Eagles are planning to play Cooper DeJean everywhere in Vic Fangio's defense
Eagles are planning to play Cooper DeJean everywhere in Vic Fangio's defense Vic Fangio said, "I really like him as the nickel" when asked about what position Cooper DeJean will play for the Eagles in 2025, but the second-year DB lined up everywhere on Day 2 of OTAs Cooper DeJean was a primary reason the Eagles only lost one game after the Week 5 bye, and the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist is already one of the most versatile defenders in the NFL. After Philadelphia saw Darius Slay (Steelers), Isaiah Rodgers (Vikings), Avonte Maddox (Lions), and James Bradberry (UFA) all exit, there was talk of DeJean moving to the outside cornerback spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell. Back in April, before the NFL draft, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was a special guest of the Phillies and watched Philadelphia defeat Colorado 4-1 to remain in first place. During a brief conversation with John Clark of NBC Sports, Fangio was asked about a potential position switch for DeJean, and shot that idea down. 'I really like him as the nickel. I'd like to see him stay at nickel. He plays it very well. He's got good size in there. I think he enjoys playing in that position.' The news means Kelee Ringo, Adoree' Jackson, and Eli Ricks will be among the early contenders to win a competition. On Wednesday, during Day 1 of the Eagles' OTAs, DeJean lined up at multiple positions and confirmed after the practice that he'll see action all over the field. We can confirm that DeJean took snaps at all three cornerback spots, as well as snaps at safety on Wednesday. DeJean logged 51 tackles (38 solo) as a rookie, including 0.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries across 16 regular-season games in 2024. DeJean's biggest and best moment came in Super Bowl LIX against the Chiefs, when he picked off Patrick Mahomes for a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown on his birthday.

Charles Woodson takes Tom Brady route and becomes minority owner of an NFL franchise
Charles Woodson takes Tom Brady route and becomes minority owner of an NFL franchise Charles Woodson and the Raiders go hand-in-hand. He had two stints with the Raiders to begin and end his career and has his winery and whiskey business based in the Bay Area. Both of those products have had licensing deals with the Raiders. But Woodson's image and likeness with regard to those products will now come to an end because Woodson has been approved to become a minority owner in the Cleveland Browns. This may seem strange to some people, but it's actually no more strange than Tom Brady becoming minority owner of the Raiders. Brady is a Norther California Bay Area native and Woodson is an Ohio native, having grown up in Fremont just 80 miles west of Cleveland. "Growing up in Fremont, Ohio, it was a dream come true to play in the National Football League," Woodson said in a statement. "In my wildest childhood dreams, I never considered the opportunity to become a limited partner of an NFL team, let alone the Cleveland Browns . . . one of the NFL's most storied franchises. Over the last year, I've enjoyed getting to know the leadership team at the Browns and I'm excited about the opportunity to be a part of the bright future for this team and to help be a resource for the entire organization as well as the NFL." So, the two Michigan alums who were on each side of the tuck rule debacle (the one who fumbled it and the one who forced it) now both own minority stakes in the teams close to where they grew up. Woodson, like Brady, will have a small stake in the team. But Woodson's presence within the organization should also be considerable. "We know he will be instrumental in helping shape the future of the club through his insight and leadership and we are looking forward to having him as part of our ownership group," Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said in a statement. The Hall of Famer has now been associated with three storied NFL franchise -- the Raiders, Packers, and Browns. Along with his winning a National Championship, Heisman Trophy, NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Super Bowl, NFL Defensive player of the Year, starting his successful business, and being a NFL TV analyst, I'm thinking there's literally nothing this man can't do.

Charles Woodson buying a stake in Cleveland Browns from the Haslam family
Charles Woodson is getting back to his Ohio roots to take a small percentage of an ownership stake in the Cleveland Browns. Woodson, the Fremont native and Pro Football Hall of Famer, is purchasing a 0.1% ownership stake from owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam, The Athletic's Diana Russini first reported. There was no comment from the Browns or Haslam Sports Group. Advertisement The 48-year-old Woodson would be following a similar path as his former University of Michigan teammate, Tom Brady, who recently purchased an ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. According to Russini's report, Woodson's purchase of the ownership stake is "contingent upon Woodson agreeing to similar broadcasting restrictions to Raiders owner Tom Brady and removing his name, image and likeness from businesses he is involved in." Woodson, who played for the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers over an 18-year career, owns a wine and whiskey business, but according to the report, "would cease allowing his NIL to be used on packaging for new bottles of wine and whiskey businesses he is involved in to secure his Browns ownership stake, as it violates the league's alcohol policy." Forbes, in August 2024, valued the Browns at $5.15 billion. A 0.1% stake would be valued, according to those valuations, at $5.15 million. Woodson, a three-time All-Pro, nine-time Pro Bowler and 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, was a 1995 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He was Ohio's Mr. Football in 1994, won the 1997 Heisman Trophy at Michigan was the 1998 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Advertisement The No. 4 overall pick by the Raiders in 1998, Woodson had 65 career regular-season interceptions, including 11 returned for touchdowns, with 33 forced fumbles, 18 fumble recoveries, two which were returned for scores. He was a part of the Packers team that won Super Bowl 45 in February 2011. NFL Legend Charles Woodson Makes Career Decision on Thursday
There's no doubt Charles Woodson left an incredible mark on the NFL. Now, it looks like he's making just as big of an impact off the field. Already known for his passion for wine, Woodson has his own label, TwentyFour by Charles Woodson. Based in Napa, California, the winery continues to grow in popularity. But now, Woodson is stepping into an even busier role — this time back in the NFL but in a new capacity. Advertisement Dianna Russini, an NFL insider for The Athletic and host of the "Scoop City" podcast, shared the news about the Pro Football Hall of Famer's next venture: "Hall of Famer Charles Woodson is set to purchase a 0.1% stake in the Browns from the Haslam family." Russini added: "The sale is contingent upon Woodson agreeing to similar broadcasting restrictions to Raiders owner Tom Brady and removing his name, image and likeness from businesses he is involved in." Woodson has already made a name for himself in the media world. He was part of ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" from 2016 to 2018, then transitioned to Fox Sports as a college football analyst. Advertisement A native of Fremont, Ohio, Woodson starred at Fremont Ross High School as a member of the Little Giants. Though he now lives in the Orlando, Florida, area with his family, he frequently refers to Ohio as home. Former Raiders defensive back Charles Han / USA TODAY NETWORK During his college days, Woodson became a legend at the University of Michigan. In 1997, he won the Heisman Trophy and helped lead the Wolverines to a national championship. That same season, he also picked up the Walter Camp, Chuck Bednarik and Bronko Nagurski awards and earned first-team All-American honors. He was selected fourth overall in the 1998 NFL draft and went on to set the record for most consecutive seasons with an interception returned for a touchdown (six). Woodson finished his career with 65 interceptions, 13 defensive touchdowns and 20 sacks. Advertisement His NFL journey spanned from 1998 to 2015, playing for both the then-Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers. He began his career with the Raiders from 1998 to 2005, then joined the Packers, before returning to the Raiders from 2013 to 2015. Woodson was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1998 and NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2009. He was selected to nine Pro Bowls and capped off his illustrious career with a Super Bowl XLV victory. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
