Chaos at Hasanpura side entry to Jaipur Junction amid construction, lax security
1 2 3 4 5 6 Jaipur: The Jaipur division of North Western Railways (NWR) recently opened the Hasanpura side entry for access to Jaipur Junction railway station. However, ongoing remodelling work has turned the entry and exit from this side into a major inconvenience for passengers. Access from the Hasanpura side is via a service lane leading to a foot-overbridge that connects to various platforms. With the lane closed for construction, vehicles are being directed to take the wrong side of the road to reach the station, creating confusion and safety concerns. When TOI visited the spot Friday, several passengers expressed frustration over the lack of clear signage and safe access. While X-ray baggage scanners at the entry were functional, there was no deployment of Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, raising further security concerns. "For trains arriving or departing from platforms 4 and 5, the Hasanpura side is the most convenient entry point. I went there this morning, but the service lane was closed due to construction. I was asked to drive on the wrong side to reach the station. I had to drop my daughter for the double-decker train—it was chaotic. NWR should at least put-up proper signboards if work is underway," said Jitesh Jhalani, a private employee. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Passengers trying to exit from the Hasanpura side also faced confusion. "I live in Sodala, and this side is the easiest for me. But because of the construction and lack of clear directions, there wasn't a single autorickshaw or mode of transport available here. If the railways have opened this entry, they should ensure it's fully functional," said Ramesh Singh, a passenger who arrived from Jodhpur Friday. Expressing frustration, passengers said the railways should properly inform the public if an entry point is blocked. "When we come to board a train, we usually keep a buffer of 15 to 20 minutes. But with issues like this, it creates panic," said Ramesh Saini, who was dropped near the closed service lane by an autorickshaw and had to walk nearly a kilometre to reach the foot-overbridge from the Hasanpura side. When contacted, Captain Shashi Kiran, chief public relations officer of North Western Railways, said, "If passengers are facing this issue, we will inspect the spot and take necessary steps to clear the bottlenecks and ensure the entry is properly accessible."

CAML to acquire New World Resources for $118m
Central Asia Metals (CAML), a UK-incorporated base metals producer, has entered into a definitive scheme implementation deed with Australian miner New World Resources (NWR) to acquire the latter for approximately A$185m ($118.7m). The cash consideration of A$0.05 per share represents a significant premium, ranging from 78.6% to 150%, over various benchmarks including NWR's last closing price and volume-weighted average prices up to 20 May 2025. CAML will take full ownership of the Antler project, a high-grade copper deposit in Arizona, US, as part of the transaction. The project is expected to yield an average of around 30,000 tonnes per annum of payable copper equivalent throughout its 12-year operational life. NWR's most recent mineral resource estimate for the Antler project reported a total of 14.2 million tonnes with a copper equivalent grade of 3.8%. The transaction is contingent upon several conditions including regulatory approvals from the US and North Macedonia, an independent expert's endorsement and no material adverse changes to NWR's operations. Additionally, the scheme requires the approval of NWR shareholders and the Australian Court. CAML CEO Gavin Ferrar said: "The addition of this high-grade copper project in a tier-one jurisdiction will significantly strengthen our portfolio. We have been impressed by the strength of NWR's team and aim to work with them to integrate the Antler Project, complete the DFS [definitive feasibility study] and work towards a construction decision. 'In addition, the manageable capital expenditures of the Antler Project would provide us the opportunity to fund its development whilst ensuring we maintain a strong financial position." CAML plans to fund the acquisition through existing cash reserves and a new $120m (£89.45m) credit facility, with the transaction not subject to financing or due diligence conditions. The transaction is due to be implemented in September 2025, subject to the conditions of the scheme being satisfied or waived. NWR's Board has recommended the transaction, considering it the best outcome for shareholders compared with other proposals and the risks of independently developing the Antler copper project. The directors, holding approximately 2.56% of NWR shares, intend to vote in favour of the scheme, in line with the independent expert's ongoing approval. NWR managing director Nick Woolrych said: 'The Board decided to pursue this transaction despite receiving exceptionally strong interest from multiple Tier-1 project financiers and strategic partners, which reflects the quality of the Antler Copper Project and its inherent strategic value in the global copper landscape.' In February 2025, NWR received the US federal permit regarding the mine plan of operations application submitted for its Antler project. "CAML to acquire New World Resources for $118m" was originally created and published by Mining Technology, a GlobalData owned brand. One-time Vande Bharat service runs Jodhpur-Delhi route amid airport closure
Jaipur: The North Western Railway (NWR) Monday operated a special Vande Bharat from Jodhpur to Delhi via Jaipur to accommodate the rush due to closure of Jodhpur airport and its flights following the Indo-Pak conflict . The train that started at 2:50pm from Jodhpur was almost full and was planned to reach Delhi by 11:55pm. According to the NWR authorities, this remained a one-time operation towards Delhi as there would be no return journey of this train. Since the Jodhpur airport remained closed during the Indo-Pak conflict, the railway authorities said there was a demand for this train even as the Airport Authority of India (AAI) Monday announced the opening of the airport. Divisional Railway Manager, Jodhpur, Anurag Tripathi, said that considering the extra passenger traffic towards the Jaipur-Delhi route on regular trains and for their convenience, train number 04815 Jodhpur-Delhi Vande Bharat Superfast one-way special was operated via Jaipur. However, passengers travelling on this train said it should be made a regular train as from Jodhpur there is only one Vande Bharat between Jodhpur and Ahmedabad. "This should be made a regular train for its connectivity to the state capital and the national capital from Jodhpur," said Avinash Singh, who travelled on this train up to travelling on this train were elated as some of them remained stranded in Jodhpur since May 8 due to the flight cancellations. "We went to a wedding but had to stay back in Jodhpur for two extra days. This train journey has been pleasant so far," said Ramesh Rajpurohit, who travelled with family to Jodhpur on May 8 to attend a wedding and was returning to Delhi on this train. tnn

Drone activity spotted in Barmer, blackout ordered
With drone activity spotted in Rajasthan's Barmer on Sunday night again, the district administration has ordered a complete blackout. Earlier in the day, blackout was imposed in Jaisalmer, Barmer and other border areas in Rajasthan as a precautionary measure in the wake of Saturday's ceasefire violation by Pakistan. According to the details, compiled by news agency PTI, the measure was put in place in Barmer at 8 pm, while it started at 7.30 pm in Jaisalmer. On Saturday night, panic was triggered in the border areas after the terms of an understanding between India and Pakistan to stop all military actions were violated by the neighbouring country. The normal activities resumed on Sunday and markets reopened. Among other details, the North Western Railway (NWR) also restored the train services that were cancelled or partially cancelled on Saturday due to the tensions between the two countries. In Jaisalmer too, a blackout was imposed on Saturday night as there were reports of drone activity and explosions from Jaisalmer, Barmer and other areas. According to Jaisalmer resident Revant Singh, the frequency of drone activity was lower than the two previous nights. "Drone activity was spotted in the sky, which was a clear violation of the military understanding arrived at on Saturday," Singh told PTI. Not only on Saturday, Jaisalmer and Barmer witnessed drone attacks by Pakistan on Thursday night as well as on Friday night. The Indian defence forces managed to destroy the drones mid-air, and no loss of life or damage to property was reported. The debris of drones and missile-like objects was found from various locations on Saturday. Later, the duration of the blackout was also shortened in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur.
