MCSO: Stolen vehicle recovered, repeat offenders arrested after chase

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Monroe County Sherriff's have arrested two and recovered a stolen vehicle following a chase that started in the Town of Penfield Monday night. According to MCSO, deputies noticed two people getting into a suspicious vehicle at the Marathon gas station on Penfield Road. MCSO said the vehicle had a broken back window and was reported stolen out of Ontario County. MCSO said the driver refused to stop for deputies resulting in a chase that eventually ended on Commonwealth Road in Brighton as the car broke down. According to MCSO, the driver attempted to restart the vehicle with his passenger inside as deputies told them to exit. The two were eventually persuaded to exit and arrested. Dejon Butler, 26, from Waterloo, and John Pisano, 38, from Rochester, were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (3rd) and Obstruction of Governmental Administration (2nd). MCSO noted that Pisano has nine outstanding warrants for his arrest from law enforcement agencies including the New York State Police in Lyons, Auburn, and Waterloo, the Seneca Falls Police Department and the Brighton Police Department. He was transported to Monroe County Jail to await arraignment. Butler was issued several traffic citations and transported to Monroe County Jail. Oneonta man accused of shooting train on Norfolk Southern Railway

TOWN OF ONEONTA, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An Oneonta man is facing felony charges after allegedly opening fire on the Norfolk Southern Railway on Wednesday. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 33-year-old James Fulginiti following a shots fired complaint in the Town of Oneonta. On Wednesday, at approximately 5:08 p.m., Deputies were dispatched to the area of the railway just off of State Highway 7 and Corporate Drive. Otsego County 911 Dispatchers received reports of a male walking down the railway and allegedly shooting a firearm at a train. Responding officers located the suspect, later identified as Fulginiti, and took him into custody. During an investigation, it was determined that Fulginiti had allegedly fired a BB gun at the train conductor compartment and struck the windshield. The train conductor was not injured during the incident. However, the train windshield was damaged. Fulginiti was taken to the Otsego County Sheriff's Office for processing and was charged with the following: Unlawful Interference with Railroad/Train Unlawful Propulsion of a Missile at Railroad Trains Criminal Mischief Third Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon Third Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon Fourth Degree Menacing in the Second Degree Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree Fulginiti was turned over to the Otsego County Corrections to be held for Centralized Arraignment. The Otsego County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police and Norfolk Southern Railway Police. Syracuse teen charged for attempted armed robbery in Clay

CLAY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office was called to the Heritage Park Townhouses off Wetzel Road after receiving a call for an attempted armed robbery on Sunday, June 1. Sheriff deputies said that when they arrived, they spoke to the victim, who reported that the suspect had attempted to rob him of his phone and vehicle at gunpoint. Police say that the suspect ran away after failing to steal the victim's property. Through a description of the suspect provided by the victim, the Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police were able to find the suspect, who has been identified as 18-year-old Gabron Polk of Syracuse, in the woods behind Wetzel Road Elementary School. Polk was arrested about 30 minutes after the police were originally called. Sheriff's Deputies reported finding a 9mm 'ghost gun' in Polk's possession at the time of his arrest. Polk was charged with the following offenses: Attempted Robbery in the First Degree (Class B Felony) – Forcible theft with a deadly weapon. Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C Felony) – Possession of a loaded firearm. Criminal Use of a Firearm in the Second Degree (Class C Felony) – Display of a weapon during a felony. Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony). NEW YORK (WWTI) – The public is being warned by the New York State Police about a persistent phone spoofing scam in which con artists pose as law enforcement or government representatives to obtain private information from individuals. According to State Police, people have reported receiving calls in recent days from numbers that seem to be New York State Police phone lines. The callers, posing as law enforcement, have demanded personal information, including Social Security numbers, and have threatened to take punitive action against those who do not comply. These calls are fake. Legitimate government entities, including the New York State Police, will never call someone and request private information or threaten to arrest them or take legal action. If You Receive a Suspicious Call: Do not provide any personal information. Do not send money or make payments under threat. Hang up immediately—even if the caller ID appears legitimate. Save any voicemails and record the phone number if possible. Verify the call by contacting the agency directly using a trusted number; and The New York State Police urge all residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity involving impersonation of law enforcement or government agencies. Scammers all throughout the country frequently use phone number spoofing to make calls seem like they are from reputable organizations. These scams aim to instill fear and bewilderment in their victims, which frequently results in them complying with requests or disclosing information that could be used to perpetrate additional fraud. Multiple agencies responding to possible person in Genesee River

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — RPD has confirmed an investigation is underway in the area of Andrews Street and Water Street for reports of a person possibly in the Genesee River. The Rochester Police Department has blocked off both streets to traffic as they work. A helicopter and drones were seen by News 8 at the scene. Multiple agencies, including the Rochester Fire Department, Irondequoit Police Department, and New York State Police, are assisting with the investigation.
