Egypt: Badawi follows up on NATA's operational status, LNG facilities

Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has inspected the main control center at National Advanced Transmission and Automation Center (NATA), affiliated with the Egyptian Natural Gas Co. (GASCO), in New Cairo, according to a statement. Badawi followed up on the operational status of the natural gas pumping system through the national grid, monitoring the efficient operation and flow of gas from local production. He also checked the output from the three liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities currently operating at the SUMED and Sonker ports in Sokhna. The minister affirmed continuing efforts to ensure the sustainable provision of natural gas to meet the needs of the local market, mainly the electricity and industrial sectors, amid an increase in electrical loads during the summer period. The government succeeded in securing the electricity sector's fuel and gas needs during the past few days, when the temperature rose, Badawi added. He attributed this achievement to the national grid operating scenarios and developed maneuvers to address emergencies. Meanwhile, the petroleum ministry is joining forces with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to determine the electricity sector's gas needs and ensure their fulfillment, relying on the agreed-upon imported LNG shipments. Finally, Badawi emphasized that the state cooperates with all its relevant agencies to secure the local market's fuel and natural gas needs, ensuring the stability of the energy system and serving the goals of economic development. © 2020-2023 Arab Finance For Information Technology. Government efforts continue to secure gas supplies for power, industry during summer

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has affirmed that the ministry is pressing ahead with its strategy to sustainably provide natural gas to meet domestic market needs — particularly for the electricity and industrial sectors — amid rising power loads during the summer months and increased fuel consumption driven by high temperatures. His remarks came during a visit to the main control centre of the national natural gas grid, the National Advanced Transmission and Automation Centre (NATA), operated by the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) in New Cairo, where he reviewed the operational status of gas pumping across the national grid. Badawi also checked the efficiency of operations and gas flow from local production sources as well as through the three regasification vessels currently stationed at the SUMED and Sonker terminals in Ain Sokhna. The Minister noted the successful securing of fuel and gas for the power sector during the recent heatwave, attributing it to the ministry's proactive contingency plans and emergency response strategies. He stressed the importance of ongoing coordination between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, supported by joint teams working around the clock to assess the sector's evolving gas requirements and ensure timely LNG imports. Badawi concluded by emphasising that the state remains committed to sustaining local fuel and gas supplies to maintain energy system stability, in line with broader economic development objectives.

Karnataka Examinations Authority stops M.Arch entrance test due to low demand

Bengaluru: Due to low demand for seats in the state, Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has decided to discontinue Post Graduate Common Entrance Test ( PGCET ) for the course starting this year. Instead, students will need to take national-level entrance exams . In 2023, out of 136 available seats in the state, 127 candidates applied, and only 28 took admission. "KEA will not conduct any separate entrance exam for admissions this year," said H Prasanna, executive director. "For undergraduate courses, we already consider NATA scores. There are three national-level post graduation entrance tests for architecture (PGETA) conducted by Council of Architecture for PG programmes. Students can henceforth take those exams as it is not feasible to conduct exams for such a small number of seats," he added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo Until now, KEA conducted its own PGCET for admissions, along with exams for MBA, MCA, and MTech. Now, KEA will assign state ranks to MArch aspirants and allocate seats using scores from national-level tests. Architecture colleges confirm course has seen declining interest. " itself is a five-year course. Most students begin working right after graduation, either setting up their firms or joining established architects. Post-graduation is rarely a requirement, except for those who would like to pursue teaching," said Vimala Swamy, principal of Gopalan School of Architecture and Planning. She added while top colleges fill most B. Arch seats, mid-level institutions have some vacancies, and several colleges struggle to get students. "At least three standalone architecture colleges are shutting down this year. A drop in postgraduate students could eventually lead to a shortage of qualified faculty in architecture colleges." Prasanna also announced CET results will be declared after CBSE Class 12, ISC, II PU-2, and agricultural practical exam results are out. "CET evaluation is over. We're just waiting for the Class 12 marks from different boards," he said. The PGETA will be held on May 4, May 25, and June 15. Registration has begun on April 15.
