Click That Brick! Santoki LEGO Home Goods
I've been reviewing LEGO sets for awhile now, most recently with the Icons Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook. And if you're a LEGO lover like myself, you may enjoy having other LEGO-related items around the house. Back in the day when we still had house phones, I even owned a LEGO touch-tone phone. With the global growth of LEGO, a company named Santoki became the exclusive U.S. distributor of LEGO LED Light and LEGO Stationery products. They offer a LEGO licensed portfolio for fans of all ages with unique lifestyle products, home goods, and stationery. Santoki recently sent me a sampling of their products to take a look at. Everything Santoki sent over. Image by Paul Benson. LEGO Minifigures Hot Dog Man, Banana Guy, Darth Vader, and Stormtrooper. Image by Paul Benson. Yes, the LEGO Minifigures from Santoki look like the regular Minifigure keychains you can get directly from LEGO. But these have been given a glowup! Not only have they been supersized to 3″, but when you squeeze the chests of the minifigures, you have a suprisingly powerful flashlight in their feet. A look at the light. Image by Paul Benson. While I wouldn't personally want to carry a Minifigure this big in my pocket, it's definitely great for clipping onto a bag. The LEGO Minifigures come in way more styles than just the ones Santoki sent over, and each retail for $16.99. You can purchase them from the Santoki store on Amazon, or directly from Santoki. Lightsabers you can write with! Image by Paul Benson. These may look like oversized LEGO lightsabers, but they're really gel pens, with the lightsaber hilt acting as the cap to the pen. The ink of each of the pens matches the lightsaber color: red, green, blue, and purple. A set of 4 gel pens is priced at $15.99, and can be purchased on Amazon or directly from Santoki. LEGO Markers 10-Pack The 10-pack of LEGO markers. Image by Paul Benson. This 10 pack of markers includes one each of violet, red, orange, yellow, lime, green, light blue, blue, lavender & black. They also have LEGO plates at the ends of the markers, so that you can stick them to each other, or to other LEGO pieces. A look at the LEGO plates on the markers. Image by Paul Benson. There's a nice variety of colors in the set, and the tips are a great size for coloring books. The set is $32.50, and can be purchased on Amazon or from the Santoki store. A box of sticky notes. Image by Paul Benson. The final item that Santoki sent over was a box of sticky notes in the LEGO 'space' theme. The box contains 4 pads of 25 sticky notes each. The notes themselves are a decent size, measuring 3″ x 5.7″. The 4 pads of sticky notes. Image by Paul Benson. The paper on the pads is thick enough so that you can color them with the LEGO markers without ink bleeding through, and the notes stick comparably to Post-It Notes. A box of sticky notes retails for $14.99, and are available on Amazon or at the Santoki store. There are also other themes available, such as Star Wars or Batman. Santoki LEGO Home Goods – Final Thoughts Everything Santoki sent over to me was of the highest quality, and definitely up to usual LEGO standards. If your child is a LEGO fan, these are great products that are both useful and also celebrate everything LEGO. And of course, they're just as delightful for the adult fan, too! These products also just scratch the surface of everything that Santoki carries. So if you're looking to bring a little more LEGO into your life, check out some Santoki LEGO Home Goods. For more information, head over to the Santoki website. Santoki sent these products for evaluation but had no input into this review. As an Amazon affiliate, I may earn a small commission on qualified purchases. A LEGO sticky note at work. Image by Paul Benson. Liked it? Take a second to support GeekDad and GeekMom on Patreon!

Click That Brick! The LEGO Icons Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook
LEGO has recently introduced a new line of sets: Book Nooks, which unfold to present scenes from the novels they are based on. The first of these is based on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes books, and gives us a scene from Baker Street. What Is the LEGO Icons Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook? The LEGO Icons Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook, set #10351, is a 1,359-piece LEGO set that includes 5 Minifigures. When opened, the set is over 8 in. high, 14.5 in. wide and 2.5 in. deep. Of course, like other book nooks it can be displayed on your bookshelf closed. The set retails for $129.99, and can be purchased at LEGO stores or off of the LEGO webstore. There are 10 bags of bricks total, as well as an additional base piece, sticker sheet, and instruction book. Given the smaller size of the set compared to what I usually build, there's a correspondingly smaller instruction book. However, it is still full of information on how the set was developed: This slideshow requires JavaScript. There are some bricks that were screen printed specifically for this set, but nevertheless, there are also some stickers that you will end up applying in the build. LEGO Icons Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook – Minifigures There are some iconic characters, including Sherlock Holmes himself, Dr. Watson, and Moriarty. I appreciated that LEGO added a bit of diversity by making Irene Adler a black woman. As usual, the assembly of the Minifigures is spread out through the build. This slideshow requires JavaScript. In a nod to The Hound of the Baskervilles, Doctor Watson even carries a clue in his briefcase: LEGO Icons Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook – Assembly As there's only 10 bags to put together, we'll just look at all the stages at once: This slideshow requires JavaScript. Here's the finished set, fully open: And here's what it looks like when it's closed and acting as a book nook: As you can see, you can arrange the Minifigures so that they fit with each other whether the book nook is in its opened or closed position. While these won't show if you have the nook nestled between books on your shelf, there are even book covers that you build for the outside of the nook. The back cover is fairly plain: But as you can see, the front cover for the book nook is another story: Besides a plethora of Sherlock Holmes Easter eggs throughout the build, there are also a couple of hidden features. Turning one of the chimneys raises a secret door, revealing Moriarty! Opening one of the upstairs balconies reveals Sherlock Holmes' study, complete with his Stradivarius violin. LEGO Icons Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook – Final Thoughts As the first of their new book nooks, LEGO really hit it out of the park with Sherlock Holmes. It manages to pack in a ton of details while still roughly maintaining the same size and shape as popular craft book nook kits. And as opposed to those kits, this LEGO set can open up into a display form so that you can enjoy the interactive features! That said, like many other Icons sets, the Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook is more suited for display than for play. Of course, the 18+ rating already tends to suggest that. The build was a lot of fun, especially discovering the hidden features during the build. The engineering of the set works very well, as it's effortless to operate those features. The nook itself opens and closes with ease. And with 10 bags, this is definitely a set that you can accomplish in a long, lazy afternoon, or spread it out over a few days if you want to take your time. After building the LEGO Icons Sherlock Holmes: Book Nook, I'm definitely excited for future book nook sets. This one was so thematic and dynamic, LEGO has already set themselves a high bar. But I'm confident they can rise to the challenge. Click That Brick! Click That Brick! is a look at LEGO building sets that appeal to the geek in all of us. I'll be bringing you previews and reviews of various LEGO sets, such as the LEGO Ideas Botanical Gardens. So be sure to keep your eyeballs peeled for more great LEGO content here on GeekDad. Disclosure: LEGO sent me a set for evaluation, but had no input into this review. Liked it? Take a second to support GeekDad and GeekMom on Patreon!

LEGO fans can build a vending machine that dispenses Minifigures
LEGO fans can build a vending machine that dispenses Minifigures The machine vends mystery sets for you to build The LEGO Group has announced the launch of the LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine set; a retro-inspired building set designed for adults - with 1,343 pieces. I insert the included LEGO coin, turn the handle, and release one of 16 capsules, each containing bricks to build a minifigure. Each figure is a surprise, featuring nostalgic themes like Castle, Paradisa, and Fabuland, as well as Classic Space explorers and even the LEGO Ideas Fan Designer who uploaded the product idea to The functional brick-built vending machine offers collectors exclusive, nostalgic minifigures. The LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine set was submitted by Belgium-based Fan Designer, Rob Vangansewinkel, as part of the LEGO Ideas programme. LEGO Ideas allows fans to submit product ideas, which are then voted for by the community before being considered to be made into a real LEGO set. Rob said: 'As a kid, I had a real vending machine at home and loved it - so the idea of creating a working LEGO brick version that dispenses minifigures just clicked. I started with a digital version of the model and posted it on LEGO Ideas. But I wasn't sure if the dispensing mechanism would really work, so I spent about two months testing and refining the design with actual LEGO bricks. I even took apart my old vending machine to understand the mechanics and make it work, and I'm so proud of the final product." Article continues below The set blends LEGO building techniques with a true-to-life vending mechanism, complete with a click as you turn the knob. The LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine set is available for LEGO Insiders early access from June 1, 2025, and for all from June 6, via and LEGO Stores, priced at € 169.99 / £ 149.99 / $ 179.99.
