Union govt eases curbs on wheat stock limits

The Centre on Wednesday eased restrictions on the quantity of wheat traders can store, a move that comes in the wake of plentiful harvests and procurement of the winter staple. Bulk traders can now stock 3,000 tonne of wheat at a time, while retailers can hold up to 10 tonne of the grain, a government notification said. In February, the government had imposed a cap of 260 tonne in case of wholesalers, while retailers were allowed to hold four tonne and these restrictions were due for revision on March 31. The curbs imposed in February on stocks maintained by traders brought changes to existing stock limits at the time. The government has enforced restrictions on stock limits multiple times since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which had sent cereal prices soaring to multi-year highs. The Removal of Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs (Amendment) Order, 2024 was first issued on 24 June 2024. It was revised on 09 September 2024 and next on 11 December 2024 before new limits were set in February 2025. Lowering stock limits is an administrative measure taken to help boost supplies when prices are high. The Centre has procured nearly 30 million tonnes of wheat till May 22, boosted by a good crop.

"At Movement, we believe climbing and conservation go hand in hand," said Anne-Worley Moelter, CEO of Movement Climbing, Yoga & Fitness. "Our match campaign invites every climber to double their impact—protecting the land where our community connects, explores, and grows." Movement's match campaign, which runs between June 2nd and June 13th, means every contribution will go twice as far toward: Expanding Climber Steward Programs to educate more visitors on responsible recreation and Indigenous land histories Deploying Conservation Teams to restore trails, stabilize crags, and partner with land managers Sustaining Critical Stewardship as federal funding declines "We're thrilled to partner again with Movement on this vital campaign," said Heather Thorne, Executive Director at Access Fund. Hamas warns of tragic situation threatening life of thousands of families

Doha - Saba: The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) mourned the martyrdom of prisoner Amr Hatem Odeh (33 years old), who died as a result of torture and inhumane conditions inside the Sde Teiman camp, in the context of the continued slow killing crimes practiced by the criminal Zionist occupation against prisoners. In a statement issued Thursday, the Movement warned of "the tragic reality that threatens the lives of thousands of Palestinian prisoners, stressing that the policy of deliberate medical neglect, torture, and depriving prisoners of food, drink, and the most basic human rights are nothing but systematic means of killing them, amid shameful international silence regarding the abuse and attacks they are subjected to." It stated, "With the martyrdom of prisoner Amr Odeh, the number of martyrs from the prisoner movement, since the beginning of the genocidal crime, has risen to at least 70. Among them are 44 detainees from the Gaza Strip whose identities have been identified. This is further confirmation that the occupation is blatantly violating all international conventions and norms, the provisions of international law, and the Geneva Conventions that guarantee the rights of prisoners." It reiterated her call on the international community, human rights and humanitarian organizations, and all free people around the world to assume their responsibilities and pressure the Israeli enemy to halt these criminal policies against our prisoners in prisons. Mujahedeen Movement: Staff death at Israeli embassy reflects growing anger

Gaza - Saba: The Palestinian Mujahedeen Movement said, "The killing of the employees at the Zionist embassy in Washington reflects the growing global anger toward the fascist Zionist entity for its brutal crimes in Gaza, before the eyes and ears of the world." It added in a statement on Thursday: "The Zionist entity and its fascist government are responsible for the escalating global anger toward Zionists worldwide, and the continuation of crimes in Palestine will not bring it security." It stated that "the continued impunity of the Zionist entity for its crimes due to international inaction constitutes a threat to international stability and peace." The Movement said: "The international community and international institutions must rein in the Zionist entity and take practical measures to stop its brutal war against innocent people in Gaza, where it violates all international norms and conventions."
