NCIS legend Mark Harmon stars in his first role away from CBS hit after Gibbs exit
Mark Harmon has been keeping busy since his departure from NCIS in 2021 and has now landed a role in a project completely separate from the popular police procedural. Mark Harmon, best known for his role as Agent Gibbs in NCIS, has been busy with a project entirely separate from the renowned police drama. CBS fans were left heartbroken when Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, portrayed by Mark Harmon, bid farewell to NCIS in 2021. Yet, it was a touching goodbye as Gibbs left his turbulent past behind to embrace a fresh start amidst Alaska's tranquil beauty. Despite his exit, Harmon remains connected to the NCIS world through his contributions to the prequel, NCIS Origins, where he lends his voice and makes an appearance in the inaugural episode. Alongside his work on the latest NCIS offshoot, the 73-year-old actor has been occupied reprising his role in another popular franchise. The family comedy Freaky Friday, which premiered alongside NCIS in 2003, featured Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as a mother and daughter who unexpectedly swap bodies. Harmon took on the role of Ryan, the soon-to-be spouse of Curtis' character Tess Coleman, much to the dismay of Lohan's character, teenager Anna Coleman. Now, Curtis, Lohan, and Harmon are all gearing up to reunite for the sequel, Freakier Friday, with Harmon returning as Ryan, now Anna's stepfather. In this sequel, Anna is now a mother herself with a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they try to navigate their evolving family dynamics, all three, along with Tess, find themselves in yet another body-swapping predicament. In an intimate chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Harmon opened up about his reunion with Curtis, saying: "It's comfortable with Jamie and always has been. I've known her since she was 15 or 16. "Obviously, it's a different story now, and yet I enjoy time with her. "When you look at the long form of life, you're talking about moments with people and sharing them and being with people you liked being with. "That's always been true about her for me, so I was pleased to do that."

Mariel Molino & Austin Stowell On Their Hopes For ‘NCIS: Origins', The Big Season 1 Scenes & Who Should Play The Older Lala
SPOILER ALERT! This story contains details from Season 1 of NCIS: Origins on CBS. Given the car crash bang ending to Season 1 of NCIS: Origins, it is perhaps unfair to ask Mariel Molino about her take on Season 2. When asked the question, however, by Deadline, her thoughts echoed those of many fans: 'I hope Lala is alive… and I hope I have a job.' You know what I mean, come on, either kiss me or don't.' Molino and Stowell were at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival and fielded questions about their CBS series. Stowell said, just weeks out from production starting, he wants to know about Season 2 as much as the fans of Season 1. He talked about his chemistry with Molino and recalled a scene outside an interrogation room where her character confronts Gibbs and lets loose. 'It was the scene where she confronts Franks and [Gibbs]. I said: 'Will you please just get mad at me?' he recalled. 'For her to yell at me in that way, it was crushing and you can see it in my eyes. When I watch that it takes me back to that memory. It just it hurts, because I'm not method by any means, but I do allow the emotions to fill me, and so that's one that will stay with me.' Stowell also admitted that stepping into the shoes of a character made famous by Mark Harmon was, and remains, nerve-wracking, and he's fine with that. 'I was scared for so many reasons,' he said. 'There were just so many first times. For me, it was the first time doing a network TV show, first time playing a character that had already been portrayed before me, first time to be number one on a call sheet.' He continued: 'I'm someone who likes pressure; I like to be put in that situation. I want the ball in my hands at the bottom of the ninth. I feel like I do thrive in that situation. But I don't think I'll ever quite get comfortable because, at the end of the day, Gibbs will always be Mark Harmon's character, and I'm playing the younger version of that.' With the older Gibbs character part of TV folklore, Molino was asked who she would pick to play the latter-day Lala. Noting some Italian heritage, her take was pretty quick. It should be Monica Bellucci. Best of Deadline 2025 TV Series Renewals: Photo Gallery 2025 TV Cancellations: Photo Gallery 2025-26 Awards Season Calendar: Dates For Tonys, Emmys, Oscars & More
