well spent. Giorgi Mamardashvili Giorgi Mamardashvili has joined from Valencia as a future replacement for Alisson and the 24-year-old will be hoping to become No. 1 sooner rather than later. Having impressed in LaLiga and at Euro 2024, Mamardashvili is very highly-rated and is likely to receive plenty of opportunities this season. Alisson missed a number of games last season through injury, with Caoimhin Kelleher deputising for him 20 times across all competitions. Mamardashvili has an early opportunity to put pressure on Alisson in pre-season and a series of impressive displays could leave Arne Slot with a difficult decision to make. Milos Kerkez After making a £40m move to Anfield from Bournemouth, Milos Kerkez is expected to start the season as Liverpool's first-choice left-back. Andrew Robertson came in for criticism at times last season and has been linked with a move away, although that has yet to materialise and the 31-year-old has indicated a desire to fight for his place. As a result, Kerkez will need to hit the ground running at Liverpool and continue the impressive form he showed at Bournemouth last season in order to stay ahead of Robertson in the pecking order. Conor Bradley Although new signing Jeremie Frimpong is expected to be Liverpool's first-choice right-back following Trent Alexander-Arnold's move to Real Madrid, Conor Bradley does have an opportunity to showcase his qualities in pre-season. Bradley has deputised for Alexander-Arnold in recent seasons and is approaching a crossroads in his career. Now 22, Bradley is ready to be a regular starter in the Premier League and it remains to be seen whether he will receive enough game time at Liverpool. Harvey Elliott After starring for England as they won the European Under-21 Championship last month, Harvey Elliott will be hoping to carry that momentum into pre-season. Elliott managed just six starts across all competitions last season and has spoken openly about potentially leaving Liverpool for more game time this summer. As a result, he will be looking to impress in pre-season whether he stays at Liverpool or ends up leaving. Stefan Bajcetic After a difficult loan spell at Red Bull Salzburg in the first half of last season, Stefan Bajcetic enjoyed a much more fruitful stint at Las Palmas during the second half of the campaign. Arne Slot is a big fan of the 20-year-old, having previously said Bajcetic "could become a very important player" for Liverpool, and the midfielder is facing a pivotal season. It remains to be seen whether he will be sent out on loan again, but some impressive performances in pre-season could see him handed some first-team opportunities at Anfield. Ben Doak Ben Doak impressed on loan at Middlesbrough last season, producing 10 goal contributions in 24 games in the Championship. A number of Premier League clubs are said to be interested in signing the 19-year-old this summer, but it remains to be seen what Liverpool's plans are for the winger. With Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez both linked with exits, there could be some opportunities for Doak in the first-team and some impressive pre-season performances could force Arne Slot's hand.
