EA Sports announces NCAA Basketball series return

Just days before its second college football title release in over a decade, EA Sports just announced it's getting back into the college basketball world too. The successful return of the NCAA College Football franchise, now called EA Sports College Football, prompted calls from the sports video gaming community to bring back the college hoops franchise. However, fans of both franchises knew that the last NCAA March Madness title sold just over 150,000 units, compared to 1.5 million copies of NCAA Football 14 being sold. Blake Griffin was the last cover athlete for the series, which died in 2010. A lot has changed in the basketball video game space since then, though. EA Sports lost the NBA title war to 2K, largely due to the innovations made to the MyPlayer mode and online play, only for the victor to grow stale and leave fans wanting more. The plague of micro-transactions that has taken over the sports video game genre has also hurt the NBA 2K series. Ironically enough, EA Sports, which is known for abusing micro-transactions in most sports games under its label, got a pass from the community despite implementing the same pay-to-win system in its Ultimate Team mode. That's because the outcry for a return of the beloved franchise mode silenced most of the critics. If everyone is happy, no one is complaining. There isn't the same nostalgic affinity for the March Madness series, but college basketball fans are going to check out the game regardless. Whether it has the same longevity as the newly revitalized football series remains to be seen. A robust recruiting system upgrade is needed and a dynamic MyCareer mode, where players can create a player, be recruited and play through a college basketball career, is also on most wishlists. While there is limited information on the game, updates should come after the launch of the NCAA Football 26 game in early July. Penn State's Beaver Stadium ranked as No. 2 toughest place to play by EA Sports

Beaver Stadium can add another feather to its cap. Penn State's iconic home venue received another accolade on Tuesday, being ranked as the second toughest environment to play at in college football by EA Sports. The top 10 include No. 1 Tiger Stadium (LSU), No. 2 Beaver Stadium (Penn State), No. 3 Ohio Stadium (Ohio State), No. 4 Sanford Stadium (Georgia), No. 5 Bryant-Denny Stadium (Alabama), No. 6 Memorial Stadium (Clemson), No. 7 Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (Florida), No. 8 Oklahoma Memorial Stadium (Oklahoma), No. 9 Autzen Stadium (Oregon) and No. 10 Michigan Stadium (Michigan). The rankings will be used in the College Football 26 video game, which is set to release on July 10. The iconic video game ceased production after NCAA Football 14 but was brought back last year due to fan demand, with College Football 25 seeing major popularity. In last year's edition of the game, Beaver Stadium ranked as the No. 6 home-field environment, behind No. 1 Kyle Field (Texas A&M), No. 2 Bryant-Denny Stadium, No. 3 Tiger Stadium, No. 4 Ohio Stadium and No. 5 Sanford Stadium. It's clear the Nittany Lions earned more respect this time around, though there are likely still plenty of Penn State fans who think No. 2 is too low.

Alabama Announces Big Kalen DeBoer News on Friday

Alabama Announces Big Kalen DeBoer News on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kalen DeBoer is entering a pivotal second season as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide after taking over for Nick Saban in 2024. In his debut season, Alabama narrowly missed the 12-team College Football Playoff, finishing with a 9–4 overall record and 5–3 in SEC play. Advertisement The Tide appeared poised to make the expanded playoff for much of the season, but a late-season loss to Oklahoma ultimately dashed those hopes. While last season is now in the rearview, DeBoer has found himself back in the spotlight this week following the announcement of the highly anticipated College Football 26 video game cover, which features Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith and Alabama sophomore wide receiver Ryan Williams. In addition to the buzz around the cover, Alabama revealed that DeBoer — along with his offensive and defensive coordinators — has chosen to be featured in this year's edition of the game. Participation is optional for coaches and players, and DeBoer's inclusion further connects the Crimson Tide to what is expected to be a blockbuster release when the game launches in July. Advertisement Alabama's post on social media read, "They're in the game," tagging head coach Kalen DeBoer, OC Ryan Grubb, and DC Kane Wommack. Fans reacted to the news: "Love this. Much better," a fan said. Someone else added, "Roll tide! Get with the times coaches!! RTR." Another fan posted, "LET'S GOOOOOOO!" "I can't wait for Deboer to do this," one more fan commented. Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer© Matt Pendleton-Imagn Images EA Sports brought back the college football video game last season to great fanfare, marking the first release since NCAA Football 14 hit shelves in the summer of 2013. Advertisement However, the new game features significant changes, including the inclusion of player names thanks to NIL rules and the option for coaches to appear in the game, which has only boosted its popularity. Did Texas A&M make the cover of College Football 26?

After the release of College Football 25 last summer, which was the first installment of the popular college football video game since NCAA Football 14 was released before the 2013-2014 season. After much success, the franchise is back on track and more popular than ever, as College Football 26 just released its cover art ahead of this summer's release. Like the first edition, Texas A&M was barely featured in one of the two covers, which made sense given the other players and teams leading into the 2025 season, led by cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, who was recently selected second overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2025 NFL Draft. Advertisement For the 26 cover, it's again no surprise the players chosen to don the cover, as standout sophomore Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams and fellow sophomore Ohio State star pass catcher Jeremiah Smith were the players selected after breakout seasons for both future first-round draft picks. What has become kind of a game for Aggie fans started back up on Tuesday, as Texas A&M was, in fact, featured in the top right corner of the regular cover in the form of a flag, but not included in the Deluxe Edition despite featuring nearly every fanbase. Whether the Aggies are being snubbed on purpose is up for debate. Still, if I had to surmise, Texas A&M's 1-4 finish after starting 7-1 last season likely played a part in not being widely represented, while, outside of senior running back Le'Veon Moss, quarterback Marcel Reed and wide receiver KC Concepcion, the Aggies' 2025 roster is very talented, but lacks star recognition due to last season's late struggles.
