GSFL 2025: New leader in coaches votes award as McNamara and Parker pick up perfect 10s in Belt-Up Round
Declan McNamara and Hayden Parker scored perfect 10s in the Great Southern Football League Coaches Player of the Year Award in Belt-Up Round at the weekend. Mt Barker star Darcy Wallinger has taken the outright lead in the coaches' votes after four rounds of the new season, sitting three votes clear of last year's winner and Kleemann Medallist Ryley Valli. McNamara received the Belt-Up Round match ball after a dominant midfield display in Royals' narrow win over North Albany at Retravision Stadium on Sunday, picking up five votes from each coach. The Lions gun moved inside the top 10 on the leaderboard and he sits just nine votes behind Wallinger. Parker booted 10 goals in a brilliant game up forward as Railways thumped Denmark-Walpole at Keep The Sheep Stadium. He received the Belt-Up Round match ball as well and was unanimously judged best on ground, with 10 votes propelling him up the leaderboard as well. In the other round four fixture, Bulls ruckman Keane Griffiths received the Belt-Up Round ball from the umpires and picked up eight coaches votes in the process as his side beat the Sharks by five points at Sounness Park. Sharks' Isaac Baum and Wallinger picked up seven votes each in that game to continue their strong seasons thus far. Railways' Jayden Scott is third overall ahead of Sharks pair Bryce Blaszkow and Baum and just five votes separate the top five on the leaderboard. Each league coach votes 5-4-3-2-1 for players on both sides at the end of every game. 2025 Coaches' Player of the Year Award Voting Round 4 Mt Barker v Albany 8 Keane Griffiths (MB) 7 Isaac Baum (ALB) 7 Darcy Wallinger (MB) 4 Darcy Clarke (MB) 2 Taj Williams (ALB) 1 Bailey Taylor (ALB) 1 Daniel Patching (MB) Railways v Denmark-Walpole 10 Hayden Parker (RAIL) 7 Lachie Cale (RAIL) 6 Coen Marwick (RAIL) 3 Ryley Valli (RAIL) 2 Hayden Leo (RAIL) 1 Ryan Hick (DW) 1 Jayden Scott (RAIL) Royals v North Albany 10 Declan McNamara (ROY) 8 Matt Orzel (NA) 3 Joel Flick (ROY) 3 Cleve Humphries (ROY) 2 Ulrich Kriek (NA) 2 Brayden Parker (ROY) 2 Kobi Keen (NA) Leaderboard 23: Darcy Wallinger (MB) 20: Ryley Valli (RAIL) 19: Jayden Scott (RAIL) 18: Bryce Blaszkow (ALB) Isaac Baum (ALB) 15: Taj Williams (ALB) 14: Daniel Patching (MB) Declan McNamara (ROY) 13: Seb Ballard (MB) Darcy Clarke (MB) Hayden Parker (RAIL) 12: Tyler Stone (DW) Lachie Cale (RAIL) Matt Orzel (NA) Kobi Keen (NA) 11: Kane Pinney (ALB) 10: Sam Holmes (ALB)
