Crown Prince offers funeral prayer for Prince Mohammed bin Fahd

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman offered funeral prayer for Prince Mohammed bin Fahd at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh after Asr prayer on Wednesday. Those who attended the funeral prayer also included Prince Muqrin, Riyadh Emir Prince Faisal bin Bandar, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Eastern Province Emir Prince Saud bin Naif, and several princes, ministers and senior civilian and military officials and a number of citizens. The body of Prince Mohammed bin Fahd was buried at Al-Oud Cemetery in Riyadh. Prince Mohammed bin Fahd served as emir of the Eastern Province for nearly three decades from 1985 to 2013, before serving as assistant deputy minister of interior. He was the founder and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Foundation for Humanitarian Development.

Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Passes Away, Key Figure in Eastern Saudi Development

Saudi Arabia's Royal Court announced on Tuesday the passing of Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the second son of the late King Fahd bin Abdulaziz. His mother was Princess Al-Anoud bint Abdulaziz bin Musaed Al Saud. Prince Mohammed, the fourth governor of the Eastern Province, oversaw a period of significant development in the region, coinciding with the country's economic boom. Born in 1950 in Riyadh, he received his early education at the Model Capital Institute before earning a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His government career began as assistant deputy interior minister before his appointment as Eastern Province governor in 1985. Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, home to the kingdom's oil, gas, petrochemical, and manufacturing industries, witnessed extensive development under Prince Mohammed bin Fahd's tenure. The region saw major advancements in industrial and tourism sectors, infrastructure, and essential services. Key projects included the expansion of export hubs into some of the Gulf's largest ports, major road and electricity initiatives, and the establishment of industrial cities. The province also experienced significant urban growth and an expansion of healthcare services. Prince Mohammed bin Fahd launched numerous initiatives to promote social development, with a focus on youth empowerment and women's advancement. His Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Program for Youth Development received the Dubai-United Nations International Award for Best Practices in Improving the Living Environment in 2002 and the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work in 2007. He also established several awards to foster excellence and innovation, including the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Award for Distinguished Government Performance and the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Award for Academic Excellence. Additionally, he founded Prince Mohammed bin Fahd University, a higher education institution known for its advanced teaching methods and modern technology.

Former Eastern Province Emir Prince Mohammed bin Fahd passes away

Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Former Eastern Province Emir Prince Mohammed bin Fahd passed away. He was 75. Funeral prayer will be offered for him after Asr prayer on Wednesday at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, the Royal Court said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency. Born in Riyadh in 1950, Prince Mohammed bin Fahd is the second son of King Fahd. He received his school education from the Capital Model InstitutePrince Mohammed bin Fahd obtained a bachelor's degree in economics and political sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara. After graduation, he worked in the private sector but was gradually introduced to multiple public assignments. During the early 1970s he was a major stakeholder of the Al Bilad conglomerate. Then he was appointed assistant deputy minister of interior. In 1985, he was named emir of the Eastern Province, and his tenure ended in 1999, he established the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Foundation for Humanitarian Development, which has launched various humanitarian projects. He was the founder and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, which established the SHIFAA fund, which helps people get medical foundation was established to achieve humanitarian goals at the local and global levels. These goals are represented in finding creative solutions to the challenges facing societies. The late Prince launched various initiatives and programs to serve different segments of society and contribute to humanitarian development issues inside and outside Saudi Arabia. These included the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Program for Youth Development, which won the Dubai/United Nations World Award for Best Practices in Improving Living Conditions in 2002, as well as the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work in 2007. Prince Mohammed bin Fahd also launched a private university in the Eastern Province, called Prince Mohammed University. In 2016, Prince Mohammed bin Fahd received an honorary doctorate of public service from the University of Central Florida in the United States.
