Victoria Beckham and Daughter-in-Law Nicola Peltz's Drama: A Timeline of Their Relationship
Victoria Beckham's relationship with daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz Beckham has been under a microscope ever since the actress married Brooklyn Peltz Beckham in 2022. Brooklyn proposed to Nicola in July 2020, and they got married two years later. Speculation soon swirled around his mother and wife's relationship after news broke that Nicola wore a Valentino gown — instead of one designed by Victoria's eponymous brand. 'I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, [Victoria] realized that her atelier couldn't do it, so then I had to pick another dress,' Nicola told Variety in August 2022, denying rumblings of a feud. 'She didn't say you can't wear it; I didn't say I didn't want to wear it.' Nicola attempted to further shut down rumors of drama when she and Brooklyn attended Victoria's fashion shows in 2023 and 2024. The next year, the Peltz Beckhams were notably absent from his dad David Beckham's 50th birthday party. (David and Victoria were joined by youngest children Romeo, Cruz and Harper, in addition to other friends and relatives.) Everything Victoria Beckham and Nicola Peltz Have Said About Each Other and Their Relationship: My 'Role Model' "Things never really got smoothed over, and you can tell it still affects everyone,' a source exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2025. 'The tension is still present and it's hard for Brooklyn at times. Brooklyn's having a tough time with it. He's super stubborn and just wants space from his family right now.' Keep scrolling for a timeline of Victoria and Nicola's in-law relationship through the years: Victoria was one of the first people to celebrate Brooklyn's engagement. 'The MOST exciting news!! We could not be happier that @brooklynbeckham and @nicolaannepeltz are getting married!' Victoria wrote via Instagram. 'Wishing you so much love and a lifetime of happiness 🙏🏻. We all love you both so much.' In response, Nicola gushed in the comments, 'I love you so so much, Victoria. I'm the luckiest girl.' Months later, Victoria said on the U.K.'s Lorraine that Nicola was a 'wonderful' addition to their family. 'She's sweet, she's kind, she's such a lovely, warm, wonderful, wonderful woman,' Victoria said in December. 'We couldn't have asked for Brooklyn to meet a more adorable, lovely lady. We are very happy. We love her. He's so happy.' Nicola walked down the aisle in a Valentino Haute Couture gown, which raised eyebrows since Victoria is a celebrated designer in her own right. 'They're always going to try and put people down,' Brooklyn told Variety in August, also shutting down the feud rumors. 'But everyone gets along, which is good.' The next month, Victoria teased Brooklyn and Nicola's 'emotional' wedding day. 'The day wasn't about me, it was about Brooklyn and Nicola. So I wanted to look appropriate, and really to be comfortable and to feel like myself,' the former Spice Girl told Grazia. 'It's a big deal, your child getting married. I was very emotional. David's speech was beautiful.' Victoria also praised Nicola's vision in picking out a bridesmaid dress for Harper, which she called 'angelic.' Nicola joined the rest of the family at Victoria's fashion show before telling Grazia in a separate interview that she initially wanted to wear a dress made by her mother-in-law to the wedding. 'I was truly so excited to be able to wear a design that my future mother-in-law created. I thought that was so beautiful and such a beautiful story,' she said. 'I thought, 'Oh, this is going to be so fun. One of my best friends and my mom.' We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn't hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn't make it. So, I spoke to my mom and Leslie [Fremar, my stylist], and I was like, 'Well, unfortunately, this can't happen, so what's the next step?' I've been a fan of Valentino and their couture for so long.' According to Nicola, the feud rumors did 'hurt [her] feelings.' 'I try not to let it, but it's just not the truth,' she said. 'It's just a bit of a bummer when you're like, 'Oh, people think that,' but it's just not true.' Seeing Nicola's pain is what upset Brooklyn the most. 'To be honest, my wife is obviously my first priority and I never want to see her upset ever,' he told the outlet. 'When people do say ridiculous things, we just talk about it and we just move on. We have each other's back 100 percent and we just move on together.' The next year, Nicola stressed to Cosmopolitan that there was 'no feud' between herself and Victoria. 'It's really weird, actually, whether it's my life or someone else's life or whatever, when you know the truth and then you read something totally wrong,' Nicola added. That October, she and Brooklyn joined the family at the Netflix premiere of David's eponymous docuseries. Victoria and Cruz stepped out at the premiere of Nicola's directorial debut, Lola. Brooklyn and Nicola missed David's two birthday parties in April and May. A source later told Us that Brooklyn requested a separate celebratory meet-up, which was turned down. 'David and Victoria are over it,' the insider exclusively told Us. 'They've thrown in the towel over the whole thing. David and Victoria just want to treat everyone the same and approach life like a family and the family does things a certain way, but Brooklyn isn't playing it like that, and everything is a drama.' A second source, meanwhile, told Us that Nicola's lingering drama with Victoria was at the center of the tension. 'Things never really got smoothed over, and you can tell it still affects everyone,' the second source added. 'The tension is still present and it's hard for Brooklyn at times. Brooklyn's having a tough time with it. He's super stubborn and just wants space from his family right now.' Per the second insider, Brooklyn is 'completely' standing by Nicola. 'Brooklyn will always be on Nicola's side, and that's made things even more tense between him and his parents,' the source noted.

Nicola Peltz's pals break silence for first time over Brooklyn Beckham claims
Nicola Peltz's pals address claims that she is "isolating" Brooklyn Beckham in new defence - as sources close to the Beckham family speak of their continued upset as the feud rumbles on Brooklyn Beckham's Instagram video last week in which he said he would 'always choose' his wife must have hurt his parents amid their well-publicised family feud. But other recent social media posts have allegedly proved just, if not more, painful to David and Victoria as the falling out shows no sign of abating. A picture uploaded to Instagram three days ago shows Brooklyn sipping a pint in a pub, with bottles of his own-brand hot sauce on the table in front of him. Innocuous enough to outsiders – but friends of the Beckhams recognised the distinctive light fittings and stark green walls in the background. One pal says: 'The picture was taken in London's Wigmore pub, which is part of the Langham Hotel where the Beckhams have sometimes stayed. 'The fact that Brooklyn appeared to be in the country and failed to see any of his family was heartbreaking. And not only that, but here he was posting about it.' Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, had flown to London for a joint photoshoot with Italian luxury fashion brand Moncler, which took place less than two miles from the Beckham family home in Holland Park. Dad David, 50, was not far away – he was pictured with the King at the Chelsea Flower show that day – just three miles from the Wigmore. A pal reveals: 'Brooklyn had kept the visit quiet from not only his mum and dad but his siblings and extended family. It was terribly sad that he had flown thousands of miles to London and hadn't engaged at all. It would have been very easy to meet up.' Another Instagram post, made on May 16, showed Brooklyn with Nicola's late grandmother to mark the anniversary of her death. He captioned it: 'I miss you and will love you forever.' A friend said: 'Brooklyn's heart is of course in the right place…but it hasn't gone unnoticed how all the while he is posting about Nicola's family he is silent about his own, including his own grandfather whose birthday it was last week.' To acquaintances of the family, the blame for what they believe are 'performative' social media posts lies with heiress Nicola. They list concerns that she is somehow orchestrating her husband's social media activity, which they claim is out of character, and that she is responsible for 'isolating' Brooklyn from his friends and family. A pal says: 'She is creating conflict where there is none and divides are springing up left, right and centre.' But a source close to the couple has hit back at suggestions Nicola is 'controlling' her husband – and insists Brooklyn is very much his own man. They reveal: 'She is not isolating him at all. He is free to do what he wants and he loves his wife and they are happy together. They are each other's family.' Brooklyn captioned last weekend's motorbike video, shot in Beverly Hills: 'My whole world. I will love you forever. I always choose you baby.' The source insists this was 'completely misinterpreted' as being a dig at his own family. The source adds: 'It's a real shame that what Brooklyn did – which was a statement of love for his wife – is being portrayed as something that it's not. 'He loves his wife and everyone should be proud: his parents, his family friends. He stands by his wife and that's a normal thing to be a loving and supportive husband.' Asked if there was any desire for reconciliation on Brooklyn's side, the source said it was impossible given the highly charged atmosphere. Sources close to Nicola have previously insisted that as 'an outsider coming into the Beckham family, she has helped Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within'. The claims – described as 'patently untrue and ludicrous' by friends of David and Victoria – were the 'nail in the coffin' of any future relationship, according to insiders. Despite this, sources close to Nicola claim she doesn't want any fighting and is upset by the feud being played out publicly. Her friends say she tried to integrate. 'Nicola was working hard to have a healthy relationship,' says one. Pals of the Beckhams dispute this, with one saying: 'It's hard to find a way back after absurd allegations of emotional abuse.' Despite Nicola's pals claiming she doesn't want a battle, in other facets of her life she is known to fight. Last week it emerged she had hired high-powered celebrity attorney 'Mad Dog' Marty Singer, who has represented stars such as Michael Jackson and Kim Kardashian. Nicola is suing a dog groomer she alleges is responsible for the death of her chihuahua Nala and French bulldog Frankie. It comes after previous legal battles with her wedding planners. A source said: 'Nicola's family haven't become billionaires by being shy and retiring... it's in their nature to fight for what they believe is right.' As for the feud with her in-laws, many wonder how it will ever resolve. Some say a big sign will be if Brooklyn acknowledges his sister Harper's 14th birthday next month – he did not publicly mark Victoria's 51st nor David's 50th this year. Brooklyn and Nicola have posted pictures of themselves with Harper, and he is thought to be very fond of his youngest sibling. A pal says: 'Brooklyn isn't talking to his mum and dad, as well as Romeo, because he disapproves of his girlfriend. 'But in that case this 'feud' should start and end with them… 'The fact he has distanced himself from the whole, extended family is what makes this so sad. Perhaps Harper's birthday – and an acknowledgement of it – will be the first steps towards a peace deal.' Watch this space next month – but at this rate peace looks a long way off.

The latest tribute to Nicola's family comes after claims Victoria Beckham left Nicola in tears on her wedding day in 2022. Sources told People magazine that Victoria allegedly 'hijacked' the first dance at Brooklyn's Palm Beach wedding. 'Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding,' one source said. Advertisement 'Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up…Victoria Beckham!'' Nicola reportedly 'felt that Victoria ruined her wedding, and couldn't understand why'. Another source said guests were shocked when Victoria started slow dancing with Brooklyn, leaving Nicola in tears. Furious Brooklyn Beckham convinced dad chose Romeo over him & Nicola as real reason for snubbing David's 50th revealed They added: 'It wasn't appropriate. Nicola felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola. What she couldn't understand was why.' Advertisement But a guest told The Sun this wasn't the case, saying Victoria was only pulled on stage by Marc. They said: 'After the first dance, Nicola danced with her dad, which is normally when the groom would dance with his mum, but that didn't happen. 'Later, Marc performed a few songs and pulled David and Victoria up on stage with him, then grabbed Brooklyn to dance with his mum. 'Harper danced with David, Cruz got up with Eva Longoria. It was a fun family moment and one dance. Advertisement 'No-one realised Nicola was upset as she just stormed out of the room. 'She came back later and the party continued. It's all just baffling. Everyone was mystified as to why Nicola would get so upset.' The rift reportedly started after Victoria and Nicola clashed over the wedding dress for Brooklyn and Nicola's 2022 nuptials. Nicola later told Variety she had planned to wear a Victoria Beckham design, but plans changed when the atelier couldn't finish the dress in time. Advertisement She said: 'She didn't say you can't wear it; I didn't say I didn't want to wear it. That's where it started, and then they ran with that.' Tensions have continued, with Brooklyn and Nicola failing to publicly acknowledge both David and Victoria's birthdays this year, fuelling speculation of an ongoing family feud. In return Brooklyn's gushing Instagram tribute to Nicola, 30, last week – where he wrote: 'My whole world. I will love you forever. I always choose you baby' – was ignored by his family. Insiders say David and Victoria are struggling to cope with the rift. Advertisement What do David Beckham's tattoos mean? Nicola Peltz wedding singer's 'jaw-dropping words' about Victoria Beckham
Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham tied the knot three years ago but their wedding is back in the headlines amid rumours of a rift between them and David and Victoria Beckham Nicola Peltz is said to have felt that her mother-in-law Victoria Beckham"ruined her wedding" to Brooklyn Beckham three years ago. It's claimed that she ended up being upset over a performance during the evening. Nicola, now 30, married Brooklyn, now 26, in April 2022. The groom's parents Victoria, now 51, and David Beckham, now 50, were among the guests at the star-studded ceremony, which was held in Palm Beach, Florida. The special occasion has attracted renewed interest lately amid rumours of a rift between the two high-profile couples in recent weeks. It's claimed that Victoria "hijacked" a dance meant for the newlyweds and that singer Marc Anthony, now 56, paid tribute to the mother-of-the-bride. The latest speculation comes following rumours of such a scenario at the time. A source told the Daily Mail back in 2022 that Nicola and Brooklyn chose Marc's ballad You Sang To Me after being asked by him to select their favourite song for him to "dedicate to them". Victoria allegedly "stole" it for a mother-son dance shortly before the couple were meant to dance to it. The source told the outlet: "Without any warning and at the request of Victoria, Marc switched it to a mother-son dance using the same song." It was reported that Nicola was upset over Victoria dancing with Brooklyn to a song chosen by the couple, rather than a tribute to her from Marc beforehand. Now, a source has similarly claimed to People that Victoria took a dance meant for the newlyweds. The source also alleged that singer Marc, who is said to be a friend of the Beckhams, described Victoria as the "most beautiful woman in the room" as he invited her to join Brooklyn. The source said: "Before the song began, [Marc] asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up... Victoria Beckham!'" It's also suggested that Nicola felt that Victoria "ruined her wedding" but "couldn't understand why". Another source told People that guests went silent after Victoria's name was called, rather than Nicola's. They said: "It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock - you could hear a pin drop." It's reported that guests are said to have been more surprised when Victoria began slow dancing with Brooklyn. A source said Nicola ran out of the room crying, adding: "[She] felt like Victoria did this on purpose, when she knew it was a pre-planned romantic dance meant for Brooklyn and Nicola." According to the outlet, though, a source said that the newlyweds had already done their formal first dance early in the evening. It's also suggested by them that the couple also had a second dance prior to Marc's performance. That source said that "later on," when things were more casual, the Grammy Award winner "got people dancing". They said that Brooklyn danced with his mother, and that David danced with his daughter Harper Beckham, now 13. The source added that "everyone had a great time". Addressing the speculation about the dance, a source told the Sun that the alleged situation continues to be the subject of different opinions within the family. They said: "From Nicola's perspective, it's no wonder she keeps bringing it up - what was meant to be the most special day of her life has been overtaken by events beyond her control." The source added: "For her part, Victoria, as a woman's woman, insists she would never deliberately derail her son's big day. It is all very sad, and right now I cannot see things ever being the way they were between Brooklyn and his parents."
