T20 Mumbai League To Kick Off With Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube In Action On Day 1
The wait is finally over as the highly anticipated T20 Mumbai League 2025 is ready to thrill cricket fans across the country with Season 3 set to begin on Wednesday at the DY Patil Stadium and Wankhede Stadium. Eight dynamic teams will compete in the league, with 23 exciting matches lined up over nine days from June 4 to 12, promising top-quality cricket and unforgettable moments. Launched in 2018 with the goal of identifying and nurturing a diverse pool of cricketing talent, the T20 Mumbai League, one of India's leading franchise-based domestic T20 tournaments, has been a stepping stone for several rising stars, including Shivam Dube, Tushar Deshpande and Shams Mulani, who have gone on to shine on bigger stages. The venue will also host another fixture on the same day, as Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, led by Suryakumar Yadav, take on the Eagle Thane Strikers at 5.30 PM. Lalchand Rajput appointed League Advisor for T20 Mumbai League 2025
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has appointed former India cricketer and veteran coach Lalchand Rajput as the League Advisor for the upcoming T20 Mumbai League 2025 and also announced a dedicated team of scouts who will work along with him to strengthen talent identification and development. Season 3 of T20 Mumbai League is scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium from June 4 to 12. The 63-year-old seasoned cricket professional, who served as the manager of the Indian team during their T20I World Cup-winning campaign in 2007, is currently the head coach of the United Arab Emirates national team. In the past, he has also coached Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. Rajput brings a wealth of experience in both domestic and international cricket, having held various leadership and coaching roles over the years. As League Advisor, he will lead a dedicated team of scouts comprising Sanjay Patil, Ghulam Parkar, Ravi Thakkar, and Musavir Khote — all highly respected figures in Mumbai's cricketing fraternity. 'We are thrilled to welcome Lalchand Rajput as the League Advisor for the T20 Mumbai League 2025. His vast experience and dedication to the development of the game make him the perfect choice to guide the league and nurture emerging talent. Domestic cricket stalwart Abdul Ismail passes away at the age of 79
Abdul Ismail, a domestic cricket stalwart who earned the title of 'Sultan of Swing' due to his exploits for Mumbai (then Bombay), passed away due to a cardiac arrest in Mumbai on Friday. He was 79. In a First-Class career spanning a decade since 1969, Ismail was the leader of Mumbai's pace pack in the 1970s. He scalped 244 wickets at an average of 18.08 in 75 First-Class appearances. Besides being a member of multiple Duleep Trophy triumphs for West Zone, Ismail was a key architect of Mumbai's five Ranji titles. According to the veterans, Ismail is one of the leading names of cricketers who remained unfortunate to have missed out on an India cap. Along with Karsan Ghavri and Eknath Solkar, Ismail formed the famed Mumbai pace triumvirate that complimented Padmakar Shivalkar's left-arm spin in the 1970s. In January, he was felicitated by the Mumbai Cricket Association to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Wankhede Stadium. Ismail featured in the first game at the Wankhede. Ismail made his debut in the Irani Cup, where he also made his final First-Class appearance.
