Ex-WWE Champion Paige Recounts Horrific Backstage Incident: "Someone's Hand Come Over My Mouth, Grabbed Me..."

Paige, whose real name is Saraya-Jade Bevis, was one of the more popoular names in women's WWE. She was the youngest female champion in WWE history, a two-time WWE Divas Champion, and a NXT Women's winner too. She is also the first woman to hold WWE and NXT Women's Championship. After WWE, she went to AEW (All Elite Wrestling) in September, 2022. She was a women's world champion in AEW. On Friday, in her YouTube channel 'Rulebreakers With Saraya', revealed a horrific event. "Like, it was at a wrestling show. And I went out to peek at the crowd, and you know, like most live events, it's just like pipe and drape, you know, so you can peep through. Like, it was really dark. I went down the little hallway, and it was really dark. Really dark. And I peeped through, and then all of a sudden I feel someone's hand come over my mouth — no f**** way — and grabbed me and drag me into the dark. And I'm just like — and I just start freaking out and freaking out. And then he like lets me go, and there's like this light, and then he was like, 'It's just me. I'm just joking, you know," said Saraya. Later, the individual said he was a familiar figure in WWE and added it was a joke. Saraya said: "That's not funny." Triple H, former WWE star and current chief content officer, recently shared a poster of "Unreal - It's More Real Than ouy Think", a Netflix sports series. The show is likely to give fans a behind-the-scenes experience of the WWE. 'WWE: Unreal' will have appearances from John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Chelsea Green, Jey Uso, Xavier Woods, and Triple H himself. The series is aimed at showing the intense work that goes behind the glitz of WWE.

Trish Stratus Debunks Long-Standing WWE Rumor

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has officially debunked a long-standing rumor concerning a dream match that fans have discussed for nearly a decade. In a new interview, Stratus set the record straight about a heavily speculated match against Asuka. For years, it has been rumored that WWE originally wanted Stratus to face Asuka at the NXT TakeOver: Toronto event back in 2016. Speaking with Inside the Ropes, Stratus confirmed this was never in the company's plans. The WWE Rumor Debunked The speculation began because the major NXT event was taking place in Stratus's hometown of Toronto. At the time, Asuka was in the midst of a legendary undefeated streak, and fans assumed a hometown hero like Stratus would be brought in for the major challenger role. "Nope, no, no, that never was a thing," Stratus confirmed. "I think people just assumed it because Toronto and they're like, 'Oh, it's of course it's gonna be Trish Stratus.'" She also pointed out a flaw in one version of the rumor, which claimed she couldn't do the match because she was pregnant. "Don't know if I was even pregnant at that time — 2016, 2016, I was not pregnant. Lies. Debunked it right here. Officially debunked." Trish Stratus seems to have control over both Melina and Mickey James during the WWE RAW Superslam event at Acer Arena , Homebush Stadium on August 4, 2006. Trish Stratus seems to have control over both Melina and Mickey James during the WWE RAW Superslam event at Acer Arena , Homebush Stadium on August 4, 2006. Don Arnold/WireImage Asuka's Reign Of Terror The context of the time explains why the rumor was so believable. In 2016, Asuka was the most dominant force in all of WWE, holding the NXT Women's Championship and an unprecedented undefeated streak that would eventually last for 914 days. She had run through the entire NXT women's roster, and for a major show like TakeOver, a special, credible challenger was needed to face "The Empress of Tomorrow." Given that the event was in Toronto, fans naturally connected the dots to the city's greatest wrestling hero, Trish Stratus. Her own retirement match against Lita at Unforgiven 2006 took place in Toronto, making her synonymous with major events in the city. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation What Really Happened While Stratus was never in the running, WWE did bring back a fellow legend for the match. Mickie James, who had been released from WWE in 2010 and had a successful run in TNA, made her surprise return to the company to challenge Asuka. The match was highly acclaimed and served as a major test for the dominant champion. James's performance was so well-received that it led to her being re-signed to a full-time WWE contract shortly after. After nearly a decade of "what if" scenarios discussed by fans, Stratus has finally put the rumor to rest. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports

WWE Evolution 2025 Quick Highlights: List of All Winners, Top Performers, and More

Evolution 2025 (Image via WWE) Evolution 2025, the second edition of the all-women's professional wrestling pay-per-view event, was a night full of some exceptional performances from the women from all divisions of WWE . Female wrestling stars from the RAW, SmackDown, and NXT divisions made sure that this night, which was only for the women, is remembered for all the right reasons, and helps in advancing women's wrestling even more. The State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, lit up in all its glory, and it's all thanks to the women who have been the catalyst in taking women's wrestling to the next level. From an exciting three-way match for the Intercontinental Championship title between Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, and Becky Lynch to the chaotic fatal-4-way tag team championship match to a Battle Royale that saw wrestling greats come together for a shot at Class in Paris to the finale event between IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley , the night was filled with moments that had the fans thrilled. So now, let's take a look at all the winners and top performers of the night. Intercontinental Championship match In a fiery three-way match between Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, and Becky Lynch, the Intercontinental Championship belt was up for grabs. There were plenty of near falls and near wins, but one or the other kept interrupting before anyone could take the win. At the end, Lynch retained her title by pinning Bayley and getting the win. NXT Women's Championship match The audience was already fired up after the inaugural match before Jacy Jayne and Jordynne Grace entered the ring for the NXT Women's Championship title. While Grace looked to have the upper hand for most of the match, Jayne managed to take the win by using the belt as a weapon and using it on her opponent for a pinfall. And everyone saw Blake Monroe turn heel, right? WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way match Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss , Asuka and Kairi Sane, Sol Ruca and Zairi, and the current Tag team champions, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, put on an amazing show for the fans as the night of Evolution progressed. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo It was the Judgement Day members, though, who managed to continue their tag team domination and retain their title by winning by pinfall. WWE Women's Championship match Tiffany Stratton and WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus came together for an exciting showdown for the Women's Championship belt. Stratus challenged her one-time tag team partner - Stratton, the current title holder, for the championship. And while Stratton managed to retain her title by defeating Stratus, it was the latter who emerged as the star of the show, as the crowd cheered her on even after she lost the match. No Holds Barred match Jade Cargill and Naomi were going to be explosive and that's exactly what they brought into the ring. The weapons came in as soon as the match began and the rivals went at it, taking out all their anger and frustration at each other. Bianca Belair, the special guest referee, felt a little out of place, but the two opponents made sure that all eyes were on them. At the end, Cargill hit Naomi with a Jaded from the top rope through a table, and won the match via pinfall. Battle Royal With many wrestlers inside the ring, it was bound to get chaotic even before the match began. Nikki Bella , alongside Nia Jax and Stephanie Vaquer, were top contenders to win the match, and were actually the last four inside the ring alongside Lash. Finally, the win went to Vaquer, who used her Devil's Kiss to eliminate Lash at the end and win herself a shot at Clash in Paris in August. Women's World Championship match They really left the beat for the last, as IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley came together for a gruelling but classic match that had everyone guessing till the end. With moments of magic all through the fight, Ripley would have won the match had the referee not been knocked out. But the final twist came with Naomi cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase, and taking advantage of battered and bruised Ripley and SKY after a 26-minute-long bout. She threw Ripley out of the ring and did a split-legged moonsault on SKY for the pin and win. WWE Evolution 2025 (7/13/25) Highlights and Results: Naomi shocks with successful MITB cash-in, Tiffany Stratton retains title and more

Image via WWE WWE ended their highly action-packed weekend with the all-women's Premium Live Event, Evolution 2025, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The women of the past and present delivered a memorable night for the ages that saw opportunities being secured, rivalries coming head-to-head, and a shocking end that saw Naomi reign supreme above the entire women's division. Becky Lynch vs. Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria The first match of WWE Evolution was for the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship. All three women displayed an excellent showdown as the workhorse title was at stake. In the final moments, as Bayley had Lyra Valkyria down with a Rose Plant and went to cover her, Becky Lynch used a backslide pin to score the three count and retain her title. Jacy Jayne vs. Jordynne Grace The match was for the NXT Women's Championship. Jacy Jayne had her Fatal Influence cohorts, Jazmyn Nyx and Fallon Henley, ringside. Regardless of that, the challenger Jordynne Grace, who had Blake Monroe in her corner, unleashed her full fury on the champion in an attempt to win the title. However, the Juggernaut came up short when a series of distractions led to Monroe hitting Grace with the belt and Jayne hitting the Rolling Encore on Grace and rolling her up for the pin. In doing so, Monroe turned on her supposed ally, Jordynne Grace. Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez vs. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss vs. Sol Ruca and ZARIA vs. Asuka and 'The Pirate Princess' Kairi Sane This was a Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo All four teams displayed an excellent showing in the tag team showdown, with different styles and in-ring competitors clashing at the same time. However, as the dust settled, it was Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez who managed to retain their tag titles over the entire field. Tiffany Stratton vs. Trish Stratus The generational clash between Tiffany Stratton and Trish Stratus was for the WWE Women's Championship. The two women went against each other in full force, and the match garnered loud 'This is Awesome' chants from the audience. It came to its conclusion when Stratton stopped a moonsault attempt from Stratus and delivered the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to win the match. Jade Cargill vs. Naomi The match was a No Holds Barred match with Bianca Belair serving as the Special Guest referee. Jade Cargill and Naomi made use of the stipulation and unleashed on each other with everything they had. From tables to chairs to kendosticks, they utilized everything to inflict major damage. As the final moments arrived, Naomi was going for a top rope move, but Cargill hit her with a chair to the back. She then delivered the Jaded from the top rope on the table to pin Naomi for the win. Women's Battle Royal The field comprised major superstars from RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. Even so, WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella was also a part of the battle royal. It was a fast-paced match that saw elimination after elimination. Moreover, a highlight saw Lash Legend lifting Nia Jax up. It came down to her and Stephanie Vaquer in the end. She delivered the Devil's Kiss on the apron to eliminate Legend and win the match. With her victory, she now has a guaranteed Women's title match at Clash in Paris PLE. Rhea Ripley vs. IYO Sky This was the main event of the show for the WWE Women's Championship. The champion, IYO Sky, went up in full force against the dominant challenger Rhea Ripley. The match was highly captivating, went all across the entire ringside area, including the crowd, and received loud cheers of 'Women's wrestling' and 'This is Awesome.' Following one of the best matches of the night, the ending saw a huge, shocking turn. Naomi came down to the ring and cashed in her Money in the Bank contract, turning the match into a triple threat. She hit IYO Sky with the briefcase, pushed Ripley aside, and hit Sky with a split leg moonsault to win and become the new WWE Women's World Champion.
