Rihanna Reaches A New Billboard Chart For The First Time In Her Career

Rihanna's 'Friend of Mine' opens at No. 3 on Billboard's new Hot Dance/Electronic Pop Songs chart, ... More earning the singer her first hit on the tally. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 10: Rihanna attends the Savage X Fenty Celebration of Lavish Lace Debut at Nordstrom Century City on October 10, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo byfor Savage X Fenty) Rihanna's new single 'Friend of Mine' is experiencing something of a lukewarm reception on the Billboard charts this week. The tune arrives on more than half a dozen tallies in the United States, thanks largely to its quick adoption by a number of radio formats. While the latest from the Grammy winner underperforms in some respects, it also grants the singer her first success on a list she's never appeared on before. Rihanna lands on the Hot Dance/Electronic Pop Songs chart for the first time this week. 'Friend of Mine' opens at No. 3 on Billboard's ranking of the most consumed tunes that straddle the line between pop and dance music. The cut is not just the highest-ranking debut of the frame, it's the only new title on the tally this time around. Billboard only introduced the Hot Dance/Electronic Pop Songs chart a few months ago, and Rihanna hasn't released any new music prior to 'Friend of Mine' for several years, so it's not shocking that this is her first placement – even though she's scored multiple dance smashes in the past. Her last single before 'Friend of Mine,' 'Lift Me Up,' which was written and recorded for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, dropped in 2022. That tune likely wouldn't have been eligible for this roster anyway, based on its style. Rihanna has landed on this list with her first eligible brand new cut. This week, Rihanna is beaten to the summit by two of the very few No. 1s in the short history of the Hot Dance/Electronic Pop Songs chart. Lady Gaga leads for a fourteenth week with 'Abracadebra.' That track, taken from Mayhem, has spent 16 frames somewhere on the list, and all but two of them in charge. 'Revolving Door' by Tate McRae holds steady in the runner-up spot after briefly leading the charge. 'Friend of Mine' performs well on a number of Billboard's dance-specific rankings. It starts at No. 1 on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart and enters the Dance Streaming Songs list at No. 6. The cut, which was crafted specifically for the upcoming Smurfs movie, is also a quick top 40 success across a number of radio formats. Unfortunately, it misses out on reaching the Hot 100, but only by one space. Instead, it launches at No. 1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100.

Blake Shelton hits back at angry critics following backlash over his and Gwen Stefani's AMAs performance after fans claimed they were 'lied to'

Blake Shelton has hit back at angry critics on Wednesday after receiving backlash from his and wife Gwen Stefani 's pre-taped AMAs performance. Fans were left furious after discovering the couple weren't actually on stage at the American Music Awards, instead just pre-recorded their performance before Monday night's event. 'We've been lied to,' wrote a TikTok user who was apparently at the awards show and filmed Gwen and Blake's performances on a screen from a seat in the balcony. Blake has now responded to the backlash, sharing on X: 'Just now seeing these stories about Gwen and I pretaping our performances for the AMA's. 'We came and performed when the show asked us to.. Really nothing else to say.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Blake has now responded to the backlash, sharing on X: 'Just now seeing these stories about Gwen and I pretaping our performances for the AMA's. We came and performed when the show asked us to.. Really nothing else to say' Videos circulating on social media further riled up fans after it wasn't indicated to viewers at home that their performance wasn't live. The stage at the Fontainebleau was pictured in the video, but it was dark, and the actual performance from the 55-year-old No Doubt singer was instead projected on the large screen behind the stage. People appeared to be swaying and dancing on the stage, but they were turned to the screen to watch the video, rather than performing as part of a number. There also appeared to be crew members setting up the stage for the next number while her performance played. 'She's not here!' the TikTok user said at the end of the clip as she turned the camera back to herself in the audience. Gwen was performing a medley of her classic tunes to mark the 20th anniversary fo her 2004 album Love. Angel. Music. Baby., including Hollaback Girl, What You Waiting For? and Rich Girl. Blake's performance was somewhat more confusing, as he was pictured in photos taken on the red carpet in what appeared to be the same outfit that he wore for his performance, suggesting that he had arrived at the AMAs shortly before the show started. But another video from the same TikTok user also showed a pre-recorded performance from the 48-year-old country music star of his single Stay Country Or Die Tryin'. Blake's performance was somewhat more confusing, as he was pictured in photos taken on the red carpet in what appeared to be the same outfit, suggesting that he had arrived at the AMAs shortly before the show started 'The craziest part of the AMAs last night was being told "and here's Blake Shelton Live" only for them to light up the stage like he's there, and never saying to us it was pre recorded. 'THEN, doing the same thing with Gwen Stefani!' the original poster seethed in text laid over the video. 'I felt like I was in a simulation looking around for him!' One commenter joked, 'LOL even the performers didn't show up.' 'Gwen Stefani performing live! ... somewhere else!' another user joked.

Legendary 90s pop star who had a 'crippling alcohol addiction' warns celebs to be 'very afraid' over upcoming tell-all book

Nineties pop sensation Anthony Kavanagh is set to lift the lid on the darker side of stardom with his explosive new autobiography, Pop Scars - and he's warned the industry to brace itself. The singer, 47, who rose to fame under the name Kavana with hits like I Can Make You Feel Good and Crazy Chance, has hinted that no one is safe from the revelations in his upcoming book. Known for his boy-next-door image in the teen pop heyday, Anthony has since opened up about his struggles with addiction, revealing the personal cost of fame after finding success at just 16 years old. As the release of his tell-all book looms, some of his friends and acquaintances in the industry could be in for a shock. Back in 2017, the singer promised that he'd write a revealing memoir about his time in the music industry. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. He told Attitude magazine: 'I am very excited about it. It's more of a memoir, I'll save the autobiography for when I'm older. 'It'll be warts [and all] and recalls what was happening back in the pop industry back in the 90s and when I went to live in Hollywood. 'There are some really outrageous stories that most people wouldn't know about. Yes, people should be afraid…very afraid.' And the former pop idol appears to be relishing the build-up as he took to his Instagram page on May 14 to tease fans with a glimpse of what's to come. He posted a snap of the cover of his book, featuring a imagine of the star at the height of his success. Anthony penned: 'Can't believe I'm saying this but I actually wrote a book. Like by myself, like those grown ups do. POP SCARS covers all things 90s pop but more importantly what happens AFTER fame.' The star continued: 'It's about teenage fame, loss, addiction and hope, and how not to iron a white Kappa tracksuit. 'It's been described as 'Laugh out loud, jaw dropping, and heartfelt' but you can decide that. The former pop idol appears to be relishing the build-up as he took to his Instagram page on May 14 to tease fans with a glimpse of what's to come in 'Come join the ride with me. More news to come. This is for the underdog.' After his pop career wrapped up, Anthony kept busy in the public eye, starring in Hollyoaks: In The City in 2006 and later competing as a finalist on the TV show Greece Is the Word in 2007. He also took part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, where he finished seventh. As for his personal life, Anthony shocked fans as he shared a swollen photo of himself at the peak of his alcohol addiction. The star has been sober for nearly three years and has been incredibly open about his struggles with addiction and his journey to recovery. And the artist admitted he was 'lost, broken and hopeless' during his crippling addiction. He wrote: 'On #addictionawarenessweek I want to make anyone struggling aware that recovery is possible. 20 months ago I was lost, broken and hopeless. 'Ask for help, I'm so glad I did. #Wedorecover #Noshame #addiction #youcandoit'. The singer documented his 2022 entry into rehab after sadly relapsing a year earlier. In February 2022, he took to Twitter to apologise to his family for not being 'truthful' as he admitted that alcoholism had 'got a grip on him' in an emotional post. The singer spoke of his 'mental struggles', before signing off social media for the foreseeable future. The statement read: 'Today I go into rehab. Again. This illness of Alcoholism has got its grip. I'll be off social media for a while. 'To what family I have left, I'm sorry I wasn't truthful I've been going through a lot of mental struggles. Good news I'm going to get the help I need. 'My phone will be off for a while. Clint, Aunty Angela, Aunty Maria, Brad, I'm going to be OK and I love you all madly x.'

Taylor Swift's ‘Lover' Reaches A Major Milestone — One She's Only Hit Twice Before

Swifties were certain that the singer-songwriter they adore was going to announce a new album at the recent American Music Awards. That didn't turn out to be the case, and the world is still waiting to hear what will come next for the most successful musical artist on the planet right now, be it a full-length of original material, Reputation (Taylor's Version), or something else. As millions of fans wait patiently, one of Taylor Swift's most celebrated collections has quietly reached a lofty milestone on an important Billboard ranking — one she's only seen a few times before. Lover lands at No. 50 on the Billboard 200, advancing just two spots from last time around. As it rises, the title reaches 300 weeks on the list of the most consumed albums in the country. The pure pop project shifted 15,500 equivalent units in the past tracking period, according to music industry data company Luminate. Of that sum, 1,500 were pure sales, while the rest comes from streaming activity. Swift has now seen three full-lengths spend at least 300 weeks on the Billboard 200. Her longest-charting success remains 1989 — the original version, that is — which sits just one stay away from a full decade on the tally…though it doesn't appear on the Billboard 200 very often anymore, it's been largely replaced by 1989 (Taylor's Version). Reputation beats Lover by just under a year, as it has now racked up 348 weeks on the Billboard 200. That project pushes nearly 30 spaces to No. 94 this time around. Lover is one of seven albums by Swift that claim space on the Billboard 200 this week. Five of them manage to climb, including The Tortured Poets Department, Folklore, Midnights, and both Lover and Reputation. 1989 (Taylor's Version) holds steady, while Red (Taylor's Version) dips just one space. Speak Now (Taylor's Version) also appears on a Billboard tally, but not the Billboard 200. It slides to No. 45 on the Top Country Albums chart.
