Nicole Kidman seeks residency in Portugal, eyes luxury European escape

LOS ANGELES, July 24: Nicole Kidman is seeking a permanent European retreat. The 58-year-old Oscar-winning actress recently applied for residency in Portugal, signaling her intention to spend more time in the sunny country. According to local media outlet SIC Notícias, Kidman submitted her application this week to Portugal's Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA). Recently spotted arriving on a private jet in Cascais, an affluent coastal area near Lisbon, Kidman is reportedly searching for a luxury home in one of Portugal's most exclusive gated communities. Interestingly, her husband Keith Urban's name was not included on any of the submitted documents. Kidman is believed to be interested in a property at CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, a 722-acre luxury development about 81 miles south of Lisbon. This high-end community is popular among celebrities such as George Clooney and Paris Hilton, and is also home to Princess Eugenie. It was also rumored that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bought a home there last year, reportedly paying over $4.7 million for one of the 300 residences planned in the complex. CostaTerra is part of the Discovery Land Company, founded by Mike Meldman, who co-invested with Clooney in the tequila brand Casamigos. While Urban hasn't filed any residency paperwork, Portuguese TV network TVI reported that he and Kidman already own a luxurious property in Lisbon. Representatives for Kidman have been contacted for comment. Kidman and the 57-year-old country singer share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. The family is known to split their time between the US and Australia, with Europe possibly becoming a new addition to their lifestyle. Since marrying in 2006, the couple has built an extensive international real estate portfolio. Almost two decades ago, they purchased two penthouses in Sydney's exclusive North Sydney Latitude building, combining them into one large condo. Their first joint property acquisition came a year after their wedding with a 36-acre estate in Franklin, Tennessee, purchased for over $3 million. The following year, they acquired a mansion in Nashville's prestigious Northumberland community, adding to their collection which also includes homes in Manhattan, Sydney, and New South Wales.

Nicole Kidman reportedly files residency application for Portugal with no mention of husband Keith Urban

Aussie movie star Nicole Kidman has lodged an application for residency in Portugal, multiple news outlets in the European country have claimed. Portuguese media outlet SIC Notícias broke the story on Tuesday and claimed the Oscar-winning actress has submitted residency paperwork to the country's Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA). According to SIC Notícias, Kidman is reportedly house hunting around the Costa Terra Golf & Ocean Club in Comporta. The luxury development is popular with global A-listers including George Clooney and Paris Hilton and is also a base for royal family member Princess Eugenie. The sunny European nation is popular with celebrities and jetsetters because of its ideal climate, favourable tax benefits and relative privacy. Meanwhile, Portuguese TV network TVI claims they have confirmed with Lisbon City Council that Kidman and Keith Urban already own an apartment in the Portuguese capital. The revelation comes after Kidman was recently spotted arriving at the Tires airfield in Cascais, a wealthy seaside enclave just outside of Lisbon. The Dead Calm star and her country star husband own an impressive globe-spanning property portfolio spanning Sydney, Los Angeles and Nashville. In Sydney, the couple own six combined apartments overlooking Sydney Harbour in Milson's Point. The Kidman-Urban clan also own a breathtaking 45-acre rural property called Bunya Hill in the Southern Highlands, complete with cattle and alpacas. Earlier this year, Kidman told the Hollywood Reporter she planned to spend 2025 taking a break after shooting multiple film and TV projects simultaneously. "I was much more out there last year; this year I have Holland, I have Nine Perfect Strangers, and then I'm off for the rest of year. So, oh well!' she said. In the past year, Kidman has starred in films A Family Affair, Babygirl, Spellbound and Holland and TV projects like The Perfect Couple, Lioness and Nine Perfect Strangers. The movie star's pledge to take time off appeared to be short-lived and Kidman is currently back on set with Sandra Bullock to film a sequel of the cult classic Practical Magic.

Nicole Kidman ‘Nine Perfect Strangers' retreat sold

The luxury home that was the setting of a Nicole Kidman hit mini-series has sold for a mega-million-dollar record-breaking price. The sold sticker went up on the 13-bedroom residence at 221 Kennedys Lane, Ewingsdale, in the Byron Bay hinterland yesterday and although Sotheby's agent Will Phillips wouldn't discuss the result, sources say fetched between $10m-$12m. It broke the suburb record. The stunning 13-bedroom residence with fire pit, outdoor cinema, heated pool, infrared sauna, icebath, massage room and geodesic yoga dome was completed in 2019. And a year later, production of Nine Perfect Strangers moved from California to Byron Bay due to Covid. The mini-series, based on Liane Moriarty's best-selling book, centres on nine 'strangers' who attend a a boutique health and wellness resort called Tranquillum House, seeking transformation and healing. The plan is that they shed their baggage and find a better way of living and Kidman is 'Masha, a Russian-born woman who runs the wellness retreat. Luke Evans is another one of the stars. In real life, the nine-hectare property is known as Soma, and it's owned by media and tech entrepreneur Peter Ostick and meditation guru Gary Gorrow. Gorrow was apparently giving guidance to the producers on the show's ceremonial and spiritual scenes. Ostick and Gorrow had bought the property for $1.8m in 2016, records show, and within two years they'd built the main residence with Gorrow assisting with the design along with his brother, the designer and Ksubi co-founder George Gorrow and the Indonesian architect Ricky Sunur. Described as 'one of Byron Shire's most iconic and photographed lifestyle properties' and having a 'Zen-like simplicity', Soma is just 10 minutes from the beach. The main house, surrounded by lychee rainforests, ancient fig trees and lush bamboo, has a range of living and entertainment zones. There are 10 'indulgent' bedroom suites with hardwood decks and views to take in incredible sunsets. It has a current potential earning capacity of more than $1.8m per annum. Apart from being a remarkable holiday rental or site of another blockbuster movie or mini-series, it would be an ideal private home, family compound or retreat. Phillips wouldn't reveal the identity of the purchaser.
