"She Was Writhing In Pain": Girl Dies, Family Accuses Hospital Of Lapses
A teenager who fell unconscious allegedly due to loud DJ music died hours later in Bihar. The 15-year-old, who was suffering from a heart disease, was rushed by her family to a hospital where she died. The family of Pinky Kumari - from Rasidpur village - has accused the doctors of delay in treatment and complained to the police. They said they had to wait for an hour at the hospital for treatment while the girl was writhing in pain. Around 11 pm on Wednesday, a wedding ritual was underway in the neighbouring house where DJ music was being played at a high volume. The neighbours allegedly took out a procession of sorts with the DJ, and the girl went out to see it and suddenly fainted. After this, the family took her to Sadar Hospital on a bike. The girl's father, a rickshaw puller, said that only formalities were done in the name of treatment in the hospital. He alleged that the girl died due to the negligence of the doctors. The girl's uncle, Motilal Sah, accused doctor Ashish Kumar of negligence. He said that the treatment started about an hour after they reached the hospital. During this time, the girl kept writhing in pain, but no one treated her, he said. He said that they have complained at the local police station. Her family has demanded that the administration scan the CCTV footage of the hospital and take action against the negligent doctor and other employees. The angry family members also raised slogans against the hospital administration. Soon, locals joined them in large numbers. They demanded strict action against the accused doctors. On receiving the information of the incident, Nagar Parishad Chairman Rajan Nandan Singh also reached the spot. He said, "This is clearly a case of negligence of the doctor and the hospital," adding that he will meet the District Officer and apply for action against the concerned officers and doctors. Soon after, the police team reached the hospital and pacified the people protesting against the hospital administration. The uncle said that Pinky was suffering from a heart disease and she was also treated at the Pant Hospital in Delhi. Her father, Pramod used to arrange for medicines worth about Rs 1500 every week by driving a rickshaw, he said.

Collectorate chatbot to provide real time weather updates and disaster helpline support
Nagpur: With the early onset of the monsoon, the district collectorate has supercharged its WhatsApp chatbot, which was already familiar to citizens for lodging complaints, by turning it into a digital disaster response hub. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Now, in addition to complaint handling, the chatbot offers real-time weather updates, flood alerts, and direct access to emergency contacts, making it a lifeline in times of crisis. Earlier, users texting 'Hi' to the chatbot at 8669494944 would get three choices: Collectorate, Tehsil Office, and Nagar Parishad. In a recent update, the Tehsil Office and Nagar Parishad were merged into one option. The third option was replaced with a new 'Disaster Management' section, considered a critical feature as the monsoon approaches. "It's not just about convenience, it's about saving time when it matters most. We've made sure citizens have all the information they need, right in their phones," said a senior official from the district administration, who confirmed the rollout. Once inside the Disaster Management section, users can access real-time weather forecasts for the next five days, complete with rainfall predictions, temperature highs and lows, and official warnings issued for the region. The data isn't generic; it's location-specific and updated in real time to reflect the latest alerts from meteorological and disaster authorities. The service goes much further. Users can also check current water levels in lakes, rivers, and dams across the district, which is considered a crucial tool in flood-prone areas. In addition, the chatbot provides PDFs and official documents, including the district's Disaster Management Plan, the Heatwave Action Plan, maps showing flood-prone villages, water flow maps, and detailed rainfall analysis broken down by taluka. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Sources in the department said that while the new feature was rolled out and is already accessible to the public, some elements are still a work in progress and will be fully functional in the coming days. From precautions to take in extreme weather to legal guidelines under the Disaster Management Act, the platform is packed with practical, actionable content.

Several organisations oppose proposal of changing Mount Abu's name
Jaipur, Protest against the proposal of changing the name of Mount Abu, the sole hill station in Rajasthan, and banning non-vegetarian food and alcohol consumption in the open has gained momentum with several organisations expressing anguish over the proposed move. Several organisations oppose proposal of changing Mount Abu's name They argued that it will severely impact the local economy. A letter from the department of local self government to the nagar parishad commissioner on April 25 had sought a "factual comment" of the commissioner regarding renaming Mount Abu as 'Aburaj Teerth' and prohibiting meat and liquor consumption in the open. Looking at the religious significance of Mount Abu, a proposal to change the name to 'Aburaj Teerth' was passed in the board meeting of the Nagar Parishad in October last year. The proposal was sent to the state government, where it is pending. After this, several MLAs of the ruling party wrote letters to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to change Mount Abu's name due to its religious significance and ban liquor and meat consumption in the open. Local businessmen argue that Mount Abu is known worldwide by this name and changing the name will create confusion. Moreover, prohibiting non-veg food and liquor consumption will drastically reduce the number of tourists, they argued. Twenty-three organisations, including Mount Abu Hotel Association, Laghu Vyapar Sangh, Sindhi Seva Samaj, Valmiki Samaj, Muslim Auquaf Committee, and Nakki Lake Vyapar Sansthan, handed over a memorandum, addressed to the chief minister to Sub Divisional Officer Dr Anshu Priya on Monday. The SDM said that the proposal is pending at the state government level. Saurabh Gangadia, secretary of Mount Abu Hotel Association, said that nearly five to six thousand tourists visit Mount Abu daily, and most of them come from neighbouring Gujarat, which is a dry state. "The entire economy of Mount Abu is run on tourism activities and such a move to declare Mount Abu a 'Teerth' and prohibiting liquor and meat will destroy the economy," he said. He claimed that nearly 15000 people were directly or indirectly associated with tourism-related activities in Mount Abu and if the number of tourists drops, it will have a negative impact on their livelihood. "With a sharp decline in tourists, there will be an increase in unemployment and migration and business units will shut down," Dinesh Mali, secretary of Street Vendors Committee, said. "There is absolutely no need to change the name and take such steps which have the potential of causing great harm to the economy and its people," he added. The local business stakeholders said that the name 'Mount Abu' is internationally established and it features in global travel books, Google Maps, Wikipedia, tourism portals, travel advisories, foreign tour packages, international directories and academic texts. According to the tourism department, the history of Mount Abu can be traced back to the Puranas. Known as "Arbudaranya" or "the forest of Arbhuda" in the Puranic Age, Mount Abu is described to have served as a retreat for sage Vashistha. A popular mythological story associated with Mount Abu mentions a serpent named Arbhuda, who had saved the life of Nandi, Lord Shiva's mount, here.
