Israeli military say another rocket intercepted from Yemen
The Israeli military stated on Thursday that it has once again intercepted a rocket fired from Yemen. In several areas of Israel, including the coastal metropolis of Tel Aviv and other locations in the centre of the country, alarm sirens sounded. According to official reports, there were initially no reports of injuries or significant damage. Due to the rocket alarm, the final of the Israeli football cup had to be interrupted. According to the Israeli TV channel N12, about 30,000 football fans were in the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv. A few minutes after the alarm, the players from the teams Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Be'er Sheva were able to return to the pitch and continue the match. In recent days, there have been repeated alarms in various locations in Israel due to rockets launched from Yemen. Most of these are intercepted. However, three weeks ago, a projectile hit near the international airport by Tel Aviv for the first time. Since the beginning of the Gaza war in October 2023, the pro-Iranian Houthi militia has been regularly attacking Israel with rockets and drones, which they claim is an expression of their solidarity with the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement. After the end of the ceasefire in mid-March, the attacks increased. Israel's air force responded with airstrikes on militia targets in Yemen, such as in the port city of Hodeidah.

Trump confirms he told Netanyahu not to act against Iran in private talks
"I told him this would be inappropriate to do right now because we're very close to a solution now," Trump told reporters. US President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday that he had warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week not to take actions that could disrupt nuclear talks with Iran. "I told him this would be inappropriate to do right now because we're very close to a solution now," Trump told reporters. "That could change at any moment." This comes after the N12 news site reported on Tuesday that the US president had warned Netanyahu not to take any action that could disrupt nuclear talks with the Islamic Republic. Then, the New York Times reported that the prime minister threatened to strike Iran's nuclear facilities during conversations with Trump last Tuesday. However, the Prime Minister's Office later denied the reports, calling them "fake news." According to a senior White House official, Trump emphasized to Netanyahu that 'the second option is still on the table,' but he prefers to first see if a diplomatic solution can be reached. The official added that during the call, 'President Trump encouraged Netanyahu to act cautiously.' N12 reported that the call between Trump and Netanyahu was 'tense.' Talks between Tehran and Washington entered their fifth round earlier in May. US and Iranian officials expressed optimism at the talks, but Israeli officials have repeatedly expressed concerns about losing its chance to strike the Islamic Republic. Last week, Walla reported that Israel is preparing for the possibility of a rapid strike on Iran's nuclear facilities if negotiations between Iran and the US fail in the coming weeks. In Israel, it is estimated that the window of opportunity for a successful strike might close soon. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted that there was potential for progress in nuclear negotiations with the US after mediator Oman made several proposals, adding that the talks were complicated and more discussions were needed. "We've just completed one of the most professional rounds of negotiations," Araghchi said. Amichai Stein and Barak Ravid contributed to this report.

IDF to hold tsunami response drill after unusual earthquakes in Greece
This comes after unusual earthquakes off the coast of Santorini made security officials concerned that a tsunami would strike Israel. A tsunami response drill will take place Wednesday morning, in the area of Rishon Lezion, the IDF announced Tuesday night. The purpose of the drill is to test the level of municipal preparedness and operational response to a similar emergency. As part of the drill, a siren will sound in the western Rishon Lezion area at 10:15 AM, to simulate a tsunami warning. Additionally, an increase in the movement of security forces will be noticeable along the coastline. This is a pre-planned drill, the IDF stressed, and there is no concern of a security event. The announcement comes three months after unusual earthquakes off the coast of Santorini, Greece. The quakes could have potentially created a larger earthquake that would have affected Israel. "Emergency bodies and government offices are required to prepare for the possibility that the State of Israel may encounter a tsunami wave approaching it," a summary from the National Security Council stated, as reported by N12 news site. Even still, experts say that Israelis would have abundant warning time in the event of a tsunami wave in the Mediterranean Sea. "We in Israel need to be alert, but there is no need to worry excessively," Dr. Ariel Haiman, a geologist and senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies, told N12.

Gaza 'not even close' to famine, military official says
Military officials also discussed the looting incidents in Gaza, with over 110 looting incidents occurring since the resumption of Gaza aid. The Israeli security establishment held discussions on the humanitarian situation in Gaza on Monday, where a senior IDF official stated that 'there is no famine in Gaza. We're not even close to that,' N12 reported on Tuesday. The official reportedly stated, 'There is distress [in Gaza], but no hunger.' N12 noted that military officials highlighted that the main shortages in Gaza are medical services and food, along with the issue of looting aid meant for civilians. The officials stated that there have been 110 looting incidents since the resumption of aid to Gaza last week, N12 reported. However, they said that to their knowledge, none of the looting incidents were carried out by Hamas, but rather by Gazan civilians, armed gangs, and organized clans. On Monday, Hamas executed four men for looting some of the aid trucks that have begun entering Gaza, as a clan leader in southern Gaza issued a challenge to the terrorist group over guarding the convoys. N12 reported that during the meeting, the topic of humanitarian aid distribution centers was discussed, specifically that three new centers are expected to open on Wednesday or Friday. An aid distribution center was slated to open in Rafah on Monday but was delayed due to logistical reasons, The Jerusalem Post learned. The report reiterated that 85 aid trucks are expected to enter Gaza every day, and the aid will be distributed among four aid centers, with the goal of providing humanitarian assistance to 1.2 million Gazans. Amichai Stein and Reuters contributed to this report.

Reports: Israel planning to further intensify Gaza offensive
Israel's military has moved all of its regular infantry and tank brigades into the Gaza Strip, the Times of Israel and other local media reported on Sunday, citing the army. The military said it would not provide further details on the deployment of its forces, in response to a dpa inquiry. The Times of Israel report said the army is preparing to intensify its offensive in Gaza. Television station N12 also reported that the Israeli offensive was continuing, saying the armed forces are deployed in different areas of the embattled Palestinian territory. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently announced plans to take control of the whole of the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli armed forces launched a new major offensive in Gaza around a week ago. At the start of the offensive, the army said it wanted to achieve Israel's war aims, including the release of hostages and the destruction of the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas. Israel's actions in the sealed-off territory are drawing mounting international criticism - even by close allies. The war in Gaza has claimed more than 53,000 Palestinian lives, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.
