'Delimitation is a constitutional obligation, not a political motivated': BJP's chief spokesperson NV Subhash in response to DMK criticism
HYDERABAD: BJP chief spokesperson NV Subhash on Saturday dismissed allegations attributing political motives to the Centre's decision to undertake delimitation. "Delimitation is neither arbitrary nor politically motivated. It is a constitutional obligation, clearly laid out under Articles 82 and 170 of the Indian Constitution," he said. He strongly condemned the DMK's "illogical and baseless" objections to the Centre's upcoming delimitation exercise. "Delimitation was a constitutionally mandated process aimed at ensuring fair representation for all citizens," Subhash said. Subhash said that delimitation involves redrawing boundaries to reflect changes in population and ensure equitable representation. "In simple terms, larger populations mean more representatives. That is the spirit of representative democracy," he said. He reminded that under Article 82, the Parliament is required to pass a Delimitation Act after every national census. "Article 170 provides for similar changes at the state level. Delimitation exercises were carried out in 1952, 1963, 1973, and 2002," he said. Hyderabad: BRS party corporators protest at Municipal Corporation office over name change of Annapurna Canteen
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 28 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Party corporators staged a protest at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) office on Saturday, condemning the decision to change the name of the popular Annapurna canteen to Indira Canteen. The Congress government's move to rename Annapurna Canteens as Indiramma Canteens has sparked controversy in Telangana. The protesters, led by the BRS Party, demanded that the GHMC revert to the original name, citing its cultural and symbolic significance. The protesters claimed that the GHMC's decision to rename the canteen was without any valid reason, as there were no improvements or additions to the canteen's services. The corporators also alleged that despite the demonstration being peaceful, the police were rude and restrictive in handling the protest. While speaking to ANI, corporator Sindhu Reddy said, 'We are protesting here at the GHMC office because they have changed the name of the Annapurna canteen. They did not add any extra curries or counters, but changed its name to Indiramma canteen. We demand that they change the name back to Annapurna because it means Goddess of food, which is why KCR put this name... The police are very rude and are not allowing us to do the protest, while we came here for a peaceful demonstration...' Additionally, corporator Kavitha stated to ANI, 'BRS government named this canteen Annapurna and it should not be changed... Indira canteen is not the right word... We are demanding that the decision be taken back.' The Annapurna Canteen Scheme, launched by the previous Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, provided hot, hygienic, and nutritious meals for just Rs 5 to the poor, daily wage workers, and labourers in urban regions of Telangana. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National spokesperson NV Subhash criticised the move, calling it a 'publicity stunt' aimed at impressing the Gandhi family. He demanded that the state government roll back the decision and suggested it was a 'return gift' to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency. 'The BJP demands that the Congress government in Telangana roll back the names from Indira canteens to Annapurna canteens. What is the reason for the Congress government to rename the canteen, which is being run with funds from the state and GHMC, where people are fed for only Rs 5? Is it a return gift to Indira Gandhi on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the emergency... This is nothing but a publicity stunt where the CM Revanth Reddy govt chooses to impress the Gandhi family', NV Subhash told ANI. BRS leader Krishank also slammed the government, stating that it should focus on fulfilling promises rather than changing names. He criticised the Congress government under Revanth Reddy for failing to bring in new schemes and pointed out that the name change was purely election-driven. 'The Congress government under CM Revanth Reddy's rule has done nothing for Hyderabad. Earlier, the KSR government had a Rs 5 Annapurna canteen for the poor, but now, as elections are approaching, Revanth Reddy's government has changed its name from Annapurna canteen to Indira Gandhi canteen. Why be a name changer, bring in new policies, and try to fulfil your 420 promises and guarantees that you have given? But the Congress government is all about changing names... This is really shameful... Revanth Reddy should stop pleasing the Gandhi family, stop being a Gulam to the Gandhi family, and instead try to please the voters who have voted for you', BRS leader Krishank said. Meanwhile, Congress leader Hanumantha Rao defended the decision, praising Indira Gandhi's contributions to the poor. He argued that the renaming was a fitting tribute to the former Prime Minister. Speaking to ANI, Congress Senior leader Hanumantha Rao said, 'The BRS government, under Annapurna Canteens, provided Rs 5 meals. Today, under the leadership of Revanth Reddy, Indiramma Canteens provide meals at Rs 5. They have taken this name because Indira Gandhi brought a revolution; she implemented land ceiling, nationalised banks, and ensured insurance for land labourers. Revanth Reddy's Indiramma Canteen is a fitting tribute. Every poor person who eats that Rs 5 meal should remember Indira Gandhi, as the name is suitable. She brought a revolution in the lives of the poor. By adding her name, everyone will know about her work for the poor. The name for the canteens is fitting, and it should be maintained. Every poor person should eat the Rs 5 meal and remember Indira Gandhi forever. This initiative is good, and I appreciate Revanth Reddy.' (ANI)

Telangana BJP chief Subhash slams government for changing name of Annapurna Canteens
HYDERABAD: Strongly opposing the state government's decision to rename the popular Annapurna Canteens as Indira Canteens, the BJP state unit termed it a 'politically motivated' one. Criticising the decision, BJP state chief spokesperson NV Subhash said: 'Annapurna is not just a name. It symbolises Goddess Annapurna, the divine mother who nourishes the world. To replace such a sacred name with that of a political leader, and that too Indira Gandhi, whose regime imposed the Emergency — the darkest chapter of Indian democracy — is nothing short of an insult to Hindu traditions and collective national memory.' In a press statement issued here, Subhash called the government's decision an 'unwarranted, insensitive and politically motivated' move and a direct affront to the sentiments of the Hindu majority, and yet another attempt to erase cultural symbols deeply rooted in India's civilisational identity.

‘600 Gurukul Schools unable to run over unpaid rents'
Hyderabad: State BJP chief spokesperson NV Subhash questioned the State government that while Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is campaigning for 'Rising Telangana', in reality, people are experiencing a 'Falling Telangana.' Addressing the media on Monday, he said that before the Congress party came to power, Revanth Reddy, the then-PCC president made numerous promises to students, and repeatedly assured them that he would fulfill them after coming to power. Unfortunately, many of these commitments have not been implemented, leading to feelings of betrayal among the students. Students and parents are protesting the closure of over 600 Gurukul schools in the state. The buildings housing these Gurukul schools have been locked by their owners due to unpaid rental fees for the past 10 months. Consequently, the state government is fully responsible for this situation, as it has failed to allocate adequate funds in the budget for education, ignoring the issues faced by the Gurukul schools. The future of 7 lakh students is now at risk, and the government must settle approximately Rs 215 crore in rental dues. The owners of 63 Gurukuls have issued notices to vacate the premises. He said the education department employees are struggling due to unpaid salaries, and nearly 1,800 government schools in the state are being closed down. In contrast, the Narendra Modi government's efforts to establish better educational institutions, like Navodaya and Sainik Schools across the country, including Telangana. Furthermore, the appointments in the state's universities are poorly managed, leaving many positions vacant and causing students to seek education in other states. The state government has made promises but failed to clear fee reimbursements for students in engineering and other professional colleges, resulting in protests from students and parents. Thousands of faculty positions remain unfilled in universities, indicating that education in the state is in disarray. These developments have left the future of the students uncertain. There is a demand for the state government to take immediate action to settle the dues, reopen the Gurukul schools, clear the fee reimbursement arrears, and reopen the closed government schools.
