New York Giants' Brian Burns praises Tomon Fox, calls him underrated
When the New York Giants decided to bring back outside linebacker Tomon Fox this offseason on a one-year, exclusive rights free agent deal, it wasn't seen as major news. But Giants fans know that Fox, who has been with the team since being signed as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina in 2022, is a key part of the club's defensive depth and a key special-teams performer. Fox played in 11 games last year and is not likely to see much of the field on defense this year with the addition of prized rookie Abdul Carter, but that shouldn't diminish Fox in anyone's eyes. He is still highly thought of by coaches and teammates alike. Veteran linebacker Brian Burns recently called out Fox by name, calling him underrated during an interview with the Giants Huddle Podcast. "This year, I'm planning on having waves and waves of rushers," Burns told host John Schmeelk. "Not only is it me and K.T. (Kayvon Thibodeaux), but now we have Abdul (Carter), Chauncey (Golston), we have a guy that goes under the radar a lot. His name is Tomon Fox. These are really guys that can get at the quarterback. I'm really excited." Fox has always been a favorite of the coaches as he is always ready to step in where needed. When he does step in, Fox usually makes his presence known. When the Giants initially signed Fox back in 2022, he drew praise from another Tar Heel legend who played a little linebacker here with the Giants: Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor. "I know he's hardcore, and not being drafted will make him work harder. He is a solid player from what I've seen," Taylor said at the time. Fox has not disappointed since. He's been stuck in a numbers game, but that won't deter him. The Giants know they will be getting an A-level effort when they need one from him.

Carmelo Anthony believes Russell Wilson could reestablish himself with Giants
The New York Giants, looking to add both talent and experience to their broken quarterback room this offseason, rolled the dice on two veterans, Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and then made a splash on the first night of the draft by trading up for Jaxson Dart. The maneuvers might just pay off. Wilson, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and former Super Bowl champion, was inked to a one-year, incentive-laden deal that could pay him up to $21 million this year. It's being seen by many as a stopgap measure by Big Blue while they get Dart ramped up to take over. The 36-year-old Wilson doesn't see it that way. He believes this could be the beginning of a new and prosperous stage of his career. He's not looking to do a hit-and-run in New York, a place where he and his pop star wife, Ciara, have wanted to be for some time. "Honestly, I feel like I'm 25 years old all over again," Wilson told Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated. "And I think part of that is just physically I feel great. Mentally, I feel amazing in terms of, it's possible. You know what I mean? And I think ultimately, a big part of it is the people you're around, the players, the coaching staff, the mentality of the guys. And then being in the city. The energy of it is for people that like to be fast-paced, which is me." Retired New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony also believes The Big Apple could help reestablish Wilson. "Me and Carmelo were talking about this," Wilson said. "He's like, 'Man, this is the perfect place for you to reestablish and have everybody realize who Russell Wilson really is, by not just how you play on the field, but what you do, the community, and different things that you're able to impact.' 'And people, it doesn't get any bigger than New York City.". Wilson has already made his presence known at the Giants' facility, with his new teammates and around the New York Metropolitan Area. He has the look of a man who intends to stay. If he performs well, he just might force the Giants' hand.

Ex-New York Giants safety thinks Odell Beckham Jr. could mentor Malik Nabers
The New York Giants are at a tipping point in 2025. If they don't perform well this year, there's relative certainty that Brian Daboll will lose his job. Joe Schoen is on the hot seat, too, but Daboll will be the one to go first. It would be everyone's preference, including the Giants', that the scenario doesn't play out. Consistency and continuity are the best recipe for long-term success. Daboll has a new roster to work with in 2025, and with training camp just one week away, the Giants want to ensure he has the best roster possible. Two former Giants who have expressed interest in returning are wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and edge rusher Jason Pierre-Paul. Recently, Antrel Rolle spoke with Gambling Industry News, and he was asked if it made sense for either of those players to return. "I'd love to see it, but that's me being biased because those are my boys. I'd love to see them go out on their own terms at MetLife Stadium. Obviously, we know Odell's had a lot of injuries, but I still think Odell has a lot left in the tank," Rolle said. "I just don't feel like he's been used properly. The last time we saw that was when he was with L.A. "We have yet to see him used like that since then. If he's healthy, I'd still say OBJ, with his route-running and the way he can separate in and out of breaks, he can be a top-15 receiver in the game today. If he's targeted correctly." A "And JPP is just an absolute freak. I would love to see both my guys go out on their own terms in MetLife Stadium. That would be dope," he said. JPP, as a standout edge rusher, got his start in New York and played eight seasons in blue. His last true season was with the Baltimore Ravens in 2022, although he appeared on two additional practice squads in 2023. As for OBJ, well, Giants fans don't forget, and with a new regime in the office, a return, although unlikely, isn't entirely out of the question. Rolle believes he could be a good mentor for Malik Nabers. "Oh, absolutely, it would be helpful. One of my mentors, Deon Grant, taught me so much on and off the field. You can't put a price on those things," Rolle said. "He was such a pivotal part for us in that (2012) Super Bowl run, and a lot of times it was behind closed doors. The only people that knew were the players. No coaches, no media, none of that. Those things are such hidden gifts." Nabers is entering his second season with the Giants, and his rookie campaign had him in the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation before Jayden Daniels ran away with it. He and OBJ share an alma mater, and with Beckham's experience through all of the drama he perpetuated, he can certainly pass on some knowledge.
