Gaza faces ‘healthocide' while protests in Israel demand ceasefire
Shafaq News – Gaza Seven people, including two children, died within 24 hours from malnutrition in Gaza, amid what the Health Ministry described as a health and psychological genocide, while calls intensified for a ceasefire to end the suffering. فلسطينيون يشيعون جثامين عدد من الشهداء من بينهم أطفال، في المستشفى الأهلى العربي بمدينة غزة. — شبكة قدس الإخبارية (@qudsn) August 17, 2025 According to Munir Al-Barsh, Director-General at the ministry, the devastation extends beyond direct Israeli bombardment to what he called 'healthocide and psychocide'—a systematic destruction of the body and mind. He described how 38 hospitals have been reduced to only 15 partially functioning, more than half of Gaza's primary care centers are closed, and 183 ambulances have been destroyed. Nearly 1,600 healthcare workers have been killed, including 157 doctors, while hundreds more have been detained on duty. Famine is spreading rapidly, with 28,000 malnutrition cases documented this year, 40,000 infants and a quarter of a million children under five at risk of slow death, and nearly 90 percent of children under one suffering from anemia. Medical shortages have deepened the crisis: more than half of chronic disease treatments are unavailable, nearly two-thirds of cancer medicines are at zero stock, and almost half of children's vaccines have run out. Critical nutrition supplies are also exhausted, leaving 16,000 patients trapped without treatment abroad, with more than 1,100 dying while waiting for permits. The psychological toll is equally severe. Over one million children in Gaza are suffering from trauma—half with symptoms of post-traumatic stress—while 44,000 have lost one or both parents, and nearly 850 amputees now endure double trauma. UNRWA described conditions in Gaza as 'inhumane,' stressing the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire. Juliette Touma, the agency's Communications Director, warned that the world is 'very, very close' to losing its collective humanity, accusing Israel and the United States of replacing the UN-led aid system with a politically motivated mechanism that has only deepened chaos and deprivation. 'We are very, very close to losing our collective humanity,' our @JulietteTouma tells @ manmade famine in #Gaza has been largely shaped by the deliberate attempts to replace the UN-coordinated humanitarian system through the politically motivated 'GHF'.This… — UNRWA (@UNRWA) August 17, 2025 Amid these calls, protests intensified in Israel demanding a ceasefire and the release of hostages held in Gaza. According to The Times of Israel, marchers advanced toward the prime minister's residence, while police used water cannons to disperse demonstrators who blocked a key tunnel leading into Jerusalem, arresting seven people and bringing the total detained nationwide to 25. 'Arrest me, but the protest movement will continue,' one detainee declared as police encircled him on the roadside. The Occupation's Massacre Of Citizens Gathered In The Area Designated For Aid Distribution In Gaza
The toll of the occupation's massacre of citizens gathered in the area designated for aid distribution, Al-Alam area, in Rafah Governorate, at dawn today. More than 200 cases have arrived at hospitals so far, including 31 martyrs and dozens with serious injuries. Every martyr who arrived at hospitals had sustained only one gunshot wound to the head or chest, confirming the occupation's insistence on brutally killing civilians. The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that the "israeli" occupation is using the new mechanism it established for distributing aid in the Gaza Strip as traps for mass killings in the Strip and a tool for the forced displacement of Gaza residents. In press statements today, Sunday, the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Munir Al-Barsh, expressed his condemnation of the international silence regarding the massacres being committed against the starving residents of the Gaza Strip. Dr. Al-Barsh also indicated that Gaza hospitals are facing dire conditions in light of the severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies, noting that the occupation is still preventing approximately 3,000 trucks carrying medical supplies located in the Egyptian city of Al-Arish from crossing into the Gaza Strip. Dr. Al-Barsh blamed the occupation for deliberately spreading infectious diseases and epidemics by continuing to prevent the flow of medicines and vaccines. He pointed to the spread of many vector-borne diseases, acute bloody diarrhea, and meningitis, in addition to depriving the population of water security, as 90% of the population suffers from water insecurity. Despite Gaza Ceasefire, Israel Demolishes Residential Buildings in Western Rafah - Jordan News
On Wednesday, the Israeli army carried out demolitions of residential buildings near the entrance of Al-Saqa Street in the Tel Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah in southern Gaza, marking yet another violation of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect for 23 days. اضافة اعلان According to Anadolu Agency, citing eyewitnesses, Israeli forces conducted the demolitions early in the morning. Al-Saqa Street is the closest point to the Philadelphi Corridor along the border with Egypt, where Israeli forces are currently stationed. They are scheduled to begin withdrawing from the area on the 42nd day of the ceasefire, with a full withdrawal expected by the 50th day. The ceasefire agreement, which took effect on January 19, includes a phased exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel and allows humanitarian aid into Gaza. The agreement, brokered by Egypt and Qatar with U.S. support, consists of three phases, each lasting 42 days. Meanwhile, eyewitnesses reported that Israeli forces withdrew from eastern Al-Fukhari, east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, after four days of a limited incursion. Before pulling out, Israeli forces reportedly bulldozed Palestinian homes and lands. Earlier on Wednesday, an Israeli drone strike killed one Palestinian and critically injured another in eastern Rafah, according to a medical source cited by Anadolu Agency. On Tuesday, Gaza's Ministry of Health Director-General, Munir Al-Barsh, confirmed that Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began on January 19 have killed 92 Palestinians and injured 822 others. A Palestinian source revealed to Anadolu on Tuesday that Israel has committed 269 violations of the ceasefire's humanitarian protocol within the past 23 days. Israeli forces have continued near-daily attacks on Palestinians, either by direct gunfire or drone strikes across Gaza. These violations led Abu Ubaida, spokesperson for Hamas' military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, to announce on Monday that the scheduled release of Israeli prisoners on Saturday would be postponed until Israel fully complies with the agreement. Hamas has identified four key breaches of the ceasefire: Delays in the return of displaced Palestinians to northern Gaza. Blocking the entry of shelter necessities, including tents, prefabricated homes, fuel, and equipment to remove rubble and recover bodies. Obstructing the entry of essential medical supplies and materials needed to repair hospitals and the healthcare sector. Direct attacks on Palestinian civilians. Between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, Israel—backed by the United States—has carried out what has been described as a genocide in Gaza, resulting in approximately 160,000 Palestinian casualties, including the deaths of women and children, with over 14,000 people reported missing.

"Israeli" army kills Palestinian, injures another in Rafah despite ceasefire
The "Israeli" military killed a Palestinian and injured another in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, on Wednesday, despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement that has been in place since Jan. 19.
