Lamborghini Temerario Launched in India at Rs 6 Crore
New Delhi – Lamborghini has officially launched the Temerario in India, priced at Rs 6 crore (ex-showroom, before options). Unveiled globally just nine months ago at the 2024 Monterey Car Week, the Temerario replaces the Huracan and brings an all-new plug-in hybrid powertrain to the brand's line-up. Under the hood is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 800hp and 730Nm of torque. It's paired with three electric motors – a 150hp unit integrated with the 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and two 82hp motors on the front axle. Together, the hybrid system delivers a combined 920hp and 800Nm, making it Lamborghini's most powerful V8-powered car to date. The company claims a 0-100kph time of just 2.7 seconds and a top speed of over 340kph. Powering the electric motors is a 3.8kWh battery, which can be recharged via a 7kW AC port, through regenerative braking, or directly from the engine. The Temerario also debuts a Drift mode – a first for Lamborghini – alongside drive modes like Citta (fully electric), Strada, Sport, and Corsa. Built on a lightweight aluminium spaceframe, the car weighs 1,715kg (dry), which can be reduced to 1,690kg with the Alleggerita package that includes carbon-fibre components. Lamborghini claims the new design is 103% more aerodynamically efficient than the Huracan Evo, and 158% with the optional aero kit. The styling blends elements from the Huracan, Gallardo, and Revuelto, with sharp lines, hexagonal motifs, and staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels. Inside, the Temerario gets a jet-inspired cabin with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and a passenger-side 9.1-inch display. Comfort features include 18-way adjustable ventilated seats, onboard telemetry, AR navigation, and improved luggage space. In India, the Temerario competes with the Ferrari 296 GTB (Rs 5.4 crore) and McLaren Artura (Rs 5.1 crore), positioning itself as the most expensive and powerful option among the trio.

Honda's Racing Arm to Auction V-10 Parts from Senna's F1 Car
Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) will auction off engine parts from Ayrton Senna's 1990 Formula 1 race car. The auction is part of HRC's new memorabilia business, which will eventually include other historic items from its motorsports collection. The first auction will be held during Monterey Car Week in August, and available parts from Honda's RA100E V-10 include camshafts and pistons. It used to be you'd go to a swap meet to get used engine parts, but Honda's racing division—Honda Racing Corporation, HRC for short—is taking that concept to the next level. Later this year, HRC will auction off actual parts from the Honda V-10 engine that powered Ayrton Senna's championship-winning Formula 1 race car during the 1990 season. The auction, which will be held during Monterey Car Week this August, will help launch HRC's new memorabilia business. Not only will collectors and fans alike be able to bid on rare parts from Senna's race car (also driven by Gerhard Berger during the '90 F1 season), but they'll eventually have the chance to own other motorsports memorabilia, such as signed items and limited-edition collectibles. As for the parts from Senna's F1 engine, HRC says the RA100E V-10 was disassembled at its factory in Sakura City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The people who pulled it apart were also the original builders, so you can expect extra care was taken there. The parts that will be up for auction include camshafts, connecting rods, pistons, valve covers, and various other exterior and internal bits. They'll be put in display cases and sold with a certificate of authenticity so you can brag to all your buds that you own a piece of history. HRC is also currently trying to source parts from iconic racing motorcycles, IndyCars, and even vehicles from its heritage collection to auction off or privately sell. "We aim to make this a valuable business that allows fans who love F1, MotoGP, and various other races to share in the history of Honda's challenges in racing since the 1950s.' said HRC President Koji Watanabe. 'Including our fans to own a part of Honda's racing history is not intended to be a one-time endeavor, but rather a continuous business that we will nurture and grow.' BMW Once Restored Elvis Presley's BMW 507 Roadster
Read the full story on Backfire News Almost a decade ago BMW made a huge stir when it revealed Elvis Presley's fully restored BMW 507. The little white roadster was a thing of legend, a ride owned by none other than the King of Rock himself while he was serving in the military over in Germany. But for decades it disappeared and nobody seemed to know where it so many didn't know was the classic German car, worth millions of dollars, was just sitting in a warehouse in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco, in horrific condition. That alone is amazing to think about. The car itself was already a celebrity before Elvis bought it. That very one was shown at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in 1957, wowing the crowd. Then Hans Stuck competed in several races behind the wheel before the white roadster was used for press test drives and video shots. It wasn't until December 1958 that a dealer in Frankfurt sold the 507 to Elvis Presley, who later had it painted red. After he was done with his tour of duty, in March 1960 the Bimmer was shipped back to the US. Eventually, it changed hands rapidly several times, slipping into obscurity. It turns out an engineer named Jack Castor bought it back in 1968 and he kept it hidden away. The guy had been able to ascertain the roadster was raced by Hans Stuck, but he didn't know about it being owned by Elvis. Once that fact was uncovered, BMW Group Classic made him an offer he couldn't refuse (we can only imagine how many zeroes there were). Then the automaker got to work painstakingly restoring the BMW 507. The finished product was revealed during Monterey Car Week in 2016, showing off to the public the beautiful, celebrity-owned roadster. The automaker also released photos of the restoration process, and now we have a short video sequence of it. This is truly the stuff of automotive history. Images via BMW

Concorso Italiano Adding New Event Friday Night Before Saturday Show
Concorso Italiano has added a new event the night before, featuring all kinds of cars parked in the same space as the big show. The new event is called The Paddock, held on the grounds of the Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, California, on Friday Aug. 15. Admission is $49.50, or $82.50 to display a car. Getting into Concorso the next day, Saturday Aug. 16, is $204.50, but only $207.50 to display a car and you get two people in free with each car. So go buy an Alfa Romeo now! As Concorso Italiano prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary Saturday, August 16, as part of the annual pre-Pebble Beach festivities, word is a new event will be added the night before. International Car Week, the new parent company of Concorso Italiano, will hold a multi-marque companion event the Friday before Concorso in the exact same spot at Bayonet Black Horse golf course in Seaside, California. 'We recently gathered representatives from multiple Italian Car Clubs. We had several dozen in the room and in a live feed, and they are all fired up about the event and engaging their club members and car owners,' said a spokesperson. 'It's inspiring.' The new event will be held 3 pm to 8 pm on Friday, August 15, at Bayonet Black Horse, home of Concorso Italiano. The new happening will be part of the International Car Week concept unfolding as additional events will be held on the property, we were told. 'Ultimately, the Grand Hyatt resort currently under construction will serve as home base for these events, offering top-notch accommodations, restaurants, bars, ballrooms, and more for guests.' The key word there being, 'ultimately.' It could be three years before the fabulous new Grand Hyatt will be finished. In the meantime, you can bring your Italian car to what is being called—as near as we can tell—The Paddock, on Friday night, August 16. Admission to The Paddock is $49,50, according to the website. If you want to display a car, it's $82.50. Admission to Concorso Italiano the next day is $204,50. But, if you display a car it's $207.50 and you can bring two people in (more if you illegally smuggle them in the trunk, which we are not recommending). Motorcycles are $132.50 to get into Concorso Italiano. 'Think of The Paddock as a multi-marque Concorso Italiano event, meant to broaden opportunities on the Peninsula during Monterey Car Week for those excluded from other events,' said the spokesperson (Wait, people are being excluded?). 'If a German, French, American, Italian, or other car club wants a display on the green, we'll make that happen for them. We'll give them their own tent with a bar and food and they can have their own party within our event.' A bar? Food? Yeah! The new event starts later in the day Friday to accommodate cars and spectators who may visit The Quail, The Historic Races, or other events earlier in the day, organizers said. 'The Paddock will be held outside in the very same location as Concorso. In fact, the same tents will be in place both days for sponsors, vendors, food service, merch, etc.,' said a release sent to car clubs. Concorso, meanwhile, will have its usual 'celebration of Italian cars and style (that) will reunite owners, collectors, and enthusiasts for a day of camaraderie and stunning vehicles including Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and more.' 'My goal for the 2025 event is to recapture the spirit of our early days, when guests gathered to reconnect with old friends and forge new connections. The car owners, car clubs, and enthusiasts are the heart and soul of Concorso Italiano,' said Concorso Chairman Tanya Kosta. 'Our 40th anniversary will be a celebration to thank them for making this event so special.' If anyone has extra trunk space, let me know.
