Mahavatar Narsimha Box Office Day 12: Ashwin Kumar's Film Mints Rs 106 Crore Despite Drop
Mahavatar Narsimha, directed by Ashwin Kumar, is the highest-grossing Indian animated film, earning Rs 106 crore in 12 days. Mahavatar Narsimha Movie Box Office Collections: Despite facing the usual weekday slump, Mahavatar Narsimha continues to prove its might at the box office. Now in its second week, the Ashwin Kumar-led animated mythological film has not only cemented its place as the highest-grossing Indian animated movie ever, but also managed to bounce back smartly after a noticeable dip. On Day 12, the film raked in a solid Rs 106 crore in total collections, a feat made even more impressive given the Monday slowdown it faced earlier this week. To counter the revenue drop on its second Monday, the makers rolled out a clever discounted ticket offer on Tuesday. The strategy worked in the film's favour, leading to a 7.48 per cent uptick in collections on August 5. Made on a modest budget of Rs 15 crore, Mahavatar Narsimha is proving to be a box office giant. On its second Tuesday (Day 12), the Sandalwood animated film added Rs 7.9 crore (net) to its impressive domestic earnings, as per data from industry tracker Sacnilk. After nearly two weeks in cinemas, the film's total India net collection now stands at Rs 106.20 crore. Monday (Day 11) saw a noticeable dip, with the film bringing in Ras 7.35 crore, reflecting a sharp 68.18 per cent fall following its robust second weekend performance. When it comes to audience turnout, Mahavatar Narsimha maintained steady interest with an overall Telugu occupancy rate of 29.55 per cent on Day 12. Globally, the film is soaring just as high. During its 11-day theatrical run across international and domestic markets, Mahavatar Narsimha amassed a whopping Rs 121 crore gross worldwide. According to reports, Mahavatar Narsimha, now the highest-grossing animated Indian film, is expected to make its digital debut on streaming giant JioHotstar, at least in its Hindi version. Film trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal predicted the move, suggesting that the film's massive popularity could translate well into the OTT space. As for the regional versions — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada — sources indicate they may find their way onto separate regional platforms. Produced by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, Mahavatar Narsimha has rewritten the record books, overtaking international hits like Spider-Man, The Incredibles, and Kung Fu Panda to become the highest-grossing animated film in India. The film follows the popular mythological Hindu legend involving Narsimha, the fourth divine avatar of Lord Vishnu, who was part-man, part-lion creature. God is invoked by Bhakt Prahlad, one of His biggest devotees, as the boy's uncle, Hiranyakashyap, tries to kill him. It is believed that Narsimha appeared from inside a pillar to assassinate King Hiranyakashyap. Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the screenplay is penned by Jayapurna Das and Rudra Pratap Ghosh. Presented in five Indian languages, Mahavatar Narsimha has been edited by Kleem Productions and produced by Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
