Nathan Fillion Based Guy Gardner From SUPERMAN on a Character From THE GOLDEN GIRLS — GeekTyrant
In James Gunn's Superman movie, there's one character who's already stealing scenes before the film even drops, Green Lantern's loudmouth wildcard, Guy Gardner. Nathan Fillion is playing the character, and he seems to be having the time of his life channeling one of DC's most chaotic, lovable jerks. We've seen bits and pieces of Fillion's Guy Gardner in the trailers and he's snarky, cocky, rocking that unapologetic bowl cut, and it's clear he's nailing the vibe. But in a recent appearance on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast, Fillion revealed something that threw fans for a delightful loop, his performance is inspired by… Sophia from The Golden Girls . Sophia is Estelle Getty's no-nonsense, zero-filter queen from the classic sitcom. He explained: 'You know, I took my inspiration from the oldest cast member from Golden Girls, where she just, whatever she wanted to say, just there was no filter. 'She just said, Thank you, Estelle Getty. Thank you. Just whatever it is, there it is, he's just gonna say it. Part of his origin was he was at one point hit by a bus, and was in a coma. 'So I just say that's the thing that flipped the switch. That's the thing that caused a little bit of brain damage. Now he's just… off a little bit.' It's a fun and hilarious choice, but it works. Guy Gardner has always been the lantern who says the quiet part loud, often to the dismay of teammates and fans alike, and Fillion clearly gets that. He's giving the character dimension, layering the bravado with something both bizarre and endearing. As for the character's look, particularly the bowl cut, Fillion wasn't about to let it go. He said: 'There was some talk about different hairstyles. There was some talk about some different types of things we were going to go. I was team bowl cut the whole way. It's canon. It's set. 'I said, If we don't do a bowl cut, we're going to hear about it,' he said. That's the kind of comic book loyalty we respect. When asked if taking on a lesser-known character came with added pressure, Fillion didn't see it that way. In fact, he saw it as a creative gift. 'I think if anything else there's a freedom. I think the real stakes and that kind of stress would probably be on David. You know, you're playing Superman. Good luck. 'People have a lot of expectations. But if you're coming in with something that's a little fresh for some people, it's all on you. Like, hey, I get to decide how this is gonna go.' And for those wondering if we'll see Gardner's infamous Green Lantern constructs, Fillion gave a big 'Absolutely'—before immediately pulling a classic Guy move and dodging the details. 'Exactly what you'd expect from Guy Gardner. I mean, if you said, 'Hey, there's an emergency. We need a Green Lantern,' Guy Gardner is the guy you hope you don't get. 'There's thousands of them out there, all over the universe. 'God, please not Guy. Not Guy.' You got Guy. 'Damn it! Damn it!'' Whatever he's bringing to the table, one thing's for sure, Fillion's Guy Gardner is going to be one of the wild cards to watch when Superman hits theaters on July 11.

Nathan Fillion Insisted on Guy Gardner's Bowl Cut in SUPERMAN: 'It's Canon, It's Set' — GeekTyrant
When it came time to bring Guy Gardner to life in James Gunn's Superman , Nathan Fillion had one non-negotiable: the haircut. Yes, that haircut. The infamous, much-mocked, gloriously iconic '80s bowl cut. And according to Fillion, there was never really another option. Speaking on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast, Fillion revealed that while there were discussions behind the scenes about what kind of wig his Green Lantern character would rock, he was firmly planted on one side of the hair debate. 'There was some talk about different hairstyles. There was some talk about some different types of things we were gonna go [with]. I was team bowl cut the whole way. It's canon, it's set. I said, 'If we don't do a bowl cut, we're gonna hear about it.'' Guy Gardner has worn a few different looks over the years, but it's that awkward, perfectly rounded mop from Justice League International that fans still remember. But even though the bowl cut is from the comics, fans strill complained! For Fillion, who previously voiced Hal Jordan in several DC animated films, leaning into the absurdity was part of the fun, but also the legacy. While not all fans are into seeing a live-action superhero rock a bowl cut, Fillion knew how important it was to stay true to the source material, even if it meant putting on a wig. As the star of The Rookie , Fillion talked about wearing a wig and how wasn't about to show up on ABC primetime looking like a sentient cereal bowl: 'Now, here's the thing. I have another job, with a boss who's kind enough to let me out for other projects. But I think he would draw the line [at] a bowl cut police officer.' Probably except for me, nobody wants to see his character John Nolan chasing down criminals while looking like he just stepped out of a 1989 high school yearbook. Fans can expect plenty of bowl cut action in Superman , and it won't stop there. Fillion's Guy Gardner is already set to return in Peacemaker Season 2 where he'll appear alongside Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl and Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord. He'll also play a major role in the upcoming Lanterns series, currently slated for early 2026. In the meantime, just embrace the bowl!

PEACEMAKER Season 2: James Gunn Teases Huge Cameos, a SUPERMAN Tie-In, and DCU Connections — GeekTyrant
James Gunn is not holding back when it comes to Peacemaker Season 2. With the DCU getting a full-blown reboot, Gunn is making sure Peacemaker thrives in his future DC plans. In a new interview with EW, Gunn shed some light on what fans can expect, and it's a lot. The recently released trailer already gave us a glimpse of what's coming, including the official debut of characters like Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner and Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl. But those cameos? That's just the beginning. Gunn said: 'I developed it along the way, in conjunction with the other DC projects that we're doing, so it's very much connected to Superman and it's very much connected to what comes after. 'I had a rough idea of what I was going to do, but it was actually quite different than what the show ended up being.' One of the key connective tissues between Peacemaker and the larger DCU is a piece of tech introduced in Season 1 called the Quantum Unfolding Chamber or QUC, which was created by Peacemaker's deeply problematic father, White Dragon. This pocket-dimension technology is apparently the center of Season 2's story and will carry over into Gunn's Superman film. Gunn shared: 'You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. 'The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2... We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman.' He then teased: 'There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show.' Naturally, this opens the door for a lot of wild possibilities like alternate timelines, doppelgängers, retcons, and whatever else Gunn's imagination is cooking up behind the scenes. As for Peacemaker himself, we're picking up 'roughly' two years after the events of Season 1, and Chris Smith has developed a bit of an ego. Having saved the world from the Butterflies, he thinks he's ready for the big leagues. 'We come into season 2 with Peacemaker knowing that he saved the world from the Butterflies. He thinks he's a big star now, and he should be a real superhero. 'And we see at the very beginning of episode 1 that he's meeting with the group of superheroes from Superman, and he's basically interviewing for membership in the group. But they just mock him the entire time, so he's not taken seriously.' Gunn goes on to say: 'He's still considered a punchline among all of the other metahumans, so he's starting the season in a bad place. As are all of our heroes, all of the 11th Street kids — well, everybody but Vigilante [Freddie Stroma], who just always seems to be okay with everything.' Warner Bros. describes Season 2 as continuing 'the story of Christopher 'Chris' Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.' So, we've got big cameos coming, Superman connections, dimension-hopping tech, and Peacemaker still being a lovable jackass. I'm excited to see how this plays out and I hoipe that Gunn sticks the landing with his big an ambitious plans.

Rumored Details Surface For SUPERMAN Post-Credits Scenes — GeekTyrant
Rumors about the post-credits scenes for James Gunn's Superman have surfaced, and if what's being said is even halfway true, DC fans have some cool things to look forward too. If this is true, this is spoiler information, so proceed with caution. According to Film Threat, early details from recent test screenings claim that Gunn's DCU kickoff includes not one, but two post-credits scenes. The first reportedly introduces Brainiac, who is one of Superman's most iconic and long-anticipated villains. The second is an appearance by Lanterns star Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. Now, before anyone starts stitching together a new fan theory timeline or updating their DCU bingo cards, it's worth noting that this info is far from confirmed. Industry insider Daniel Richtman chimed in with a reality check, saying, 'None of the Superman test screenings so far have featured the post-credits scene.' That's not to say there won't be any post-credits scenes at all, or that there hasn't been at least one screening with the scenes attached, but right now, no one knows for sure what they'll be. The idea of Brainiac being set up as Superman's next villain is awesome. As for Green Lantern, we know that Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardener will also appear in the Lanterns series, that the poster credits scene could set tgat up. We're still a ways out from Superman hitting theaters, and Gunn's been playing things close to the chest. Until then, let the speculation fly.
