Police probe alleged hit-and-run near Taman Sri Perkasa in Matang

KUCHING (Aug 10): Police are investigating an alleged hit-and-run involving several vehicles near Taman Sri Perkasa in Matang here, which occurred at around 12.30pm yesterday. The case is being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving,' he said. Man arrested for allegedly raping ex-wife
KUCHING: A 23-year-old man was arrested by police for allegedly raping his ex-wife at a house in Matang last Friday. The suspect was arrested on the night of the incident following a report lodged by the 18-year-old victim. The case went viral over the weekend after a six-minute audio recording, believed to be of the victim, was circulated on social media. Padawan police chief Superintendent Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the suspect has been remanded for seven days starting today to assist with the investigation. "The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code (for rape)," he said. Mohd Irwan Hafiz also urged the public to refrain from speculating on the case, which is still under investigation.

Motorcyclist killed in collision with 4WD at Jalan Mambong-Seratau
Photo shows the police crest. KUCHING (Aug 5): A 57-year-old local man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a four-wheel drive (4WD) at Jalan Mambong-Seratau last night. Padawan district police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the accident was reported to have occurred at around 9.10pm. 'The impact of the collision caused the motorcyclist to suffer serious injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene. 'The 4WD driver, however, did not sustain any injuries,' he said when contacted. He added that the victim's body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Department of Sarawak General Hospital for further action. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
