Mass. man drunken drove, sped at over 100 mph prior to crash at N.H. toll plaza, police say

A Massachusetts driver is facing charges after he sped at over 100 mph, drunken drove and ultimately crashed at the Hooksett Toll Plaza in New Hampshire early Thursday morning, according to New Hampshire State Police. Rockland resident Tyler Murphy has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and resisting arrest in connection with the incident, State Police said in a press release Thursday. On July 17 around 6:20 a.m., New Hampshire State Police responded to a report that a white, four-door sedan with Massachusetts plates was driving erratically on I-93 north in Londonderry, State Police said. The car was seen changing lanes aggressively, passing cars in the breakdown lane and speeding at over 100 mph. About an hour later, State Police received additional reports of a car matching the description of the sedan exhibiting similar dangerous driving behaviors while traveling south on I-93 in Northfield, State Police said. Troopers again responded to the area to try to find the car. At 7:44 a.m., a single-vehicle crash was reported on I-93 south in Hooksett, State Police said. Troopers responded and found that a white Audi S4 had crashed into the center barrier between the open road toll lanes and the cash toll booths at the toll plaza. Troopers also learned the Audi caught fire following the crash, but that the driver — who was later identified as Murphy — was able to get out on his own, State Police said. Several drivers who passed the scene stopped to offer medical aid and helped extinguish the fire. Troopers soon noticed that Murphy was displaying signs of alcohol impairment, State Police said. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later arrested. Murphy is scheduled to appear in Hooksett District Court on Aug. 7, State Police said. Mystery woman found dead in New Hampshire finally identified after more than 50 years

Woman found dead in New Hampshire identified after more than 50 years Woman found dead in New Hampshire identified after more than 50 years Woman found dead in New Hampshire identified after more than 50 years A woman found dead more than 50 years ago in the woods of Marlborough, New Hampshire, has finally been identified. Now investigators want to know exactly what happened to Nancy Gale Erickson. The previously unidentified body was discovered in a wooded area off Route 124 on April 16, 1974. Detectives believed the mystery woman had died in the late fall of 1973. New Hampshire authorities said Wednesday that forensic testing helped them to identify the young woman as Erickson. "After years of work on this case, putting a name to Nancy Gale Erickson is incredibly meaningful. It's more than solving a mystery — it's restoring her identity and honoring the life she lived. She was never forgotten," New Hampshire State Police Detective Sgt. Kelly LaPointe said in a statement. "We're deeply grateful to everyone whose efforts made this possible. Now the focus turns to understanding how and why she died." Erickson was 21 years old when she disappeared. Attorney General John Formella's office said she was born and raised in New York but moved to Tampa, Florida, to be with her mother and siblings. She was working as a nurse at a hospital there but suddenly left the state in 1973 with only a duffel bag, and her siblings said that her disappearance may have been due to "the emotional toll of her nursing work." Investigators say Erickson was then arrested in Bellows Fall, Vermont, for stealing a car. On Oct. 30, 1973, she abruptly left her job at the Brattleboro Retreat and was never heard from again. Authorities are now asking anyone who might have known Erickson to contact them. They are looking to speak with former employees of the Brattleboro Retreat, people who lived at the Community House in 1973, students who attended Corning Community College in New York between 1971 and 1972, and staff members at Tampa General Hospital. Anyone with information can call the New Hampshire cold case unit tip line at (800) 525-5555 or submit a tip via this link.

Enter Email Sign Up According to radio transmissions of New Hampshire State Police recorded by Broadcastify, the suspect, later identified as Ruiz, sped away from Ocean Boulevard in a black Mustang with the rear window shot out. State and local police quickly spotted the Mustang, triggering a pursuit that covered an estimated 30 miles westbound on Route 101 and then off the highway where police successfully deployed stop sticks to deflate the right front tire in Deerfield, according to the radio transmissions. At that point, police took a juvenile passenger into custody while the Ruiz ran into nearby woods, according to the transmissions. Advertisement State and local police launched an intensive search of the area, ordered a shelter-in-place alert with a two-mile radius, and deployed a police dog, three drones and the Massachusetts State Police helicopter. But the key sighting came from an area resident who spotted him in the woods, according to transmissions. He was taken into custody around 10:30 p.m., about two hours after the gunfire was first reported in Hampton Beach, records show. Hampton Police Chief Alex Reno said there will be an increased presence of officers in the Hampton beach area to ensure safety. 'Despite the actions of a few individuals who have chosen to disrupt the peace and security of the community, Hampton remains a safe location thanks to the strong public safety presence and community support,' Reno said in the statement. Hampton Beach shooting injures 3; suspect arrested after police pursuit in New Hampshire

A shooting at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire injured three people Tuesday evening. Police said 18-year-old suspect Divaris Ruiz was arrested after a car chase later that night that ended in Deerfield. The shooting happened at about 8:30 p.m. in the area of Ocean Boulevard and Church Street, prompting all officers and New Hampshire State Police troopers in the area to respond to the popular summer destination, police said. Authorities asked people to stay away from the scene while they investigated. Witnesses told police that they saw a "rowdy" group near the north bath houses, then someone fired multiple shots from a black sports car while it was moving. The injuries to the three victims were not considered life-threatening, police said. Three cars in the area were also hit by bullets. Police responded to shots fired at Hampton Beach Tuesday night. Wendy Bamford Police pursuit ends in Deerfield Just before 10:30 p.m., investigators said State Police along with officers from Brentwood and Epping pursued the suspect vehicle in a chase that ended in Deerfield. The driver of the Ford Mustang, later identified as Ruiz, tried to run but was soon found and taken into custody, police said. A 9mm semi-automatic Glock style gun was found in the car, according to police. The car also had a broken rear window that had damage consistent with a gunshot, police said. Ruiz had a juvenile passenger in the car, police said. That boy's mother came to get her son at the police station, and told officers that Ruiz had picked him up so they could go to Hampton Beach, police said. Ruiz, who lives in Manchester, is charged with multiple counts of first degree assault with a firearm and reckless conduct. He is set to appear in Hampton District Court on Wednesday.
