Pensacola woman accused of using stolen identity to buy Chevrolet Silverado, deputies say
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A Pensacola woman is accused of using another person's identity to buy a Chevrolet Silverado at an automobile dealership in Escambia County, Florida. Teen arrested in Fairhope shooting Brandi Michelle Neal, 51, is in the Escambia County Jail on several fraud charges and grand theft of a motor vehicle, has learned. She is being held without bond, jail records show. 'She would steal another's identity and try to buy that truck in that innocent person's name without their knowledge,' an Escambia County Sheriff's Office Facebook post said. 'She entered a local dealership and, using the name that's not her own, purchased a bright red Chevrolet Silverado.' According to the ECSO post, after Neal took possession of the truck, an acquaintance of hers later had it. The next day, a private landowner requested that the abandoned truck be towed off the property. 'Ultimately, the truck was reported stolen by fraud and returned to the dealership,' ECSO's post said. Neal then learned that her truck had been recovered and contacted deputies about having it returned to her, still under her false identity, according to ECSO. Deputies ultimately did not return the vehicle to her, and she was taken into custody under the name Brandi Michelle Neal, as stated by the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office stated that she also goes by the name Chyna White (Chyna Whyt) on Facebook. Wichita police boost security as Riverfest kicks off downtown
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — As Riverfest prepares to welcome thousands downtown starting Friday, Wichita police are ramping up security to keep festivalgoers safe during the nine-day event. The Wichita Police Department says it will deploy a full range of resources, including its SWAT team, bomb squad, K-9 units, drones, mounted officers, and traffic patrols. Spotters will also monitor crowds from elevated positions, while drones will help track activity from above. 19-year-old charged with murder of pregnant Wichita woman 'We're going to have SWAT down there, we're going to have the bomb squad down there, K-9's, the drones, the mounted unit, traffic officers—so everything we can do to provide as much security as we can and to make everyone feel as safe and as comfortable as they can down there,' said WPD Lieutenant Stephanie Neal. Neal said officers are prepared for a variety of scenarios, including those that have become increasingly common at large gatherings worldwide. 'Given the climate and everything that's happening not only in the United States but across the world—where people are driving through crowds at events, there are active shooters at events—we try to plan as much as we can and as best as we can in the event any of those events would occur here,' she said. Police emphasize that public awareness remains key. 'If they do see something that makes them uncomfortable, that they think is suspicious… we encourage them to go report that to a police officer so we can address that,' Neal said. Riverfest attendees should expect to pass through metal detectors at the gates to both the main festival area and the carnival. No weapons or pocketknives will be allowed inside the event footprint, and backpacks and wagons will be subject to search. 'Keep your weapons at home… Don't leave any valuables in your car, especially not in plain sight,' Neal warned. Many of the officers working at Riverfest are doing so on an off-duty, overtime basis, paid for by the festival. Neal noted this helps maintain regular police coverage for the rest of the city during the event. 'So officers sign up and they get assigned to those positions… We try not to pull from any on-duty officers because we don't want to use resources that should go to the rest of the community,' she said. Neal had one final message for festivalgoers: 'Just have fun and stay safe out there.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Woman Starts Cleaning House—What Dog Does in Response Has Everyone in Tears
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The internet's hearts have melted over a very good dog who helped his owner clean the house without being asked. Margaret Anne Neal, 28, lives in Jackson, Tennessee, with her 9-year-old dog Koda, who she adopted as a puppy while in college. "He was found in the road by a sorority sister of mine," she told Newsweek. "He'd just been abandoned there at only a few weeks old with a broken tail. "As soon as I saw her Facebook post about needing someone to adopt him, I knew he was my soul dog." Since then, Koda and Neal have been through it all together, with her loyal dog by her side as she graduated college and grad school, bought her first home, started a business, and got married. "I feel like we've lived 100 lives together. Every year his face gets a little more grey and it reminds me that even 100 more years would never be enough with him," she said. "My dad always says 'Koda is one of the smartest dogs I've ever met,' because he's truly so human-like." Now a video showing one of Koda's intelligent and adorable moments has gone viral since being posted to Neal's TikTok account @margaretanneneal on May 25, racking up close to half a million views. In words over the video, she wrote: "When I tell you my dog is perfect, I mean he saw me cleaning the house and cleaned up all his toys and put them in one place and stood next to them until I noticed." From left: Koda gets a head massage from his owner, and right, the toys he tidied up himself. From left: Koda gets a head massage from his owner, and right, the toys he tidied up himself. TikTok @margaretanneneal The clip showed the older dog lying across Neal's lap, looking totally relaxed as she massaged his head—a proper reward for cleaning up his toys. It then panned to the living room, where a pile of his toys could be seen neatly stacked in the middle of the room. Neal wrote in the caption: "No one can tell me he's not absolutely perfect in every way." And TikTok users agreed, awarding the sweet video more than 140,000 likes, as one commenter sweetly declared: "Everyone thinks they have the best dog and everyone is right." "I'm so glad you noticed and had that conscious moment with him," another said, while another described the video as "the cutest thing I've ever seen in my entire life." Others shared their own stories, one recalling: "My grandma taught her dog to clean up his toys, and one time he came over and I have three dogs and their toys are always all over, and he picked them all up and put them in their toy box." But another admitted: "Aww my dog follows behind me ripping cotton out of his toys while I clean." Read more Is your dog secretly a genius? Expert reveals 6 signs Is your dog secretly a genius? Expert reveals 6 signs Neal told Newsweek Koda had "never" cleaned up his toys like this before, but has always been a "very observant" dog. "I work from home most days so he is my shadow. I'll say 'let's go to work' and he knows to run into my office and sit by my desk. Usually with a toy in tow!" she said. Dogs can process speech quickly, and are good at observing instruction words such as sit, stay, or down—or in Koda's case, let's go to work. However, they don't learn words in the same way as adult humans, but in the same way as babies, which is why dogs only learn a handful of words rather than a big vocabulary, according to a 2020 study by the Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary. Neal added about her adored pet: "He's truly one of the best things in my life. He is a lover boy in every way!" Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? Kerry council ‘clinking wine glasses with a genocide supporter' say Palestinian group
The Democratic Congressman representing the 1st District of Massachusetts in the US House of Representatives was honoured for his contribution to the peace process in Northern Ireland and his 'enduring and unique relationship' with Kerry where Neal has family links. Sinn Féin Councillor Deirdre Ferris handed a letter of protest to Congressman Neal prior to the Sunday's reception when voicing opposition to equating the Irish peace process with Neal's ongoing support for Israel's military actions in Gaza. A crowd of over 60 protesters gathered outside Muckross House for the duration of the civic reception as members of Kerry Friends of Palestine waved Palestinian flags and held signs saying, 'US bombs murder babies in Gaza'. 'We're appalled and it's incredibly disappointing that the council thought this was an appropriate time to bestow the highest honour on a man who is an active voter in the laws that are impacting Palestinians,' said a member of Kerry Friends of Palestine, who does not wish to be named. Congressman Neal is a staunch supporter of Israel and receives electoral campaign funding from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). This secures Neal's support in Washington DC for Israel's military defence including its current campaign in Gaza. In 2017, Congressman Neal was one of 237 House members to support a divisive bill known as the 'Israeli Anti-Boycott Act' designed to levy severe penalties and imprisonment on US citizens who support boycotting Israel. Neal is firmly opposed to international efforts to 'isolate, boycott and delegitimises' Israel on the international stage. The congressman's Kerry visit is seen as hypocritical by many here as it comes at a time when the Irish government is still dithering over passing the Occupied Territories Bill. Neal is on record as saying peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through direct negotiations between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Following the October 7 attacks by Hamas in 2023 that killed over a thousand innocent Israelis, Congressman Neal called the attacks 'horrific' and said Israel has the right to defend itself with the United States standing firmly with its ally. 'He is part of a group who support Israeli influence within Congress. Can Kerry County Council not deal in ethical trade and communications? Of course tourism is needed massively. But Neal's ties to Kerry and his role in the peace process doesn't mean that we look away from what he is actively guilty of now,' she said. ADVERTISEMENT Kerry Friends of Palestine also criticised Cathaoirleach Breandán Fitzgerald for saying Congressman Neal was a peace advocate for the Middle East. It said Neal has consistently refused to sign legislation calling for a ceasefire in the current war. 'Neal's name was left off of all of those ballots. It's not like we need to question what we're seeing. This is reality TV, it's livestreamed and you cannot avoid it. Every single second of this is documented and shared throughout the world,' she said. "To host a man and be clinking wine glasses with an Israeli genocide supporter while this man is okaying the obliteration of children, men and women with no access to water and food. It's a disgrace to every single thing we should be proud of as a country,' she added. Cathaoirleach Breandán Fitzgerald could not be contacted for a comment. Kerry County Council has also been asked for a response.

'Turning a blind eye to genocide': Pro-Palestine group protests US congressman's Killarney visit
Mairead Maguire reports from Killarney A GROUP OF around 50 pro-Palestinian protesters held a demonstration at Muckross House in Killarney this afternoon, condemning the county council's hosting of US congressman Richard Neal. Neal was among the members of the US House of Representatives who voted in favour of financially supporting Israel's siege of Gaza. He also supported a controversial antisemitism awareness bill, which critics say only serves to silence pro-Palestinian protesters on college campuses. Today's protest was primarily organised by the Kerry branch of the Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign group, with many attendees being natives of the county. There were six gardaí visibly present at the protest. Demonstrators were some distance from the walls of Muckross House, as they congregated in the sunken garden to the west of it. However, their chants could be heard from nearly a kilometre away. These included: 'Richard Neal, you can't hide. You're supporting genocide.' A sign at the protest Saoirse, an intensive care nurse, said she was there to condemn the targeting of healthcare workers in Gaza, more than 1400 of whom have been killed by Israel's army since October 2023. She said it isn't appropriate for Kerry County Council to welcome Neal. 'Of course, we'll have céad míle fáilte … we're the best at doing that. But we can't sit silent while Kerry County Council hosts Richard Neal today. 'You can't fathom the crimes that are happening … targeting journalists, nurses, doctors. You can't deny it.' A conservative estimate of the death toll so far is above 53,000 people. Advertisement One protester held baby shoes covered in fake blood Saoirse said Ireland is also complicit in the genocide, as it continues to to trade with Israel. She called on the government to pass the long-awaited Occupied Territories Bill, which has been 'sitting on a shelf' since the general election in November. The Bill in its original form would have banned all trade with illegally occupied territories, including illegal Israeli settlements in Palestine. The revised bill is expected to cover goods but not services. Neal, the 76-year-old who represents a rural area of Massachusetts, played an key role in facilitating talks that led to the Good Friday Agreement. For this reason, one protester says his continued support of Israel amounts to 'hypocrisy'. Maria McCarthy, a retailer in Tralee who helped organise today's demonstration, said: 'Obviously the peace process is really important to Northern Ireland, which is still under occupation. 'We're put in a really horrible position by having him here, having him hosted, and having people stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel because of his position.' Neal has a connection to the county. His family on his mother's side came from Ventry, near Dingle. He is among a host of high-profile politicians and businesspeople in town for the Global Economic Summit, which is taking place from Monday 26 May to Wednesday 28 May at the five-star Europe Hotel and Resort just outside Killarney town. Attendees include Taoiseach Micheál Martin, European Commissioner Michael McGrath, and former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, as well as Irish presenters such as Miriam O'Callaghan and Ivan Yates. This year's conference will have panel discussions on issues such as trade, artificial intelligence and renewable energy. There is no mention in the programme of the crisis in Gaza. Muckross House is a Victorian-era country home on Muckross Lake within Killarney National Park. The house is now owned by the State and open to the public during the day. Neal was to be hosted at an event in the house itself, before a dinner with councillors in one of the old farm cottages on the property.
