'Big loss but understandable' - fans on Trafford exit
We asked for your views on James Trafford leaving for Manchester City this summer and who might be brought in as a are some of your comments:Lee: He was superb for us last season and arguably got us into the automatic spots. But he is unproven in the Premier League and he alone would not keep us up. Great business for us and wish him all the best. Need to reinvest the money wisely to give us the best chance of We will miss you so much - wish you and your family all the best in the future and thanks so much for everything. You have been Big loss but understandable. I want Aaron Ramsdale but he is now being linked with Newcastle so that is maybe unlikely. He is unworthy of his unlucky brand and a fantastic Probably go all out for Nick Trafford has the capabilities to be England's number one - just not right now. Last season flattered him, playing behind a very defensive framework that kept threats away. While his shotstopping is world class, crosses into the box for huge, athletic players are his undoing and Premier League teams all know this. In terms of a replacement, I'm fine with Sam Johnstone or Nick Pope as they are quality and proven operators. We don't need world-class ball It was inevitable but Trafford and Josh Brownhill leaving just as we make it back to the Premier League? Doesn't bode Johnstone or Stefan I know he's getting older but the suggestion that Johnstone might be coming seems the best option at the moment. I've always thought he's a great goalkeeper.

Man Utd could make shock move for Premier League goalkeeper after rivals strike deal
Manchester United are supposedly open to signing a new goalkeeper this summer and could raid a Premier League rival as they close in on an England international Nick Pope could yet be the subject of surprise interest from Manchester United now that Newcastle are in the process of finalising a move for Aaron Ramsdale, it has been claimed. The Magpies have been in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer and were thought to be the red-hot favourites to land the impressive James Trafford from Burnley. However, after weeks of talks, Manchester City gazumped their rivals to re-sign the same keeper they sold for £14million back in the summer of 2023. Newcastle have since turned their sights to a deal for Ramsdale, 27, who is set to move on loan from Southampton following their relegation from the Premier League. And while he is expected to start the season as No 2 behind Pope, talkSPORT claim that the latter could now emerge as a target for United. The 33-year-old England star is about to enter the final year of his contract at St James' Park and has already attracted interest from Leeds this summer. United are understood to be open to signing a new goalkeeper, though much will depend on their other transfer business, and Pope is said to fit the profile they are after. Andre Onana joined the Red Devils in a £47m move from Inter Milan two years ago to replace David de Gea but has struggled to convince in a United shirt. The Cameroon star has made a number of high-profile errors across the last two seasons, sparking speculation United may seek to replace him. United have also been linked with the Paris Saint-Germain No 1, Gianluigi Donnarumma: the France international is entering the final year of his deal in France and has not yet come to terms on an extension with the European champions. Chelsea are also said to be interested in his services, although it remains to be seen if the player would actually consider a move to the Premier League this summer. United have bolstered their attack with the captures of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Wolves and Brentford respectively but are still keen on the idea of signing a No 9 before the new season starts. Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins has emerged as their top target with Benjamin Sesko also of interest. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
