NEET UG Maharashtra State MBBS Colleges 2025: Being the third largest state in the country after Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra is home to numerous government and private medical colleges. The state has 42 government medical colleges, with two colleges under the central government and the rest under the state government. Except AIIMS, Nagpur, these state medical colleges come under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and are based in Nashik. Now, let's know which are the private medical colleges in the state: Bharati Vidyapeeth University Medical College (Pune), Dr. D Y Patil Medical College (Kolhapur), Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (Wardha), Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (Karad), Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education and Research (Pune), KJ Somaiya Medical College, Symbiosis Medical College for Women (Deemed University), Prakash Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Sangli) and MGM Medical College and Hospital (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), among others. In the latest NIRF Rankings 2024 released by the Ministry of Education, the following colleges from the state are ranked among the top 50: —At 11th rank, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune: The Pune-based college scored 64.10 under the NIRF 2024 medical rankings. The admissions are purely based on the merit list of the NEET UG. Last year, 250 medical seats with 212 for general and 38 for NRI. The annual fee structure as mentioned in the information brochure for the 2024-25 academic session is Rs 27,00,000 for general and US$ 60,000 for NRI. The annual fees, that is, tuition fees for the MBBS Programme, will be increased by 7% with subsequent instalments, as mentioned in the previous year's brochure. —At 23rd, Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research, Wardha: The Wardha-based medical college scored 60.14 under the NIRF 2024 medical rankings. As stated in the information brochure of 2024-25, the fee structure for general students' tuition fee is Rs 20,75,000, while for NRI, it is $ 27,500. —At 30th, Armed Force Medical College, Pune: The Pune-based medical college ranked 57.68 in the NIRF rankings. In college, graduate students have to compulsorily work as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services. A total of 145 medical cadets (115 boys & 30 girls) will be admitted in a year, as mentioned on the official website. Every MBBS aspirant who wishes to gain admission to a medical college in a state other than their own must check and understand the domicile rules of that state's medical college. In the case of Maharashtra, these are the rules that an aspirant must know: In Maharashtra, there are five types of domicile rules: Candidature type A, Candidature type B, Candidature type C, Candidature type D, and Candidature type E. In Candidature type A, an applicant must have completed his or her Class 10th, & 12th from schools in the state. Along with education, the student must have a certificate from the Maharashtra state government affirming that the citizen has lived in the state for 10 years or more. The birth certificate should also mention that the state of birth of the student is Maharashtra. In Candidature type B, candidates must have completed Class 10 and 12 from Maharashtra-based institutions, and at least one parent must have a Maharashtra domicile certificate. Type C requires candidates to have passed Class 10 and 12 in Maharashtra, with one parent being a Government of India employee posted in Maharashtra. Type D includes candidates who completed Class 10 and 12 in Maharashtra schools and have a parent employed by the Maharashtra state government. Type E applies to candidates who studied in schools along the Maharashtra-Karnataka border, have Marathi as their mother tongue, and possess a domicile or birth certificate from the border area.
