Mumbai (Maharashtra)[India], June 3 (ANI): Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited, best known for putting India on the global motorsport map, has officially announced its entry into cricket with the launch of its new franchise, SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the T20 Mumbai League, hosted by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). The launch event also featured the unveiling of the team's official jersey, team anthem, and a new cricket-focused talent development initiative called 'Agla Star - One in a Billion Hunt', a first-of-its-kind national programme aimed at identifying and nurturing the next generation of world-class Indian athletes - on track and field, according to the MCA press release. Bringing in the support to this vision, India's first World Cup-winning cricket captain, legendary cricketer Kapil Dev has joined the SoBo Mumbai Falcons in an advisory and ambassadorial role--bringing his leadership and experience to inspire the next generation. The Rs 82 crore acquisition of the SoBo franchise marks the group's strategic expansion into cricket and the next phase of its vision to build a multi-sport performance ecosystem. The team aims to set a new benchmark in Indian cricket where data, science, and preparation are as central to performance as instinct and skill. This launch is more than the reveal of a jersey or a team anthem, it's the unveiling of a new kind of Indian sports institution, one where motorsport precision meets cricketing passion. T20 Mumbai League: Kapil Dev is brand ambassador of Sobo Mumbai Falcons
Kapil Dev MUMBAI: In a move that will surely attract eyeballs, Sobo Mumbai Falcons , one of the two new teams in the upcoming T20 Mumbai League , have signed up cricket legend and India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev as the team's brand ambassador, TOI has learnt. The side's head coach will be Mumbai senior men's team's head coach Omkar Salvi . Salvi is also the bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing IPL. Confirming the development, the team's co-owner Ameet Harjinder Gadhoke said, "Yes, Kapil Dev sir will be the face of our team. He has been the mentor of our racing team Mumbai Falcons since the last six years. Kapil sir will be there to guide the boys - he will be present in one or two practice sessions and will attend the team's matches in Mumbai. His mere presence will be a huge boost for our team." They entered the F3 Asian championship in 2021. It became the first Indian team to compete and finish in the top three in F3 Asian Championship with drivers Kush Maini and Jehan Daruvala. Who's that IPL player? On 20 February 2022, Mumbai Falcons secured a historic double victory in the Formula Regional Asian Championship in UAE winning both the Driver and Teams Championship. In 2023, the team clinched both titles in the inaugural Formula Regional Middle East Championship with Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who had replaced Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes- Benz' F1 team, and the F4 UAE Championship with James Wharton.
