3 TTP terrorists killed in joint operation in KP's Bannu
At least three terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in a joint intelligence-based operation by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and district police in Bannu, officials said Thursday. According to a statement from Bannu police, the operation was conducted late on Wednesday night on a tip-off near Nawaz Abad in the Fatteh Khel area, where the terrorists were reportedly hiding. 'As law enforcement personnel cordoned off the suspected location, the terrorists opened fire, the statement said, adding that all three were killed in the retaliatory exchange. The police said the terrorists were involved in targeted killings of police personnel, attacks on police stations and check posts, and several bomb blasts in the region. Recovered from the scene were one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, a 30-bore pistol, and a locally made improvised explosive device (IED). Man trying to flee on fake passport held
Lucknow: UP ATS on Monday arrested a history-sheeter, who was allegedly preparing to flee to Saudi Arabia on a forged passport and documents. The arrest was made at the Varanasi airport. The accused, Sheikh Mudassir, has multiple criminal cases pending against him at various police stations in Mau. These cases include attempt to murder, assault on woman with intent to disrobe, extortion, rioting and cases under the Gangsters Act and Goonda Act. Sheikh Mudassir allegedly procured forged documents, including an Aadhaar card using a fake address, and obtained an Indian passport under this false identity, the ATS said. Using the fraudulent passport, he travelled to Saudi Arabia multiple times. ATS sources said he was planning another serious criminal act and an escape abroad when he was nabbed. Police recovered fake PAN card, Aadhaar card, driving licence, debit card, four SIM cards from different telecom companies, and a mobile phone from him. He has been booked under IPC Sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (fraud), 467, 468, 471 (forgery and use of forged documents), and Section 12 of the Passport Act at Jaitpura police station, Varanasi.

US fund taps Pakistani tech duo with $10mn to lead startup investment initiative
The JR Dallas Tech Fund has announced $10 million investment to Pakistani technology leaders Mehwish Salman Ali and Malik Mudassir, entrusting them to inject the fund into exclusive US-focused startup investment initiatives, Business Recorder learnt on Friday. 'Under this landmark agreement, Ali and Mudassir will receive $10 million in dedicated capital to identify, evaluate, and invest in high-potential startups planning to scale operations in the United States. The duo will serve as lead investment partners with full authority to deploy capital across artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, digital health, and frontier technology ventures,' a press statement read. 'We are entrusting $10 million to two of the most visionary technology leaders of our generation,' said Jehangir A. Raja, Managing Partner at JR Dallas Tech Fund, which is the premier private investment arm of the US-based JR Dallas Wealth Management. Mehwish Ali is a founding CEO of Data Vault that is claimed to be Pakistan's first solar-powered and quantum-encrypted AI data center. She is a co-founder of Zahanat AI, the country's first indigenous GPT model, and COO of AppsGenii Technologies. She is a TEDx speaker and Forbes Technology Council member. Mudassir is founding CEO of AppsGenii Technologies, operating across the US, UK, and Pakistan. He is a co-founder of ventures including GharPar, BoxesGen, and Dental Connect. He is also a member of the Central Executive Committee at P@SHA (Pakistan Software Houses Association). According to the statement, the $10 million fund operates under a rigorous investment framework designed to maximise both financial returns and economic impact. The investment should be focused in the sectors like AI/machine learning, cloud infrastructure, digital health, quantum computing and cybersecurity. The investor is aimed at investing the entire fund into 15-20 select companies over a period of two-year in the US-focused projects. The funding is projected to enable portfolio companies to create direct jobs, generating 300-500 high-skilled technology positions within 24 months. Man found dead inside building under construction
Mangaluru: A man, approximately 35 to 40 years old, was found dead in an under-construction market complex on Market Road in the city on Thursday. He had a minor bleeding wound below the left knee and swelling above the knee. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Near the body were four iron rods about 20ft long with bloodstains in the middle. Additionally, a small piece of a blood-stained bed sheet, seemingly used to bandage the wound, was found. A bed sheet was also spread in a small adjacent room. The man's face was unfamiliar, suggesting he was a stranger. It is suspected that he might have been murdered or died due to other reasons when he entered the building on the night of Wednesday. Based on a complaint from the housekeeping supervisor of the developers, Mangaluru North police registered a case under Section 103 of the BNS, and it is under investigation. Two held with MDMA Kundapur police arrested two individuals and seized 124.7g of MDMA worth approximately Rs 2.5 lakh near Kodi Chakreshwari Temple in Kasaba village on Wednesday. The accused are Mudassir,23, a resident of Subhash Nagar in Kaup, and Aden Lobo,18, from Udyavar in Udupi. Police also seized plastic boxes, nine syringes, bags, a weighing machine, a machete, mobile phones, and Rs 4,540. A case under Sections 8(C), 21(C), 22(C), and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered.
