Nicholas Loeb, Sofia Vergara's ex, claims director conned him over failed Mona Lisa flick

Sofia Vergara's ex — who spent years feuding with the 'Modern Family' actress over custody rights of their frozen embryos — was allegedly scammed by a German director into shelling out nearly $40,000 on a movie project that went nowhere. Nicholas Loeb, an actor and entrepreneur, was hoping to snag Robert Schwentke to helm a flick called the 'Art of the Con,' which he described in a lawsuit against the director as 'a historically inspired heist film dramatizing the theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in the early 20th century.' Schwentke, 57, who directed the 2017 film 'The Captain,' allegedly agreed to take the project on in 2022 but only if his preferred writer, Matthew Wilder, took a crack at the screenplay, Loeb claimed in a Manhattan Supreme Court filing. Loeb has fought with ex-Sofia Vergara for years in court over their embryos. Getty Images Loeb shelled out $25,000 to Wilder to rewrite the script, based on Schwentke's promise, then another $12,500 in January 2023 after the director demanded a second rewrite. Even though he didn't want to hire the screenwriter, Loeb 'agreed to retain Wilder solely for the purpose of securing Schwentke as director,' according to the litigation. Schwentke even voiced enthusiasm for the project, Loeb alleged. He imagined that 'directing a Lubitsch-style elegant heist-comedy … would be one of the great joys of [his] career,' he told Loeb, according to the lawsuit. The director allegedly stopped responding for months, then 'resurfaced' in August 2023?]] demanding a third rewrite 'again to be performed by Wilder and again for a $25,000 fee,' Loeb claimed. Director Robert Schwentke allegedly claimed he would sign on to help Loeb's project, then backed out. dpa/picture alliance via Getty Images Schwentke then ditched the project in March, leaving Loeb on the hook for more than $37,000 in expenses, he claimed. 'Mr. Loeb believes he was swindled by Schwentke in collusion with his friend, costing him millions,' said attorney Andrew B. Smith, who reps Loeb. Loeb is seeking unspecified damages 'in an amount sufficient to punish' the pair for their 'willful, malicious, and fraudulent conduct.' The Westchester-based Loeb spent nearly a decade in a high-profile legal battle with Vergara over the fate of their remaining embryos created by in vitro fertilization, after their bid to have children failed. Vergara won in court, preventing Loeb from bringing their embryos to term using a surrogate. Wilder and Schwentke did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Here's everything you need to know about Love Island USA, including where to stream, release schedule, cast members and more. Love Island USA drops this Tuesday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The American edition of Love Island streams exclusively on Peacock. True to the franchise's form, new episodes of Love Island USA will premiere six days a week starting Tuesday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. New episodes will premiere on the platform every day of the week but Wednesdays during the Season 7 run. Ariana Madix will return as the host of Love Island USA for Season 7. The former Vanderpump Rules star took over for Modern Family's Sarah Hyland on Season 6 of the series. Jeremiah Brown, Chelley Bissainthe, Yulissa Escobar, Ace Green, Austin Shepard, Belle-A Walker, Taylor Williams, Olandria Carthen, Nicolas Vansteenberghe and Huda Mustafa make up the Season 7 Love Island USA cast. For Love Island USA, new episodes will drop six days a week on Peacock starting June 3. Love Island USA is a spinoff of the smash hit U.K. reality show. The main difference — beyond hosts, contestants and the amount of prize money the winning couple is awarded — is which accents you'd like to hear as contestants get their chat on around the bonfire.

Sofía Vergara sports lacy corset bodysuit at F1 Grand Prix 2025 in Monaco

She's in her own lane. Sofía Vergara showed off her curves in a racy Retrofete lace bodysuit and wide-leg jeans while attending the F1 Grand Prix in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on Sunday. The 'Modern Family' alum accessorized her casual ensemble with dark sunglasses, a mini Hermès Kelly crocodile bag and a stack of bracelets. Vergara wore a similar lace bustier with baggy jeans last month during a night out in Madrid with pals, including Eva Longoria and Eiza González. Meanwhile, on Sunday, she shared a carousel of photos from the star-studded F1 event via Instagram with the caption, 'Monaco F1 .' In one shot, she was notably photographed spending time at the Ferrari garage with a group that included 'White Lotus' star Patrick Schwarzenegger and his fiancée, Abby Champion. The Colombian actress was romantically linked to Ferrari race car driver Lewis Hamilton back in January. At the time, the two were seen on a lunch date in New York City. However, a source told Page Six days later that Vergara, 52, was worried there was 'too big of an age gap' with the British racing champion, 40. Earlier this month, Vergara said on 'Today With Jenna & Friends' that would not date a man with less money than her. 'I want somebody that has a much money as me or more, because if not, it's a nightmare,' she said. 'Then, they end up resenting you.' She emphasized, 'But I want somebody fun.'

Sofía Vergara puts on leggy display in lace-up swimsuit: ‘Summer is almost here!'

Sofía Vergara is ready for summer! The 'Modern Family' alum put on a leggy display in a plunging lace-up swimsuit in photos shared to Instagram Tuesday. The actress was seen lounging on a sofa while extending her mile-long legs in the deep plum-hued one-piece. She wore her brunette hair straight and accessorized with gold rings, layered bracelets and a dainty necklace. The Toty beauty founder, 52, wore neutral makeup for the mini photo shoot and rocked bare feet with a flawless pedicure in a light shade of pink. In two of the snaps, the 'America's Got Talent' judge crossed one leg over the other while giving the camera a smoldering look. Vergara appeared to have her summer essentials on hand, including a floral cover-up, sunglasses and an orange bag. 'Summer is almost here!! ,' she captioned the post, tagging her suncare brand. Toty's Instagram account commented on Vergara's cheeky post, writing, 'Summer's definitely not ready for you, good thing your toty SPF is!' The 'Griselda' star opened up creating her suncare brand during a 2023 interview with People. 'The plan was always 'go to the beach,'' she said of growing up in Barranquilla, Colombia. 'We did it the wrong way. We didn't know about protecting ourselves — we [applied] coconut oil. It was like frying a chicken,' she said, adding, 'Now I am paying for it.' Vergara — who was spotted in a lace corset bodysuit at the F1 Grand Prix in Monaco over the weekend — also designs swimwear for Walmart. The actress has continued to defy age after entering her 50s, which she revealed has boosted her confidence. 'When you reach a certain age, you know life more,' she told E! News last June. 'That's one of the fun things about getting older: You realize what's important in life and what is not.'
