Destination Bec Judd is ‘dying' to visit
Bec Judd is looking forward to ditching her phone and embracing her 'inner zen" during a visit to a country that's long been on her bucket list. The 42-year-old Melbourne A-lister unsurprisingly spends a lot of time on social media sharing the ins and outs of her newly launched Vain-ish podcast, activewear brand Jaggad and Spray Aus tanning company alongside fellow influencer Nadia Bartel, with her almost 1 million Instagram followers. And while she loves the hustle, the mother-of-four is also looking forward to switching off during a wellness tour she will host to Sri Lanka in collaboration with Aussie travel brand, Luxury Escapes. 'I am so excited,' she told 'I love the idea of hosting a gorgeous group in the magical surrounds of Sri Lanka. I'm looking forward to getting off my phone and embracing my inner zen.' Bec, who shares Oscar, 13, Billie, 11, and twins Tom and Darcy, eight, with retired footy great Chris Judd, said 'everything is a rush, a mess and noisy'. 'As a mum of four and someone who's always on the go, I know how important it is to carve out time to reset,' she said. 'I'm looking forward to nine days of silence but I know I'll miss my kids dearly,' she laughed. Bec will be part of Luxury Escapes latest Signature Series tours program, an eight-night, nine-day wellness journey through spiritual landscapes of Sri Lanka. The 32 guests will travel to Santani Wellness Kandy in May 2026, a world-renowned luxury retreat in a former tea plantation in the mountains of central Sri Lanka. '[We will be doing] lots of wellness rituals, yoga, meditation, detoxification, treatments, jungle hikes and eating the most wonderful food. I might even get a cheeky round of golf in,' Bec said. This will be her first time visiting the destination, adding she's only seen images of its beauty and is 'dying' to go. 'I've heard so many amazing things about Santani being the best wellness spa in the world so I'm looking forward to really leaning into everything the experience will offer,' she said, adding that life is chaotic and 'opportunities like this are a privilege to be a part of where I can take the time to focus on my wellness and health'. 'I'm keen to slow down and take time out to chill and reset my nervous system.' The wellness retreat tour comes amid a surge in interest in Sri Lankan travel among Aussies, with Luxury Escapes seeing a 15 per cent year-on-year increase in website searches for the island nation. Adam Schwab, co-founder and CEO of Luxury Escapes, said choosing Sri Lanka for the company's first wellness retreat was an easy decision. 'Its rich culture, incredible natural cuisine and world class wellness scene make it one of the most relaxing but exciting destinations on the map for 2026,' he said. 'Santani is quite simply one of the world's most incredible hotels. Voted as one of the best spa's globally it has also been recognised by TIME Magazine as one of the 'World's Greatest Places' as well as Vogue, Forbes and Condé Nast Traveler.' In 2024, Sri Lanka's tourism sector rebounded significantly, welcoming approximately 2.1 million tourists (a 38 per cent increase) from 2023, according to GoWithGuide. Australia played a big role with 89,573 visitors to the thriving destination. This number made Australia the fifth-largest source market for Sri Lanka in 2024. The Luxury Escapes tour is available to book now with limited places for May 2026.

AFL star breaks silence on split from Nadia Bartel
Three-time AFL premiership player Jimmy Bartel has broken his silence on the very public marriage breakdown between he and ex-wife Nadia Bartel in 2019. While the Brownlow medallist has taken up media jobs since his playing career ended in 2016, Bartel admits he's been largely 'guarded and reserved' about his private life, and even more so about his short-lived marriage. 'I've never commented on anything to do about my separation. I never will because I just don't think it's needed. And so just go about my business,' he told the A Life of Greatness podcast with Sarah Grynberg. Addressing the public fallout from his high-profile split, the former Geelong star said he simply can't fathom 'what's so fascinating about myself'. 'Like there's nothing that I can do and say. And other people's opinion on me is none of my business. And so they'll form their own narrative, their own thinking or their own thought,' the 41-year-old said. 'The only thing that matters to me is the people that I care about and I just foster those relationships, and it can be tough at times.' Shortly after the couple's separation following five years of marriage, Nadia, 40, said that it had been 'a very difficult month for my boys'. 'My single focus now is to continue to protect, care for, and provide for my two beautiful boys as this is a personal matter. I am so thankful for my very supportive family and friends,' she said. Speaking more recently on the challenging period to friends Bec Judd and Jess Roberts on the Vain-ish podcast, Nadia revealed, 'I was in a bad place'. 'When you're going through something, you're willing to do anything,' she added, reflecting on her decision to take up intense breathwork therapy. The former footy star said he's been reluctant to open up on the matter because he feels there's little to gain from his personal life being put under the microscope. 'You do want to bite back and you do want to respond or you want to go, well, 'I'll say my bit', but people don't care, deep down they don't. The only one people who care are the people that actually care about you. And so that's all I worried and focused about,' he said.

'The only thing that matters to me is the people that I care about and I just foster those relationships and it can be tough at times. Pic: Instagram The 41-year-old stated he would never speak publicly about the end of his marriage and what caused the pair to drift apart. 'I've never commented on anything to do about my separation. I never will because I just don't think it's needed. And so I just go about my business,' he added. The former couple tied the knot in 2014 and were married for five years before separating, they share two sons, Henley and Aston. 'It's been a very difficult month for me and the boys,' Nadia said shortly after the separation. 'My single focus now is to continue to protect, care for, and provide for my two beautiful boys as this is a personal matter. I am so thankful for my very supportive family and friends.' The pair have both since moved on with their love lives with Jimmy welcoming a baby girl into the world with his girlfriend Amelia Shepperd in April, 2023. Nadia on the other hand went public with former footballer Peter Dugmore early last year with the pair said to still be going strong. While Jimmy has remain tight-lipped about the divorce, Nadia opened up on the dark period last year to her Instagram followers. 'I felt like my life had ended, which is silly to think now,' the 39-year-old said in a video. 'You do think you'll never be able to date again – I know I did feel like that … having two small children and not having time for anything else. 'It was really hard for me as well because I'd been with my ex since I was 22 or 23, so to even think about dating again felt like the most foreign thing to me, and I didn't even know how I'd handle any of that.' Nadia admitted she'd got to a point where she 'didn't even want to meet anyone'. 'I thought, 'I'm so happy with my two boys',' she said. After a longtime of being closed off, Nadia opened up and said that for anyone who is struggling 'I really do believe it always works out. 'If you're going through something horrible (and) you can't imagine ever being happy again, and you feel like there's no future … things really do work out, it just takes time,' she said. 'It's nice to know you can have children, you can have blended families, and you can be happy.' Bartel opens up on family troubles The 2007 Brownlow medallist also detailed harrowing incidents from his childhood in the wide-ranging podcast interview, revealing his mother had been given a life or death ultimatum from his father. Bartel in 2016 courageously went public with details of alleged domestic abuse he and his two sisters witnessed during their childhood. The three-time premiership winner has been a brave advocate for mental health and domestic abuse issues and in 2016 wore a beard throughout the entire AFL season to raise awareness and funds for the 'Face Up To DV' campaign. His father Terry died in 2010. He said his parents separated when he was just one, but it was his father's alleged violence towards his mother and others in the family that opened his eyes. Bartel shared traumatic details of one alleged incident when he was aged 14. 'Even though my parents had separated, he'd come around home and my mum had placed an (apprehended violence order) AVO on him, he came around and told her to lift the AVO or else he was going to take mum,' Bartel said. 'And he did. He took my mum out of the house and took her. I remember looking out the lounge room window and he was taking my mum and I only found out until I was older, he was taking mum out to the back of Geelong and pretty much gave her the ultimatum, either remove the AVO or this is the end for you. 'And so it was a tough decision for my mum, do you leave three kids with no mum or you come back home and you remove the AVO and you try and manage things a different way. 'So it was, it wasn't until I was older, you know, in your teenage years where you start to work out, hang on, this is not the hero that you want as a dad.' The terrifying incident resulted in Bartel striving to become a better father to his two sons, and now daughter, in the wake of what he and his family went through. Despite what his mother endured, the AFL icon said she never said a negative word about his father. Another lesson he took on board and why he continues to keep details on his relationships close to the chest. Originally published as AFL great Jimmy Bartel breaks silence on divorce to Nadia Bartel

Jimmy Bartel makes rare statement on his split with ex-wife Nadia as he reveals why he has stayed silent
Jimmy Bartel has made a rare statement on the breakdown of his marriage to former wife Nadia Bartel. The pair, who split in 2019, have largely kept the details of their divorce out of the public eye. The 41-year-old former footballer however broke his silence this week while speaking to the A Life of Greatness with Sarah Grynberg podcast, as he shared why he's stayed mum on the end of his relationship. When asked how he navigated the split while in the public eye, Jimmy replied, 'I didn't really. I don't see what's so fascinating about myself.' He went on to explain that he stays out of public dialogue about what went wrong. 'There's nothing that I can do and say. And other people's opinions of me are none of my business. And so they'll form their own narrative, their own thinking or their own thought,' he said. 'The only thing that matters to me is the people that I care about and I just foster those relationships and it can be tough at times. You do want to bite back and you do want to respond... but people don't care, deep down they don't. 'The only people who care, are the people that actually care about you. And so that's all I worried and focused about.' Jimmy added that he will never speak publicly on the end of his marriage. 'I've never commented on anything to do about my separation. I never will because I just don't think it's needed. And so I just go about my business,' he said. Jimmy addressed his split from wife Nadia shortly after they announced their separation in 2019. The retired AFL star appeared on 3AW's pre-match coverage and insisted it was a 'private matter.' Suggesting things have been difficult for himself and his then-wife of five years, Jimmy said on air: 'It's not great.' He refused to go into any further detail surrounding their break-up, adding: 'I am probably not going to provide any commentary on it. 'I know I am in the public eye and people are interested, but it is a private matter and I ask for a bit of respect because obviously Nadia and the boys [are] involved.' Nadia and Jimmy, who were once considered the glamour couple of the AFL, separated in 2019 after five years of marriage. The couple married in an elaborate wedding on the Bellarine Peninsula in 2014 and share two sons, Henley and Aston. Nadia said at the time: 'It's been a very difficult month for me and the boys.' 'My single focus now is to continue to protect, care for, and provide for my two beautiful boys as this is a personal matter,' she continued. 'I am so thankful for my very supportive family and friends.' Nadia and Jimmy first met in 2008 while attending the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix. The former Geelong Cats player proposed four years later in Mexico. Nadia recently recalled 'the most intense experience' she had following her devastating split from her husband. The Henne designer, 40, revealed new details about their break-up with best friends Bec Judd and Jess Roberts on their new podcast Vain-ish. Nadia said she turned to meditation and breathwork to 'recentre' herself in the wake of her divorce because she was not coping at all. 'I got into that after the split from my marriage,' she told the pair. Speaking of her breathwork journey, Nadia said that the recommendation came from a mate who 'knew I was struggling'. Jimmy, famous for his tenure with the Geelong Football Club, welcomed a baby girl with his now-girlfriend Amelia Shepperd on April 4, 2023.
