Cheapest places to buy fans this week as hot weather hits – and prices start at £1.50

AFTER a washout start to the week, sunshine is finally on the cards but with that comes sleepless, sweaty nights. Luckily, you don't have to shell out big bucks to stay cool, as we've rounded up the best bargain fans to snap up this week with prices starting from as little as £1.50. We've trawled through supermarkets, discount stores and tech retailers to find the top deals on fans of all shapes and sizes, from desk coolers and neck fans to tower and pedestal options. Of course, prices and stock can change daily, so it's always worth doing a bit of your own digging, but this guide should give you a good head start. Here's what retailers have to offer this week. Poundland Poundland is selling a 4-inch desk fan for just £3 and its one of the cheapest options around. It's only available in-store, so you'll have to make the trip but it's still cheaper than the same size fan at Asda, which is priced at £5. If you'd rather shop online, Amazon is stocking the same 4-inch fan for £3.99. Asda also has handheld fans for £1.50 and a 9-inch desk fan for £15 if you're after something slightly bigger. Aldi Aldi's got a bit of a gem this week. Shoppers are raving about the Ambiano Portable Air Cooler with LED lights, that retails for £14.99. It's got a carry handle, a 1.5m USB-C charging cable, and it's small enough to move from room to room. Mrs Hinch raves about £2 Home Bargains buy that 'adds charm to your garden' & a £10 product that's 'cheaper than Amazon' But it's a Specialbuy, so once it's gone, it's gone and you'll have to head to your nearest store to bag it. L idl Lidl is selling a Silvercrest bladeless desk fan for £29.99 and it's being dubbed a dupe of a £100 Russell Hobbs model. Features include four settings (speed, timer, oscillation and on/off), a remote control, and a sleek matt finish with a non-slip base. Better yet, Lidl Plus app users get £10 off – bringing it down to just £19.99. Home Bargains Home Bargains is packed with cheap cooling options. Its wearable neck fan is only £4.99, which is great for commuting, running, or even gardening. It's USB rechargeable, quiet, has multiple speed settings, and it won't munch through batteries like other models. You can also grab a 4-inch desk fan for just £2.99, which is cheaper than Asda, Amazon and Poundland. And for something bigger, there's a 32-inch oscillating tower fan for £19.99 – the same one sells for £30 at Dunelm. Currys Currys is offering a portable hot and cool fan for £16.99 which is great for unpredictable weather as it has both hot and cold settings. There's also a 9-inch fan for £15.99, and you'll get 3 months of Apple Music thrown in for free. Both are available online and in-store. Screwfix Screwfix is selling a 16-inch pedestal fan for £18.99. It has three speeds, an oscillation setting, adjustable tilt and height, and pumps out nearly 50 litres of air per second. It also comes with a one-year guarantee. For something smaller, Toolstation is selling a 9-inch desk fan for £9.98 – down 25% from its usual price. The verdict All in all, the best bargain of the week goes to Home Bargains, where you can nab a 4-inch desk fan for just £2.99. Its the lowest price we've seen of that model and its perfect for office workers or to stick on your bedside at night. If you want a bigger cooling hit, the 32-inch tower fan for £19.99 at Home Bargains is a close second and a tenner cheaper than its high street rival. For those looking for the cheapest on the go cooler, it has to be Asda's £1.50 handheld fan. Although Home Bargains £5 neck fan is another great option for when you're on the go. How to compare prices While all these deals are solid, it's important to remember that not every 'sale' price is actually a bargain. That's where price comparison tools can come in handy. Websites like Google Shopping let you type in a product name or model number to instantly compare prices across dozens of retailers. PriceSpy is great if you want to look at a product's price history – it tracks prices from over 3,000 stores including Amazon, Argos and the major supermarkets. Idealo works in a similar way and ranks products from the cheapest to the most expensive, while CamelCamelCamel focuses on Amazon deals specifically, showing you how prices have changed over time. Shopping around and doing a quick search can save you serious money and stop you getting caught out by sneaky markups. Just don't forget to factor in delivery fees and check stock before heading to stores to avoid disappointment. How to bag a bargain SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain… Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with. Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks. Sales are when you can pick up a real steal. Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on. Sign up to mailing lists and you'll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too. When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use and are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer. Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping. Bargain hunters can also use B&M's scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out. And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you'll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.

Poundland is selling a stunning £2 buy to transform your garden – it'll light it up while providing a splash of colour

IF you're transforming your garden into the ultimate outdoor area, Poundland has just the thing. You can pick up a budget-friendly buy that will create a cosy atmosphere in your backyard this summer. 2 Just because the sun has set, doesn't mean the fun needs to end on your garden party. You can instantly brighten up your outdoor space and add a fun touch with this bargain buy. The Solar Powered Flower Hanging Light is available for just £2 from Poundland. These string lights consist of a lovely pink shade with warm white illumination. And for another garden-themed touch, each shade is shaped like a blossoming flower. The lights measure 17 centimetres in length and 8 centimetres in width. This "charming light fixture" is said to add a "whimsical touch to your outdoor spaces". According to manufacturers, these buys are "perfect for hanging in gardens, patios, or balconies". And it won't cost you anything to run, because these lights are fully solar-powered. They absorb sunlight during the day to provide a "soft and inviting glow at night". Mrs Hinch raves about £2 Home Bargains buy that 'adds charm to your garden' & a £10 product that's 'cheaper than Amazon' "Make your evenings magical with this delightful solar-powered decor," the product description read. The experts at Gardens Illustrated explained how adding lights to your outdoor space can help to level it up. "You can create the same energy, movement and depth with a lighting scheme," they said. The pros pointed out that string lights "can be simply and cleverly deployed in many places in your garden". However, they suggested a specific option for the best decor finish in your garden. "They really come to life when wrapped through the branches of a tree," they revealed. According to the experts, this adds "both character and a lovely sense of cosiness" to your space. Meanwhile, a Home Bargains buy is said to add a touch of glamour to your garden. The retailer is also selling a budget buy guaranteed to brighten up your space. You can also add a stylish touch to your privacy fence with a B&M buy.
