Taylor Swift 'bursts into tears' as she gives huge update on album after huge wait

Taylor Swift 'bursts into tears' as she gives huge update on album after huge wait Taylor Swift has announced that she has bought back the master recordings of her first six albums from Shamrock Capital after a prolonged battle Taylor Swift announced that she bought back her master recordings (Image: taylorswift/instagram ) Taylor Swift has finally done it - she now owns the master recordings of her first six albums, closing a chapter in a fight that's lasted more than six years. The deal ends her association with Shamrock Capital, who bought the catalogue from Scooter Braun in 2020. In a heartfelt message to fans, Taylor confirmed she now holds full ownership of her original albums: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. It's a full-circle moment for the artist, who's spent years re-recording her work and speaking out about artists' rights ‌ In a handwritten note to her supporters published on her website, Taylor wrote: "I'm trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent, but right now my mind is just a slideshow. A flashback sequence of all the time I daydreamed about, wished for, and pined away for a chance to get to tell this news." For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter ‌ The pop singer profusely thanked her fans for helping her fulfill her life-long dream (Image: taylorswift/instagram ) "All the times I was thiiiiiiiiiiis close, reaching out for it, only for it to fall through. I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that's all in the past now. I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found that this is really happening. I really get to say those words. All of the music I've ever made ... now belongs ... to me." Taylor shared that as part of the deal, she had gained ownership of her music videos, concert films, album artwork, photographs, and previously unreleased tracks, reports the Mirror US. ‌ She added: "To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it. To my fans, you know how important this has been to me - so much so that I meticulously re-recorded and released 4 of my albums, calling them Taylor's Version." The Grammy-winning artist extended her gratitude to her devoted followers for their fervent support of her re-recorded albums, as well as their contribution to making The Eras Tour a spectacular triumph. Taylor noted that the profits generated from her world tour enabled her to purchase back her musical repertoire. Taylor also noted: "I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but I have never owned until now. All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy. I will be forever grateful to everyone at Shamrock Capital for being the first people to ever offer this to me. ... My first tattoo just might be a huge shamrock in the middle of my forehead." ‌ Responding to the anticipation around a 'Reputation Taylor's Version', she admitted: "I know, I know. What about Rep TV? Full transparency. I haven't even re-recorded a quarter of it. The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it. "All that defiance, that longing to be understood while Feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief. To be perfectly honest, it's the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn't be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, or photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off. "There will be a time (if you're into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch. I've already completely re-recorded my album, and I really love how it sounds now. Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about. But if it happens, it won't be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have. It will just be a celebration now. ‌ "I'm extremely heartened by the conversations this saga has reignited within my industry among artists and fans. Every time a new artist tells me they negotiated to own their master recordings in their record contract because of this fight, I'm reminded of how important it was for all of this to happen." Taylor wrapped up her heartfelt note saying: "Thank you for being curious about something that used to be thought of as too industry-centric for broad discussion. You'll never know how much it means to me that you cared. Every single bit of it counted and ended us up here. Thanks to you and your goodwill, teamwork and encouragement, the best things that have ever been mine... finally actually are." She affectionately concluded her message to her supporters with "Elated and amazed, Taylor." Article continues below

Hugh Jackman And Deborra-Lee Furness Finalise Divorce After Nearly 30 Years

Last Updated: Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness finalize their divorce after nearly 30 years, agreeing on a $387 million settlement. Actor Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have finalised their divorce after nearly three decades of marriage and agreed on a settlement to divide their $387 million fortune. Almost two years after Deborra-Lee and Jackman announced their split in September 2023, she officially filed for divorce in a New York court on May 23. The divorce is uncontested and now only awaits a judge's approval. A Mirror US report quoted sources saying the settlement process was amicable and free of drama, giving both parties the necessary closure. Reportedly, the couple had not signed a prenuptial agreement when they married, believing their union would last forever. However, the absence of one had initially complicated financial discussions. After several months of negotiations, both Jackman and Furness have reached a mutual agreement which covers alimony, asset division, and children's expenses. Furness is said to be pleased with the 'handsome" spousal support she will receive, the Mirror reported. At the centre of their divorce settlement was an expansive property portfolio spanning across the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia, according to a Daily Mail report. Of it, the Deadpool & Wolverine actor will be retaining the luxurious three-storey Chelsea apartment in New York City they purchased for $21 million. He will also retain the beachfront retreat they own at Australia's Bondi Beach. Furness, as per the reports, is expected to receive a significant portion of their other real estate and financial assets, including a share in the London penthouse and possible monetary holdings. However, specific details have not been divulged. Despite their split, both have been committed to co-parenting their two adopted children—Oscar (24) and Ava (19). As per a Daily Mail report, insiders said that the former couple focused on their children's well-being during divorce negotiations and agreed on long-term financial arrangements for their care. Deborra-Lee Furness and Hugh Jackman got married the year after they met on the set of an Australian television program in 1995. Meanwhile, in her recent statement, Deborra-Lee Furness hinted at emotional pain after the breakup of their 30-year marriage and alluded to betrayal. As per a People report, she in the statement also expressed gratitude and described that the separation (from Jackman) was a part of the deeper spiritual journey. She added that separation may hurt initially, but returning to self and 'living within your integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom". First Published:

Charlie Woods' coach's critique becomes irrelevant as Tiger's son shows attitude

Tiger Woods' son Charlie is already making waves in the golfing world - and he looks to have taken on board a key piece of advice from his high school coach Charlie Woods, the promising son of golf legend Tiger Woods, has shown he's a fast learner by addressing a critique from his high school coach. The 16-year-old golfer clinched the biggest victory of his budding career at the Team TaylorMade Invitational on Wednesday. After a shaky start on the Black Course at Streamsong Resort, the teenager bounced back to secure a memorable win. His improved performance seemed to reflect the advice of his coach Toby Harbeck, who had previously suggested that the young golfer was too hard on himself. ‌ While it's not common for golfers to openly acknowledge criticism, focusing too much on one's mistakes can be counterproductive. Harbeck, who coaches Woods at Benjamin School, had noted that the youngster's self-criticism, while reminiscent of his father's approach, could be a hindrance if taken to extremes. ‌ "He's tough on himself," Harbeck said in November last year. "If he could just relax and play, store some of that energy, it's good. He's just young. He's got a lot of Dad in him." It seems Charlie took these words to heart, as evidenced by his relaxed and confident performance at the Team TaylorMade Invitational, reports the Mirror US. "I didn't look at the leaderboard once today," he disclosed, reflecting on his impressive final-round 66 on Wednesday. "On the fairway after hitting the green on 18, he's [Woods' caddie] like: 'You make par here, you're going to be fine.'" ‌ After clinching victory with a remarkable 15-under finish overall, three shots ahead of Willie Gordon, the young sensation has shown the power of keeping one's cool and not overvaluing any single performance. The game of golf is infamous for its mental demands, piling more pressure on individuals than almost any other sport – an intensity Charlie knows all too well, especially carrying the weight of his father's towering achievements. ‌ Yet as the time approaches for college team offers to start rolling in this summer, spectators might witness a newly refined Woods on the horizon, one who has learned to unleash his potential by allowing himself to play freely. Every eye is on Woods lately, especially after scooping up his first AJGA title to much acclaim. It's evident that the young golfer is coming into his own, evolving both his game and his personal resilience. Even with the immense expectations cast by his father, a titan with 15 major trophies, the youngster must dive into the fray to carve out his path and strive towards the family's prestigious record in golf. Still nearly a year shy of his 17th birthday, there's ample scope for further development. And considering the progress he has made in just the past six months, there's optimism that the family dynasty may have spawned another budding superstar.

Ricki Lake's amazing transformation and talk show legend's surprising new career

Ricki Lake's chat show was a staple on British TV screens in the late 90s and early 00s and she has since gone on to have a remarkable career and personal transformation A familiar face on televisions worldwide in the late 90s and early 00s, Ricki Lake is perhaps most recognised for her role as the original Tracy Turnblad in the 1988 film Hairspray, which later became a musical and was subsequently remade into a movie. Following the film, she rose to household fame with her eponymous daytime talk show. However, decades after the show's conclusion, Ricki is back in the limelight due to an impressive career shift and personal transformation. ‌ From the 90s until 2004, Ricki's talk show was a regular feature in homes across America and beyond, discussing real-life issues across a variety of topics, often delving into relationship disputes and dilemmas. ‌ The show premiered in 1993 when Ricki was just 24-years-old and enjoyed a successful run of 11 seasons. A year after the show's debut, Ricki married her first husband, Rob Sussman, a New York Times illustrator who found it challenging to cope with the pressures of being married to a celebrity. In a conversation with People magazine at the time, Sussman expressed that being financially dependent on Ricki was "really unhealthy and emasculating", reports the Mirror US. He added: "I don't want to become Mr Ricki Lake." ‌ The couple had two sons before their marriage ended in 2003. In the ensuing years, the former actress and host has embarked on a diverse range of ventures. In 2011, she took to the dance floor on Dancing with the Stars, and her television credits also include appearances on reality shows such as Drop the Mic, The Masked Singer, and The X Factor: Celebrity. ‌ Meanwhile, she also explored documentary-making, serving as the executive producer of 2008's The Business of Being Born, which examined childbirth, and contributing to 2018's Weed the People, a documentary focused on the use of marijuana in treating children with cancer. In 2020, she opened up about her long-standing struggle with alopecia and her determination to improve her overall health. ‌ Recently, she revealed that she and her second husband, Ross Burningham, have collectively shed more than 30 pounds in the past four months. Taking to Instagram, Ricki shared: "Hi friends. I've been wanting to share with you what I've been up to these last four months. On October 26, 2023, I made a commitment to myself to get healthier," she wrote. "My husband, Ross, joined me in this effort. Together we have each lost 30+ pounds. I really want to share, because we did this without relying on pharmaceuticals. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)". Now 55 and going through perimenopause, Ricki admitted she was initially uncertain whether her body would respond to weight loss efforts as it had in the past, but expressed pride and amazement at their progress, saying: "Being 55 and in perimenopause, I was a bit worried that my body would not drop the pounds like it had in the past. I am so so proud of us. I feel amazing. I feel strong." She teased a future post in which she would elaborate on her approach, stating, "I will go in-depth in another post about what I did exactly, but suffice to say, this is the healthiest way I've lost weight in all of my years." She accompanied her reflection with contrasting photos from her initial weight loss journey 17 years earlier, when she cut her weight by half. She remarked: "I held onto this #NormaKamali one-piece for all these years wondering if I would ever be able to wear it again."

The Simpsons composer who wrote show's music for 27 years dies

Alf Clausen, the Emmy-winning composer who scored "The Simpsons" for 27 years, has tragically died after struggling with Parkinson's Disease for about a decade Alf Clausen, an Emmy-winning composer celebrated for orchestrating the mischievous backdrop tunes that defined 'The Simpsons ' for 27 years, has passed away. According to his daughter Kaarin Clausen, who spoke to The Associated Press, Alf Clausen died on Thursday at his Los Angeles residence following a prolonged battle with Parkinson's Disease that spanned roughly ten years; he was 84. ‌ Clausen, whose credits include scoring other TV series such as "Moonlighting" and "Alf" (to which he would often quip "no relation,"), garnered an impressive 30 Emmy Award nominations during his career, 21 of those for his work on "The Simpsons," bagging two wins. Al Jean, a longstanding writer on The Simpsons since the early days and a prominent creative force in the show during the 1990s, expressed on X Friday, "Clausen was an incredibly talented man who did so much for The Simpsons." ‌ While Danny Elfman is the mastermind behind the iconic theme tune, Clausen came aboard Matt Groening's Fox animated series in 1990, and went on to compose close to 600 pieces, driving the 35-piece orchestra in-studio to bring them to life until 2017. ‌ His colleagues always praised his compositions as vital to the series' comedic charm, yet Clausen had a firm belief that the best way to enhance the hilarity of Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa's capers was by playing it straight with the music, reports the Mirror US. Matt Groening, in an interview back in 1996, commended Clausen as "one of the unacknowledged treasures of the show." Hailing from Minneapolis and brought up in Jamestown, North Dakota, Clausen's musical journey led him to graduate from Berklee College of Music in 1966 before venturing to Los Angeles with aspirations of forging a music career. Throughout the '70s, he served as a musical director on numerous TV variety shows including "Donny and Marie." Later, he worked with composer Lee Holdridge as an orchestrator on scores for 1980s films such as "Splash" and "The Beastmaster." ‌ When "Moonlighting," the charming detective series from ABC featuring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd came along in the late '80s, it was Lee Holdridge who landed the composing role initially but eventually handed it over to Clausen, earning him six Emmy nods for his compositions. Notably, Clausen bagged two Emmys for his work on "The Simpsons" in 1997 and 1998, in addition to securing five Annie Awards valuable within the realm of animated television and film. His departure from "The Simpsons" in 2017 was due to budget cuts, prompting dismay among his collaborators and fans alike; Clausen took legal action against the dismissal. Clausen's legacy endures through his beloved wife Sally, their children Kaarin, Scott, and Kyle, stepchildren Josh and Emily, along with eleven grandchildren.
