Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Kansas City Chiefs were trounced by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Following the dominant loss, many believed it could be the end of the team's dominating era. More news: Cowboys' Brian Schottenheimer Makes Head-Scratching Claim on Dak Prescott One of the biggest reasons the Chiefs dynasty was questioned was due to star tight end Travis Kelce hinting at retiring following the conclusion of the 2024 season. Despite reports indicating that Kelce would hang up his cleats, he announced that he would return for at least one more season. Now, a new update and hint at his future comes by way of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes was speaking to reporters when he was asked about Kelce staying in the NFL. His answer hinted at the tight end continuing, even past the 2025 season. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on TE Travis Kelce: "If it's the last ride, you'd never know. . . the way he's working. . . it doesn't seem like a guy who is tired of the job." — Charles Goldman (@goldmctNFL) May 29, 2025 Chiefs beat reporter Charles Goldman posted a response from Mahomes on Kelce's future via X, which states: "Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on TE Travis Kelce: 'If it's the last ride, you'd never know. . . the way he's working. . . it doesn't seem like a guy who is tired of the job.'" Though Mahomes did not outright state that Kelce would play past this season, this is a clear indication that the pair might be playing with one another beyond the 2025 season. Photo byMore news: Patrick Mahomes Could Make Big Change to Chiefs Contract Kelce indicated on his popular "New Heights Podcast" back in March that he was not over losing in the Super Bowl, and he was also not "prepared" to give up playing football. "The biggest thing is I love playing the game of football. I still feel like I can play it at a high level, and possibly at a higher level than I did last year," Kelce said on his podcast, "New Heights," on Wednesday. "I love so many people in Kansas City – both in the facility and the community. It's home for me now, and I don't want to leave that life yet." The Chiefs have appeared in five Super Bowls since Mahomes took over as starter. They have also won three of those five Super Bowls. Considering the Chiefs have mostly retained their team and extended head coach Andy Reid, it is believed that everyone is buying into the idea they can remain dominant like the New England Patriots were under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Kelce and Mahomes have been a huge reason the Chiefs have been so successful, and they continue to be dominant at their respective positions. Though it was already revealed that Kelce is returning for 2025, it sounds like he is ready to suit up beyond that as well. Jason Kelce Reveals Alarming Injury Struggles as Travis Kelce Teases Brother's Comeback
Jason Kelce may be enjoying retirement, but his body clearly didn't get the memo. The former Eagles center, now 37, opened up about his growing list of physical issues during a recent episode of the "New Heights Podcast" with brother Travis Kelce—and the update was far from encouraging. Once a 295-pound powerhouse on the field, Kelce revealed that he's slimmed down to around 270 pounds. But beyond the weight loss, it's the pain that's been piling up. Advertisement When Travis jokingly suggested Jason could make a comeback as a tight end, his response was immediate: 'Can't. No. My ankles and knees and back won't let me. – It's getting bad.' Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce kisses his brother Jason Kelce after a game at Arrowhead Biggerstaff-Imagn Images Kelce admits even light workouts are now a challenge 'I'm trying to lift weights, straining muscles. My ankle, playing golf last week, is inflamed. I can't squat now because my ankle hurts. I can't bench because I sprained my pecs,' he said. For a player who only missed significant time twice in his entire NFL career, the breakdown feels sudden—and real. Despite the physical toll, Kelce isn't slowing down professionally. In addition to co-hosting "New Heights", he recently joined ESPN's "Monday Night Countdown" alongside Marcus Spears and Ryan Clark. He also launched his own talk show earlier this year, "They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce." Advertisement He might be sidelined from football physically, but Jason Kelce's post-retirement chapter is just getting started. The Eagles legend has already catapulted his career to new levels. Even if the body won't cooperate, the personality clearly hasn't lost a step. Kelce Body-Shame Photo Going Viral
Over the last few years, Travis Kelce has drifted further and further into celebrity status outside of his Hall-of-Fame football career as tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs. Whether Taylor Swift or his top-of-the-charts podcast has something to do with that, you can be the judge. Advertisement But what comes with being a pop culture icon? Getting roasted online for every casual outfit the paparazzi catches you in. Kelce has fallen victim, and NFL fans are now questioning if he has gained weight. A photo is going viral online of Travis wearing a white oversized sweater ... that gives off an unflattering shadow. Popular troll account "Dov Kleiman" claims the shadow around Kelce's stomach is a clear indication of "serious" weight gain during this offseason. Some rumors like this stem from Kelce reportedly questioning retirement during Kansas City's run to the Super Bowl last postseason. Even after the Chief's ugly loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce confirmed he will continue playing. Advertisement "I think the biggest thing is that I love playing the game of football," Kelce said earlier this offseason. "I love playing. I still feel like I can play it at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year." With what he said after the loss, we take it that he is motivated for the 2025 season and will do everything it takes to be prepared for training camp. Plus, the veteran tight end has plenty of time before then to lose the "extra pounds" he may have added on over the spring. And let's not forget, Patrick Mahomes fell victim to criticism about his "dad bod" just a few years ago too ... and he's turned out just fine during the regular season since. Advertisement The 2025 season will mark Kelce's 13th in the league - what most T-Swift fans would say is a sign of good luck to come. He'll be looking to bounce back, as Kelce (playing at 6-5, 250 pounds) had the lowest receiving numbers of his career last year with 823 yards and just three touchdowns. Jason Kelce addresses possible Taylor Swift appearance on New Heights as he opens up on her joining their family
Jason Kelce has lifted the lid on a potential Taylor Swift appearance on the New Heights podcast, after being quizzed by reporters at an event in New York City. Kelce hosts the popular show alongside his brother Travis, who happens to be dating the most famous popstar in the world. Her fans - and listeners to the podcast - have consistently requested an episode with Swift as a special guest, and Jason was finally asked the question on Monday night. Speaking at an Amazon event on the Upper West Side of NYC, Jason was asked who he'd like to have most on the podcast. 'Anybody we get a chance to talk to, I'm super excited about,' he replied. 'It's a unique world where Trav and I get to talk to childhood heroes and people that we looked up to in the entertainment world, or in the sports world; some of the guys and women that are at the top of their game currently. 'I think that's one of the things that people really like about the show, is the family aspect of it; the brotherhood,' he added. 'I think a lot of that people can relate to, so. But, yeah, always exciting to get Mom on.' Taylor Swift made time to meet Jason and Kylie Kelce's new baby girl, Finnley. 🥹 — Entertainment Tonight (@etnow) May 13, 2025 In response, the interviewer noted: 'We'd love to have Taylor Swift on as well...' Kelce then stayed coy with his response, replying: 'You and a lot of other people... for sure.' Talk then turned to the newest member of the Kelce family, after Jason and Kylie recently welcomed their fourth child - and a fourth girl - in Finnley. The dad-of-four was asked whether Swift had met the newborn, and he confirmed: 'She has, yeah. She's met her. We were fortunate to have them all in. 'It doesn't happen often, everybody's busy, but it was really special. Thankfully we have a really tight-knit family that makes time for each other. It's been awesome.' Kelce and Swift arrived hand-in-hand for a Mother's Day lunch in Philadelphia on Sunday Taylor was all smiles as the high-profile pair broke cover for the first time in two months Jason, Travis, Taylor and Kylie all attended a special Mother's Day lunch, reportedly alongside both Donna Kelce and Andrea Swift, in Philadelphia on Sunday. It was the first time that Travis and Taylor have been publicly spotted together for two months, with the pair lying low during the NFL offseason. While Travis and Taylor have not been seen much publicly, sources have revealed that they have been making the most of their time together, regularly traveling - and deliberately avoiding the spotlight in the process. An insider told People: 'They have been traveling nonstop and very much enjoying it. They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends too. It's a special time for them!' Sunday's sighting was the first time the high-profile couple have been seen out in months Sunday's lunch reportedly took place at Talula's Garden in Philadelphia, which was recently described as 'the toughest table in America'. Per the restaurant's website, they host nightly 12-person tastings, courtesy of award-winning restauranteur Aimee Olexy. Despite its exclusivity, the food is well-priced, with Sunday's brunch menu featuring a southern style shrimp and grits for $25, southern peach pancakes for $22, and buttermilk fried chicken and waffle for $24. Eagle-eyed Swifties were also sent into meltdown by the dessert menu, titled 'Sweet Nothings' - very similar to a 2022 song by Taylor Swift herself. Intriguingly, every dessert on the menu is $13 - Swift's favorite number.

Jason Kelce Shows Off Weight-Loss While Playing Golf
Former NFL player Jason Kelce showed off his recent weight loss while playing some rounds of golf. E! News reported that the former Philadelphia Eagles lineman gave fans a glimpse of his physique during the 2025 Truist Championship pro-am golf tournament. While at the May 7 event, Kelce took off his shirt, showcasing his 25-pound weight loss. In an Instagram video filmed at the event, uploaded on the PGA Tour's Instagram account, Kelce confirmed that he's down to 270 pounds from 295 pounds since his 2024 NFL retirement. According to E! News, Kelce has been open about his fitness journey on his and his brother, Travis Kelce's podcast, the New Heights Podcast. In a March 2025 episode of the podcast, Kelce said he's competing with former Eagles player Beau Allen to see who can lose the most body fat while still gaining muscle in three months. When his brother asked why he's doing the fitness competition, he replied, "When you retire [from the NFL], you have to do stupid competitions for your sanity." Kelce discussed his fitness journey during a February 2025 interview with Men's Health. He said he would like "to get down to 262, 250 [pounds] here in the next few months." In addition, he said he is aware of his calorie intake and enjoys lifting weights. "I love lifting heavy weights, so I still do that. I still squat heavy, I still bench heavy, and actually kind of tweaked my back early in my retirement deadlifting too much," said Kelce to the publication. "But I don't know-it's hard to stop lifting a certain way, and I know that I need to get more joint-friendly. I haven't made that jump quite yet. Joint health in general, I'm on borrowed time on all my joints and that's just the way it is for anyone who plays that long in the NFL." Kelce welcomed his fourth child, Finn, with his wife, Kylie Kelce, in March 2025. Kylie introduced the newest member of their family in an April 2025 Instagram upload. The image showed Finn wrapped up in a blanket with a bow on her head. "Whoop, there she is! Finnley "Finn" Anne Kelce 3/30/25," read the caption of the post.
