Local authorities launched a new housing initiative which hopes to give some 33 towns a much-needed population boost and makeover. The desperate scheme offered buyers a grant of £90,000 - nearly £70,000 given for renovation, while the remaining cash was provided to purchase a derelict property. Those who took the cash would have to commit to living at the home or renting it out for at least 10 years. Applications were be accepted in rounds lasting three to four months each, with the first opening in May. When the initiative closed in late June - its had received just 291 applications. But one town, Sagron Mis, failed to attract even one applicant. Nestled at the foot of the Dolomites, Sagron Mis is a sleepy commune made up of two villages, Sagron and Mis. It is known for jaw-dropping views - and boasts many cracking hikes and lookout spots. Inside Britain's most notorious naked village: with nude vicars, bush wars and strict sex rule The town does, however, come with some challenges, despite its many appeals. For starters, it has just one shop to serve its population of 170 residents. Access to other essential services is limited. Its mayor, Marco Depaoli, said: "We have the post office, the cooperative. "But we are lacking in the presence of a general practitioner." The mayor remains optimistic, and said: "It's not a drama. It takes patience. There is no deadline, it is not a rejection of the town." He also said that there was strong interest in his town, even though there were no applications made to live there for cash. "Fifteen people have contacted our municipal offices to ask what the rule is, how it works, how to proceed to obtain funding," he explained. Trentino authorities have allocated over an eyewatering £8.6million to the initiative since it launched last year. The scheme covers municipalities in areas like Val di Non, Val di Sole, Primiero, Valsugana, and others. Both Italian nationals and foreign residents can apply. 5 The holiday hotspot has failed to attract new residents Credit: Marco Rech

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) POTENTIAL jurors in Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking trial are being grilled on whether they recognize any celebrities on a list of 190 names presented during jury selection. They've also been asked if they've seen the horrific video of Combs, 55, beating ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura as the meticulous process of seating a jury gets underway in Manhattan. 7 Sean 'Diddy' Combs is seen in a court sketch on day one of jury selection Credit: Reuters 7 Combs's attorney, Brian Steel, is working to select jurors for the high-profile trial in Manhattan Credit: AFP 7 As part of the jury selection process, potential jurors were asked if they were familiar with Michael B. Combs has been sitting in jail since September, awaiting trial on five criminal counts. He's accused of racketeering, two counts of sex trafficking, and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The first part of his trial finally got underway on Monday as Judge Arun Subramanian, the prosecution, and Combs' defense began questioning around 150 people to determine if they should serve on the jury. READ MORE ON DIDDY NO DEAL Diddy turns down plea deal ahead of sensational trial as he faces life in prison Potential jurors were questioned about the list of 190 celebrities and public figures, which included actors Michael B. Jordan and Mike Myers and rappers Kanye West and Kid Cudi, Variety reported. Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams, actor Lauren London, and singer Dawn Richard were also on the list. It isn't known why certain celebrities are named; however, Kid Cudi is believed to be a victim of an alleged 2011 car bombing by Combs. The alleged attack happened after Cudi was rumored to be romantically involved with Combs' then-ex-girlfriend and star witness in the case, Cassie. One juror, identified as number two, reportedly said he was familiar with Jordan and Myers from their films. Rapper Kanye West was also mentioned as the judge asked jurors whether "views on Kanye West" would make them an unfair juror. Due to allegations in the case, potential jurors were also asked whether they were or knew anyone who had been sexually assaulted. It comes as... About 90 minutes into the intense juror questioning, Combs asked the judge for a two-minute bathroom break. "I'm sorry your honor, I'm a little nervous today," Combs said. The hip-hop mogul sported a different look in court as he was permitted to wear street clothes rather than his baggy jail uniform. He arrived in court at 9 am in dark glasses and a dark sweater. The judge excused one person who called the video of Combs dragging and kicking Cassie in a hotel hallway, "damning." Combs' lawyers also fought to remove a woman who worked for HBO as the media company recently released a documentary called The Fall of Diddy. Subramanian overruled the attempt as the woman did not have any involvement in the making of the film. HIGH-PROFILE TRIAL The trial is expected to last eight weeks with opening arguments expected to take place on May 12. All jury members will remain anonymous, as is standard in high-profile cases. Combs faces life in prison if he is convicted of the charges against him. It emerged at a final pre-trial hearing that he turned down a plea deal which would've likely meant less jail time. Combs has insisted he's innocent ever since his arrest last year.
