Benefits of double-engine govt

Bhubaneswar: The BJP has planned to reach out to one crore families in Odisha to highlight the benefits of the 'double-engine' government among people, a party leader said on Monday. The Odisha BJP held a high-level meeting to launch simultaneous celebrations for the completion of 11 years of Narendra Modi government at the Centre and the first anniversary of Mohan Charan Majhi dispensation in the State. The party decided to commence a public outreach programme on June 9, before the completion of the first year of the BJP government in Odisha on June 12. 'The party plans to go to around 1 crore families in the State and inform people about the BJP's services, good governance and welfare programmes for the poor,' the party's former State president and its anniversary programme chief Samir Mohanty told reporters here. The State government has planned to organise various programmes across Odisha, highlighting its welfare schemes from June 11 to June 13. The high-level meeting, held at the BJP State headquarters here, was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP State president Manmohan Samal, the party's State in-charge Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, co-in-charge Lata Usendi, State office-bearers, spokespersons, Morcha presidents, district presidents and others. Mohanty said programmes have been chalked out from booth level to mandal, district and State levels, where many Central leaders will address press conferences to make people aware of the 'double-engine' government. The term 'double-engine' is used by BJP leaders to refer to the party being in power at the Centre as well as in a State. In addition, people will also be informed about the 'poor governance' of the Congress and the BJD, Mohanty said. The BJP spokesperson, Surath Biswal, claimed that the party had made 21 promises to the people of Odisha before the elections, and of them, 11 have already been met. The remaining promises will be met much before the completion of the present BJP government's tenure in the State, he said. Biswal said the people in villages and towns will be informed about the 'BJP's flagship women empowerment programme like Subhadra, the financial assistance to farmers, expansion of Ayushman Yojana and others. The benefits of a 'double-engine' government in the State will also be highlighted.' Another BJP leader said the party workers will make 'publicity on how the country is secured under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi'. The party aims to use the anniversary celebrations as an opportunity to strengthen its grassroots connections, he added.

BJP's Tribal Morcha to embark on awareness drive

Hyderabad: BJP's Tribal Morcha to embark on awareness driveThe BJP's Tribal Morcha is set to embark on an extensive drive to bolster its grassroots presence and raise awareness about central government schemes in tribal areas across Telangana. A state office bearers meeting, held at the BJP state office under the leadership of Dr Kalyan Naik, the Morcha's State President, outlined key strategies including rapid committee formation and a series of special programmes scheduled for June. The meeting, attended by BJP Organisation Secretary Chandrashekar and State General Secretary Kasam Venkateshwarlu, prioritised organisational strengthening. Guidelines were issued for swift formation of booth-level committees across the state, ensuring active participation of Morcha workers. In 55 Assembly constituencies with over 7 per cent tribal population, each will see "1+2" committees (one booth in-charge plus two assistants) established in at least 25 identified tribal villages or settlements. From June 5 to 30, the Morcha will conduct various programs including tree plantation on Environment Day (June 5), Yoga camps for International Yoga Day (June 21) at district centres, and democracy awareness events on Emergency Day (June 25). Additionally, an extensive campaign will highlight the benefits of central government schemes during the 11th year of Narendra Modi's rule. The Morcha also resolved to continuously fight for tribal rights and challenge government failures through sustained movements.

Tribal forum calls bandh over flyover ramp work

Ranchi: Tribal communities on Saturday announced a Jharkhand bandh on June 4 to press for the immediate dismantling of the under-construction ramp, as a part of the Siromtoli flyover , near the Kendriya Sarna Sthal in Siromtoli stating that it was built without community consultation and violated the spiritual and cultural sanctity of the sacred site. Coming together, several tribal organisations across the state have formed a united front, Adivasi Bachao Morcha , to lead the agitation. The Morcha has announced a series of protests, including a sit-in outside Raj Bhavan on May 27, before the June 4 bandh. "The ramp may seem minor, but for us, it's a direct interference with our traditions. This is not just about a structure; it's about respecting our identity and religious heritage," said tribal leader Prem Shahi Munda addressing a press conference on Saturday. The matter is currently under review by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST). Following complaints from tribal representatives, the NCST reportedly ordered a temporary halt on further work at the site pending investigation. Beyond the ramp issue, the Morcha is also demanding enforcement of the PESA Act .
