Phoenix has underperformed with Durant on the roster, and it may be a good time to part ways. ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst gave his thoughts on the partnership between Durant and Phoenix, saying that he is almost 100 percent sure Durant would leave. Windhorst appeared on the ESPN show 'NBA Today to discuss the situation. "Kevin Durant, I'm like 98% sure he's not gonna be a Sun next year, how it works out though I'm about 1% sure. There's gonna be a number of teams interested, but some of it is gonna depend on whether they see KD as a player they keep on a 1-year contract or extension", he said. Suns rumors: Brian Windhorst makes 98% Kevin Durant trade prediction
The post Suns rumors: Brian Windhorst makes 98% Kevin Durant trade prediction appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Phoenix Suns are one of the biggest stories in the NBA this offseason due to their roster limitations and what they can do from a trade perspective. They are hamstrung with money tied up in Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, and they desperately need draft capital. Advertisement Due to Beal's no-trade clause and his declining play, Durant would make the most sense to trade. Beal has limited value, and Booker is in his prime. So even though Durant is older, he can still score from all over the court by elevating as one of the best shooters in the NBA. Brian Windhorst, one of the most notable NBA reporters, said recently that he is almost certain the Suns are trading him, but he doesn't know where. Windhorst said on ESPN's NBA Today, 'I'm 98% sure he's not gonna be a Sun next year. How it works out, though, I'm about 1% sure.' The Suns desperately need to upgrade their roster after getting worse this past season with that same core three, missing the NBA postseason, and finishing with a 36-46 record. Everything outside of trading Booker appears on the table for Phoenix. Advertisement Durant is the best candidate for the Suns to trade for and receive a haul of picks and players in return. Even at age 36, he averaged 26.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists with 52.7% shooting from the field and a 43% shooting percentage from behind the arc. He would instantly help a team that needs more offense and a veteran presence. The prime candidates surrounding Durant have been the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, and Houston Rockets, with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons seen as teams with an outside chance despite not getting as much shine. Things have been quiet on the Suns' front because Phoenix is still deciding who their new head coach will be, but talks will start to heat up once a hire is made. The Suns went all-in, and they failed. Durant offers the franchise the best chance to regain respectability while regaining picks to help build and set the team up for the future. In comparison, Beal's play has fallen off a cliff, and while they will most likely try to trade him, the more likely option is some form of a buyout. Durant is the key for the Suns, so whatever they do with him will have massive ramifications for their franchise and whatever franchise he ends up with.

2025 NBA Draft: Could the Nets pull off a trade with the Spurs?
The Brooklyn Nets came away from Monday's 2025 NBA Draft Lottery with some disappointment as they were awarded with the eighth overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft. With Brooklyn reportedly regarded as one of the teams that could be looking to trade up, there could be a team that may be looking to trade back in the Draft prior to June. The San Antonio Spurs, who ended up with the second overall pick, are reportedly going to be "open-minded" with what they decide to do with the pick, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears during his appearance on "NBA Today" on Tuesday. NBA insider Jake Fischer recently reported that the Nets are considered one of the teams that could be looking to trade up in the Draft, meaning that there could be a path for both teams to come to a deal. Advertisement "I'm hearing that the Spurs are gonna be open-minded, they like what's at two," Spears said while noting that the opportunity for a trade may not be intended for the Nets. "They're willing to keep at two, but if I'm the Spurs, I might be calling Boston to see what I could potentially do." While Spears explained that the Spurs are expected to be open-minded with what they do with the second overall pick, it does sound like they could be looking for veteran players to place around Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox moving forward. For a team like Brooklyn, the teams that could be good candidates for a trade back in the Draft seem to be dwindling with teams like the Dallas Mavericks (first overall pick) and Philadelphia 76ers (third overall) reportedly preferring to stay with their picks. Plenty of situations can change between now and when the Draft begins on June 25 so the Nets have a significant amount of time to survey the landscape for a potential trade, if that is their intention. Based on the recent reporting, however, it seems that Brooklyn may not be able to trade into the top-3 of the Draft and that could be an issue if there is a player they like that won't be around by the time they get to pick at eight. "A Miniature LeBron James": Julius Randle's Role Next To Anthony Edwards, Per NBA Insider
Julius Randle has been critical in the Timberwolves' run to the Western Conference Finals after stepping up on repeated occasions to become an additional lethal offensive threat for opponents other than Anthony Edwards. Since his trade for Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves fans have always wondered whether they made the right decision. However, these Playoffs seem to have proven that trading for Randle was the right fit for this team. While discussing Julius Randle's role on the Timberwolves, ESPN's NBA insider Brian Windhorst compared him to a miniature version of the Lakers' superstar LeBron James. Advertisement Windhorst appeared on ESPN's NBA Today segment and said, 'I want to tell you about this last series he played with the Warriors. He averaged 25, 7, and 7. 6ft 9 point forward, averaging those kinds of numbers, who does that remind you of? How about LeBron James?" Windhorst further added, "He's acting like a miniature LeBron James in this postseason, being a force with his size. Being able to be a playmaker, being able to play different roles on offence, and different roles on defence. Creating all kinds of havoc with what he's able to do with the ball while he gets in that triple-threat position. This type of player, next to Ant, is what's taking the Wolves to the next level. The reason that they are here is because of the way they played down the stretch. And the way they played down the stretch was because of how Randle was able to come back from injury and bond with Anthony Edwards, that is what has them live as a real championship contender." Assessing Julius Randle's Performance In The Playoffs During his time with the Knicks, Randle led them to the Playoffs twice in his career. In the 15 games he played in the Playoffs as a Knicks player, he averaged 17.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Moreover, he never went beyond the second round of the Playoffs. Advertisement However, in the Playoffs this season, Randle has been on a heater. This season, his post-season scoring average saw a steep rise while his rebounding numbers have fallen. He averaged 23.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in 10 games played so far in these Playoffs. While this is nowhere close to James' playoff career averages (28.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 292 games played), his impact on the Timberwolves has agreeably been similar to James. One of the key reasons for this is the change in his role with the Timberwolves than what he was doing with the Knicks. He was the primary rebounder on that team and couldn't focus on scoring. With Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels managing the rebounding duties for the Timberwolves, Randle is free to focus on scoring instead of just gathering the rebounds. This change has helped Randle and Edwards make the Timberwolves a real threat to be title contenders this season. Related: Wild Data Exposes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander In Comparison To Anthony Edwards

Kendrick Perkins calls Shai Gilgeous-Alexander the greatest Thunder of all time, fans disagree: 'If he wins the title, he has a case'
Image credit: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander/Instagram NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins, a former Oklahoma City Thunder player, has called the new MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 'the greatest Thunder of all-time.' However, this hasn't gone down well with many NBA fans—especially Oklahoma City Thunder supporters—who reminded him of former greats like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden and their contributions to the team. Internet reacts to Kendrick Perkins' remarks about Shai Gilgeous Alexander Kendrick Perkins said on NBA Today on ESPN, 'Let's talk about SGA. The greatest Thunder of all-time. He already joined the company of Michael Jordan this year – three consecutive seasons of 30 [points per game], shooting over 50 percent, now he's hoisting up the MVP trophy, and now he's on his way to going to the NBA Finals and he's going to win an NBA championship, and he's going to become Finals MVP.' As a video of Perkins' comment was shared on X with the question of whether others agree, one fan responded, 'Come on Kendrick. Russell Westbrook averaged a triple double 3 straight seasons with OKC. But there will be an argument to be made for SGA if they win a championship.' Another said, 'They just can't prop up Shai without bringing the ones who came before him down it's pathetic.' One more commented, 'Russ & Harden are up there too. What they did is the reason OKC is the way it is today.' However, many noted that if Alexander wins a championship, Perkins' claim could gain more validity. 'If he wins the title I'd say he has a great case,' read one of many similar comments. Reacting to Perkins' statement, an X user also said, 'Not yet. 3+ years if he stays this course, then absolutely. KD and Russ are still ahead FOR NOW.' One user who agreed with Perkins added, 'I see the point of everyone putting Russ and KD ahead of SGA. But I would like to point out SGA is a team above everything else. Russ and KD were more focused on themselves. They didn't make everyone on the team better. This team wouldn't be as good with either of them on it. SGA.'
