NEW DELHI: The centre on Tuesday launched a pilot project in 19 states that aims to equip adolescent girls aged 16-18 years from underprivileged and rural backgrounds with vocational training mainly in non-traditional and emerging job roles. The project 'NAVYA' – Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls - will be implemented in 27 districts of the country, which include aspirational districts and districts of Northeastern states spanning across 19 states. Girls, with a minimum qualification of Class 10, will be identified by the Ministry of Women and Child Development ministry and will be trained through short-term skill development courses under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), with the potential to eventually establish small businesses of their own. The initiative to empower young girls was launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), in convergence with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with the aim to further the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. The initiative was launched at Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh. Under the programme, adolescent girls will be trained in skills such as graphic design, telecom and financial services, smartphone and drone assembly, solar PV and CCTV Installation, and hand embroidery - empowering them for emerging opportunities in a rapidly evolving job market.

In sync with PM Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, a transformative initiative NAVYA— Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls-- was launched in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district on Tuesday. (Sourced) The step aims to equip adolescent girls with not only vocational training and education but also give them a platform for self-respect, opportunities and social participation. Union minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship (independent charge), Jayant Chaudhary, and Union minister of state for women and child development Savitri Thakur jointly launched the initiative. NAVYA is a joint initiative of the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship and the ministry of women and child development. It will be implemented in 27 aspirational districts across 19 states, ensuring equal opportunities reach even the most marginalised regions, preparing girls for future challenges. 'NAVYA has been launched to provide adolescent girls with training across multiple domains to make them self-reliant. Girls identified by the ministry of women and child development will receive short-term vocational training under the PMKVY scheme,' Chaudhary said on the occasion. 'The training will not be limited to employment alone, but will also enable them to establish small businesses and their own enterprises. The initiative starts today from Sonbhadra, a district rich in tribal heritage and natural resources,' he added. 'It will be a milestone in making adolescent girls self-reliant. Our shared commitment is to equip girls with skills that enable them to become independent and empowered citizens. This initiative will help them live a life of dignity and confidence,' MoS Thakur said. To ensure its effective implementation, district skill committees are being strengthened to connect girls with local skill development schemes, job fairs and entrepreneurship opportunities. Robertsganj MP Chhotelal Singh Kharwar and MLA Bhupesh Chaubey also addressed the gathering. Participants trained under the PMKVY and PM Vishwakarma schemes were awarded certificates at the event.

New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): In line with the Prime Minister's vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and Government's unwavering commitment to women-led development, Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), in convergence with Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), will launch the joint pilot initiative of both the Ministries for skilling of adolescent girls under NAVYA - Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls - on Tuesday in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. The programme will be jointly launched by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge), MSDE and Savitri Thakur, Minister of State, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, according to a release by Ministry of Women and Child Development. NAVYA is a pilot initiative aimed at equipping adolescent girls aged 16-18 years with a minimum qualification of Class 10, with vocational training mainly in non-traditional job roles. This pilot initiative will be implemented in 27 Districts of the country which include Aspirational districts and districts of North -eastern States spanning across 19 States, reflecting the Government's inclusive and targeted approach to reaching underserved regions and vulnerable populations, the release added. As part of the launch, both Ministries will formalize their collaboration to institutionalize convergence on skilling efforts for adolescent girls. The programme will draw upon the strengths of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and other flagship skill development schemes. The launch event will feature interactions with adolescent girl trainees, distribution of PMKVY and PM Vishwakarma certificates. Through NAVYA, Government of India will reaffirm its commitment to empowering girls with skills, confidence, and opportunities--ensuring that every young woman becomes a catalyst in India's journey towards a developed, self-reliant, and inclusive future, the release added, (ANI)
