Four days and 267 shots later, Scottie Scheffler completed the third part of his Grand Slam quest as he dominated The Open at Royal Scheffler's brilliance, the scenic views and, of course, Rory McIlroy mania, it was a week to honour of the famous links course, here are 18 of the best photos from a memorable week in Northern Ireland. Before the golfers' attentions turned to the course, signer and golf fanatic Niall Horan joined several players for a chip-in challenge down at Portrush by the reactions here I think he was pretty close. Rory mania was in full flow at Royal Portrush as fans - both young and old - hunted McIlroy down for an autograph or a glimpse of the local hero. It was a 06:30 BST start on Thursday, but the crowds still came out in force to watch Padraig Harrington hit the opening tee shot at the two-time Open champion did not make the cut but his 'scientific' comments about Portrush having the best 99 ice creams on the Open rota were one of the most memorable moments of the week. Golfers, spectators and media all became weather experts throughout the week as the skies dominated Fleetwood was one of those to toil on a wet and wild opening day, but he would recover to seven under for the it would clear up for the final two days. Now, this is Fitzpatrick's approach to lining up a put caught a lot of attention in that, or he's trying to get as close as possible to Scottie Scheffler. We wouldn't blame him. Do you ever feel like someone is watching? Thousands of fans followed Rory McIlroy through his final two rounds from first hole to last. It was an emotional farewell to Royal Portrush from McIlroy's home support as he received a standing ovation as he walked onto the 18th green. It wasn't to be for the Masters champion, but he banished the memories of 2019. In an adorable moment, and not without a couple of tumbles on the way, Scheffler's son, Bennett, made his way onto the green after his dad had been handed the Claret Jug.

‘People believe what they want to believe' – Golf star Shane Lowry's prickly response to question about his drinking
FORMER Open champion Shane Lowry gave a prickly response to a question about his drinking. Lowry, 38, won the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush in 2019 and celebrated in style with selfies of him hitting the nightspots of Dublin. 5 5 The Irishman is back in Portrush for this week's Open Championship, and was immediately reminded of his boozy celebrations six years ago. 'That's an interesting first question, isn't it? We're here to talk about golf and all anybody wants to talk about is drinking,' the Ryder Cup star said. Rewind to 2019 and Lowry gave the world an exhibition on how to celebrate a sporting triumph with a week-long party. He also shared plenty of images on Instagram of his party to toast his victory at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in 2022 when he was joined by pop star and avid golf fan Niall Horan. It's an image that Lowry is keen to downplay these days… although needless to say he would probably do it all again should he triumph this weekend back at his favourite course. Lowry said: Golf's a funny game where you lose more than you win, so when you win you need to enjoy those victories. "I'll let people believe what they want to believe (about my drinking). The people close to me know what I'm like. 'I do enjoy it from time to time but I know when I need to put my head down. The painting of Lowry raising the Claret Jug at Portrush covers the entire side of a house, and is just around the corner from the course. But when he made his first trip back to the scene of his greatest triumph, just before the Irish Open last September, Lowry and his team forgot to make the small detour. He said: 'I'll be completely honest, we were in a rush leaving Portrush, and we totally forgot about going in to see it! 'I swear to God, we were ten miles down the road, and we suddenly realised we didn't get a picture of me standing in front of it, which we'd fully intended to do. 'By then it was too late to turn back, because we were on our way to the Irish Open at County Down. But I've seen it since, and I think it's pretty cool what they did there. 'People keep sending me pictures standing beside it - some of them I can't say what they're doing in it! 5 "I've done something special in my life, and they've acknowledged that, and I think that's pretty cool too.' Lowry is currently 18th in the world rankings and so far this season has finished tied for 42nd at The Masters, and missed the cut at the US Open and the PGA Championship. He admits he has struggled to work out why it all clicked at The Open in 2019 and why he has been unable to repeat the feat since. Lowry said: "I've spent six years trying to work that out. My results were really good going into it. 'I was playing solid golf, then I came to a place I knew and loved. It all clicked. I was playing some of the best golf of my life. 'A few people close to me have said they knew I was ready - I wish they'd told me because I didn't think it. 'I was quite up-tight about it but that's just because you want to play so well. You never really know why. It just happened and I count myself quite lucky.' Lowry said the key could be playing poorly in the practice rounds, so his expectations are lowered and his focussed sharpened. He said: 'Here in 2019, I had a meltdown because I felt like I wasn't going to play well but that focuses me. 'If I get my complacency away and my expectations down, I'm at my best. I played well the last two days so that's not good. "I just need to play s**t for a few days and everything will be alright.'

Niall Horan put on a cosy display with his girlfriend Amelia Woolley as they enjoyed Wimbledon in the AELTC's Parkside Suite over the weekend. The former One Direction star, 31, laughed and cheered as he watched the tennis tournament unfold alongside other high-profile celebs on Sunday. Day 14 of the annual championship also saw the likes of Nicole Kidman and Anna Wintour enjoying the game and a side of chatting from the Royal Box. Niall looked in good spirits beside account manager Amelia, 28, as he looked into the distance. The couple looked stylish as they dressed up for the occasion, with Niall in a white polo shirt and navy blazer and Amelia a vision in white. She wore a milkmaid maxi dress which showed off her supermodel figure and full-glam. The pair have been dating since 2020, although they didn't make their public debut until September 2021. Rumours of their relationship started circulating in 2020, and they confirmed their relationship when they appeared together at his Horan & Rose Gala. In recent months, Niall reportedly splashed the cash on a new luxury 'six bedroom family' home in West London, in a very fancy star-studded neighbourhood. The hitmaker is said to have moved to the mansion, which is close to celebs Holly Willoughby and Ant and Dec, with his shoe designer girlfriend. The Irish singer, who is the most low-key member of One Direction and is usually seen on a gold course or in the music studio, has paid a staggering £10million for his new property. The notoriously private couple, who share a dog together, have already settled in after leaving his London penthouse and have been enjoying a 'quiet life' in the new neighbourhood. A source told The Sun: 'Niall has bought himself a gorgeous house and now lives close to celebs like Holly Willoughby and Ant & Dec. 'He did have a very cool penthouse in London but he wanted to get somewhere a little more grown up. 'Niall's new place is set across a number of floors and has six bedrooms, so it feels like a proper family home. He is really settled with his girlfriend Amelia Woolley. 'They have a dog and are just like any other couple in their 30s - bar the fact he's got a fortune in the bank. 'They've been spotted a few times in the neighbourhood now but people leave Niall alone and let him just get on with his day. It's lovely that someone as well known as Niall can live the quiet life he's always wanted.' Niall teased that he plans to spend the summer working on his fourth record. In a interview with Golf Pass, Niall was asked what he's most excited about for the future. He answered: 'I am literally, this week, just about to sit down and I've been like accumulating some ideas but I'm going to sit down and start writing my next album.'
