Senior Golden Retriever Has Backyard Pool Surprise—His Face Says It All
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. In a heartwarming TikTok video, a senior golden retriever named Hurley has captured hearts all over the internet with his priceless reaction to getting a pool built in his backyard just for him. The viral video, shared on Tuesday under the username @ opens with a view of construction workers installing the new pool. This is followed by footage of the pup and his younger brother Monk having the best time swimming in it. "POV [point of view]: you're a 14-year-old golden retriever and your parents put in a pool just for you," reads layover text in the clip. A caption says: "He's almost 15, he deserves it! We luv [love] you brudder Hurley!" Heather Hughes, from North Carolina, told Newsweek that Hurley has brought "so much joy to [their] family" for over a decade, and they are grateful every day for these slower, sweeter moments with him. "I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2023 and, through my treatment, sickness and recovery, he was right there by my side. I actually feel he perked up more so he could nurse me back to health. He never left my side," Hughes said. "Because he became so clingy to me during this time, (his brother, a rescue, died about the time I was diagnosed) we decided to add to the family," she added. "Right after my last treatment, we got Monk; he was actually born on Breast Cancer Awareness Day. My goal is to train him to become a therapy dog. Sharing joy online has become a big part of our journey." While many dogs like Hurley and his younger brother love water, others don't like it as much, or at all. Experts at Pet MD say that, due to physical build, temperament, or health issues, some breeds may not be too eager to get into the water, whether it is a pool or the beach. One such breed is the pug. Because of its flattened nose, they usually have breathing problems, which makes it harder for them to perform strenuous physical activities such as swimming. The dachshund is another example of a breed that doesn't get along well with water. Because their bodies are so long and their legs short, wieners have to work harder to swim and stay afloat than many other breeds. Long-haired dogs like the Shih Tzu may also not enjoy being in the water that much. Regardless of your dog's breed and their swimming abilities, it is very important that you introduce them to swimming in a gentle, gradual way. You should also always make sure that they are wearing a life vest, even if they are great swimmers. Stock image: A happy golden retriever having the best time in the pool rests its paws on the side. One user, Pborosky, commented: "GREAT exercise for any senior or just hanging out. No stress on the joints in the pool." Fatbaby504 said: "Definitely deservesssssss this." Jennlynnreames added: "Our Goldens have a lake house. They're literally the only reason we keep sinking money into it." Newsweek reached out to @ for comment via email. The Thai star carded an excellent day-one 68 at Royal Portrush to thrust onto the leaderboard. Kaewkanjana took a break from golf in 2023 to live as a Buddhist monk and practice mediation having come tied-11th the previous year in The Championship at St Andrews. Speaking after his opening round, the 27-year-old said: 'Yeah, it's my responsibility in Thailand, so I think it's a new experience being a Monk. "They help your concentration on the golf course or outside the golf course. It's made me focus. Forget everything outside, just live in the present. So I really enjoy being a Monk. Stay in the present, just stay in my mind. 'Honestly, I play in my country, I haven't played on a links course before. So when I play a links course, it's a new experience for me. I really enjoy to play a links course. It's fun to play with a windy course and tough conditions. Kaewkanjana's effort was even more impressive given his preparations had been hampered by lost luggage on the way to Northern Ireland. He said: 'Finally. I got it back yesterday around 8pm. Just one [suitcase]. Very happy. I travel a lot around Asia. "I like to travel in Asia and maybe in Europe, so I really enjoy to play professional golf, very excited to watch the top players play in the same conditions, same golf course and learn how to play like them.' Kaewkanjana's ultimate golfing dream is to get himself to Augusta one April as he said: 'My goal has been to play in the Masters my whole life. I want to play one time. Ram Kapoor Claims ‘Television Is A Dog's Life', Recalls Surviving On Wife's Income
Last Updated: Ram Kapoor offered fans a peek into his thoughts on investments. He stated that if television actors invest wisely, they will have enough money for everything they need in life. Ram Kapoor needs no introduction. The actor has garnered a devout fan following. Whether it is on television, OTT platforms, or the film industry, he has gradually carved a niche for himself in the world of glitz and glam. But his journey to fame was not a cakewalk. He once had a huge financial crunch that made him rely completely on his wife Gautami's income and Ram Kapoor was getting no work during that time. The Bade Acche Lagte Hai star recently sat for an interview where he candidly shared an anecdote from his personal life. He also discussed the earnings of television actors and the achievements of his friends, Sakshi Tanwar and Ronit Roy. Ram Kapoor, in an interview with Humans of Bombay, offered fans a peek into his thoughts on investments. He stated that if television actors invest wisely, they will have enough money for everything they need in life. Ram Kapoor added, 'When you make it to the top like Ronit Roy, Sakshi, and me, and you are sensible, then you have made enough for your three or four generations. I know Ronit and Sakshi have done this, and they are set for four generations." Giving his example and how he made the right investments during the peak of his television acting career, the actor said, 'For 15–20 years, I made a salary cheque of a ridiculously high amount. Television is a dog's life; if you make it, then it's fine." Ram Kapoor recalled that once there was a time when he had to live on his wife Gautami's income. Elaborating on it, he said, 'One year after my wedding, I had to live on Gautami's income because I had no work. That nobody remembers. Gautami was doing Lipstick at that time. I was doing nothing. When I started, I began at Rs 1,500 per day at Doordarshan. Yes, that was my start. You have to be prepared for starting again." Ram Kapoor also talked about Ronit Roy and Sakshi Tanwar's success and their journey in the industry. Referring to Ronit as a 'senior,' the actor said, 'He started in films, but he didn't make it. He didn't have money to eat till Ektaa took him on television, after that, he never looked back. But he has seen failure, so when he got success, from day 1, he respected it. So I looked at Ronit, and I learned a little bit from Ronit. His investments have always been correct." Citing the example of Sakshi Tanwar, Ram Kapoor added, 'Sakshi is a very sensible girl. She doesn't have the habit of fancy cars like I do. She has enough money for 6 generations because she spends very wisely." Workwise, Ram Kapoor recently starred in the JioHotstar web series Mistry. It also featured Mona Singh and Abhiijeet Chitre in crucial roles. Directed by Rishab Seth and produced by Banijay Asia in collaboration with Universal International Studios, Mistry is an adaptation of the American superhit series Monk. Ram Kapoor is seen as Armaan Mistry, a brilliant and quirky detective battling OCD, blending suspense and comedy with clever mysteries and a unique protagonist.
