Here's why Jacinta 'MaNgobese' Zuma is no longer on Vuma FM

Vuma FM has set the record straight on Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma's departure from the station. After weeks of speculation surrounding her departure, with some claiming she was 'dismissed' due to her links with the March in March movement in Durban, where protesters were demanding illegal immigrants leave the country, Vuma FM said her contract with the station had ended. 'The recent decision made by Vuma FM not to renew Ngobese-Zuma's contract as presenter at Vuma FM is not a dismissal but a natural conclusion of an independent contractor's term,' it said. 'All our presenter contracts are subject to annual renewal at the station's discretion, a standard practice in our industry. Vuma FM made the line-up changes based on internal, annual evaluation and not influenced by any external party. 'We would like to thank Ngobese-Zuma for her contribution to the station and wish her well in the future.'

Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma ‘stunned' after being named in urgent court bid by KZN health MEC

Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma says she's shocked to be named in an urgent court case by KZN Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Mngadi and awaits ruling. Image: DOCTOR NGCOBO/Independent Newspapers KwaZulu-Natal media personality and activist Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma says she was stunned to learn she's been named in an urgent court application brought by KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Mngadi. This comes after months of friction between the Simelane and Ngobese-Zuma, who earlier this year founded March and March, an NGO that drew headlines and criticism for stationing volunteers at KwaZulu-Natal hospitals and asking patients for ID to check their legal status. Simelane-Mngadi slammed the initiative, calling it 'unlawful acts of vigilantism,' and warning that 'no member of the public or structure has the legal or moral authority to block others from accessing healthcare.'' Shortly after the controversy, Ngobese-Zuma's contract at Vuma FM was abruptly terminated, sparking allegations that Simelane-Mngadi had pressured the station by threatening to withdraw health department advertising. The MEC's office denied any involvement, calling the claims 'entirely false and without merit,' but opposition parties and activists continued to push for investigations into her conduct. In a Facebook post on Saturday, July 26, 2025, Ngobese-Zuma revealed that she had received court papers from lawyers said to be representing the MEC. 'Yesterday at 14:24, I received an inbox from lawyers said to be representing MEC Nomagugu Simelane Mngadi. I later found out that the matter was filed as an urgent application in court around 3 pm,' she wrote. 'My lawyers sent a letter responding, and now we wait for the ruling. I'm not sure why my name is in it, though. But I will wait as I had said.' Screenshots attached to her post showed filings from the Pietermaritzburg High Court, listing Ngobese-Zuma as a respondent alongside political journalist Sihle Mavuso, who also posted his response online, saying the urgency was exaggerated. 'Well, late yesterday, around 2 pm, uNomagugu and her so-called 'lawyers' filed their court papers and wanted the Pietermaritzburg High Court to hear the matter at 3 pm on the same day,' Mavuso wrote. 'I quickly filed my responding papers and told the court the urgency is self-created and it should penalise her for abusing it.' Video Player is loading. Next Stay Close ✕ Ngobese-Zuma, who has long been outspoken on migrant access to health care, expressed her frustration in isiZulu: 'Kazi mina ngingenaphi ngoba sengithola amaphepha in my Facebook inbox.. ey ngiyahlokolozwa yezwa!!' (Translated: 'Why am I being dragged into this? Now I'm receiving legal papers in my inbox… I'm being harassed!') This week, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal issued a media statement defending Simelane-Mngadi and denying any role in the decision by Vuma FM not to renew Ngobese-Zuma's contract. The party urged the public not to engage in 'political lynching' of its leaders and insisted there was no political interference in the matter. Ngobese-Zuma rejected the ANC's version, describing its statement as 'riddled with misleading claims' and damaging to her reputation. 'The statement is not only unfortunate, it is riddled with misleading statements that have the effect of eroding my good name, particularly when the catchphrase has no nexus with the contents of the statement,' she said. In response, she has taken legal steps against the ANC, accusing it of spreading misinformation that eroded her good name. 'The seriousness of the statement has warranted that I instruct my legal team to take appropriate legal action before the close of business tomorrow, in a quest to vindicate my rights,' she said in a statement on Wednesday evening. IOL previously reported that Simelane-Mngadi vowed to take legal action over what she described as 'false and malicious' claims. Both Ngobese Zuma and Mavuso confirmed they have filed responses and are waiting for the Pietermaritzburg High Court to rule. Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma threatens legal action against ANC over misleading statement

Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma is taking legal action against ANC KZN, accusing the party of issuing a misleading statement that unfairly links her Vuma FM exit to political interference. Image: DOCTOR NGCOBO/Independent Newspapers A prominent South African socialite and radio personality Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma has instructed her legal team to take swift action against the African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) unless the party retracts a statement concerning her recent departure from Vuma FM. Ngobese-Zuma's frustrations mounted following the ANC's media release, which she vehemently described as "misleading"; stating it jeopardised her reputation and had the potential to damage her public image. What also irked Ngobese-Zuma about the statement was the ANC asserting that she asked for the party's leaders to be "lynched". "The statement is not only unfortunate; it is riddled with misleading statements that erode my good name, particularly when the catchphrase has no nexus to the contents of the statement," said Ngobese-Zuma in her media statement The ANC's initial remarks were delivered in a statement titled "ANC KZN welcomes Vuma FM pronouncement on Ngobese-Zuma's contract and cautions against public lynching of its leaders." When reached for comment, ANC KZN spokesperson Fanle Sibisi indicated that the matter was now in the hands of their attorneys and refused to comment further, stating, "We can't say much now; we are going to apply our minds and we will make pronouncements in due course." Amid the unfolding legal drama, Ngobese-Zuma was also gearing for a full-blown demonstration on August 1 in Durban's CBD, as part of her March on March movement's mobilisation against illegal immigrants. The demonstration seeks to raise awareness regarding the growing influx of immigrants into South Africa, with some calling for the mass deportation of illegal immigrants. According to Xolani Zuma, the organiser of the march, the demonstration aims to prioritise the needs of South African citizens, while calling for the arrest and prosecution of corrupt officials who were allegedly allowing undocumented immigrants to infiltrate the country. "The government has very limited resources to provide healthcare for South Africans, and the increase in the number of undocumented immigrants puts more strain on the shallow public purse,' he explained. Zuma also highlighted various challenges brought about by illegal immigration, like rising crime rates attributed to undocumented immigrants, drug cartels, and human trafficking. He expressed concern over the difficulties faced by local law enforcement in identifying offenders amid allegations of officials selling identities to illegal immigrants. The March on March movement, which initially began as a grassroots effort on Facebook, was sparked by Ngobese-Zuma's call for increased awareness about the issues of illegal immigration. The movement's core mission was to urge local municipalities to reclaim hijacked buildings, which they claim contribute to the escalating crime rate in the region. DAILY NEWS

Vuma FM responds to Jacinta Ngobese's dismissal claims

Jancita joined Vuma FM in 2019. Vuma FM has responded to claims by presenter Jacinta Ngobese, who alleged that the station unfairly dismissed her. Ngobese released a statement this week, claiming the station terminated her contract without explanation. She said she was informed that her employment would be terminated, with her final day scheduled for 31 July. 'In 2019, I joined Vuma FM and over the years worked on several time slots, including The Drive and The Cruise. I served the station with dedication, commitment and tenacity, and rejected many offers primarily because Vuma FM was my second home. She added: 'On Tuesday, 15 July, I received a letter from my employer, terminating my employment contract without any reasons given to me. It has come to my attention that a complaint was brought by an external entity and/or individual. I shall not deal with the details of that complaint at this stage.'
