Biker seriously injured in Wolverhampton crash with car near hospital
A motorbike rider suffered 'serious injuries' in a crash with a car near a Wolverhampton hospital. The incident took place in Wolverhampton Road, near New Cross Avenue and close to New Cross Hospital at around midday on Easter Sunday (April 20). West Midlands Police was called to the scene and Wolverhampton Road was shut off while the incident was dealt with. It posted on X and said: 'Diversion - Wolverhampton Road is closed due to a police incident. 'Bus numbers 59, 69, 9 To Walsall, Ashmore Park diverted Dean Road, Wednesfield Way, New Cross Avenue, Wolverhampton Road. 'Reverse of the above in the opposite direction.' 'It happened near New Cross Hospital just after 12pm today (April 20). 'The motorbike rider, a man, was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries. 'The driver of the car remained at the scene and is helping with our enquiries. 'Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101 quoting Log 1499 of 20 April.' There was residual queuing traffic in the area according to traffic information service, Inrix, but it said all lanes have been reopened.

National Express West Midlands marks major milestone with new buses
RESIDENTS can now enjoy "smoother, quieter and greener bus journeys" thanks to a new fleet of zero-emission buses now in service across the region. It comes as National Express West Midlands rolls out 170 new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 double-decker zero-emission buses as part of a £95 million investment to modernise its fleet, reinforcing the company's commitment to creating a more sustainable future for public transport. The arrival of these state-of-the-art buses brings the total number of electric buses in operation to 329, meaning nearly a quarter of National Express West Midlands' bus fleet is now zero emissions. Each electric bus saves an average of 61 tonnes of carbon annually, reducing carbon emissions by almost 20,000 tonnes every year - a significant step towards tackling climate change and improving air quality in the Midlands. Antony Goozee, Bus Strategy and Commercial Director at National Express West Midlands, said: 'Replacing our diesel buses with electric vehicles and modernising our depots are key steps in our journey towards operating a fully zero-emission bus fleet by 2030. "These new clean, green double-decker buses are not just about improving efficiency and reducing our environmental impact, they also deliver a better experience for our passengers with quieter, smoother and more comfortable journeys.'

Bad parking on Midlands street diverts hospital bus route
Bus passengers face delays in the West Midlands today due to 'inconsiderate drivers'. Cars have been 'badly parked' on a street, meaning that buses cannot pass through the road. It has affected the No 89 route which runs along the run between West Bromwich and the Midland Met Hospital in Smethwick. The 89 will be diverting in both directions via Kendrick Way. NX West Midlands apologised to passengers affected by the disruption. Taking to X/Twitter, the operator warned of the disruption taking place today. In a message posted at 1.33pm today (March 8), the operator wrote: "Service disruption. "Due to an badly parked cars blocking Glover Street, West Bromwich. "89 will be diverting both directions by using Kendrick Way. "We apologise for any disruption to your journey."

Birmingham: Man struck by car in hit-and-run dies
A man has died after being struck in a hit-and-run car crash in incident happened on Audley Road, Stechford, at about 21:10 GMT on Sunday.
