Texas Longhorns guard Jordan Lee wins gold with Team USA
Texas Longhorns women's basketball had a reason to celebrate on Sunday. Star guard Jordan Lee earned her second gold medal with USA Basketball when Team USA won gold in the 2025 FIBA Women's U19 World Cup. As Team USA cruised to an 88-76 win over Australia on Sunday, Lee played a key role. During the tournament, Lee played in all seven games. The Saint Mary's High School product was a human highlight as she made an impact on both ends of the court. In the World Cup game, Lee scored seven points while dishing out four assists. She also was a menace on the boards with ten rebounds. While Lee is celebrating another significant milestone, this is not unfamiliar territory. She won gold with Team USA during the 2024 FIBA Women's U18 AmeriCup in Colombia. The California native was also part of the 2024 USA Women's Nike Hoop Summit team that defeated the World Select squad. She was the best player on the court, leading all players with a +17 plus/minus in that game. With the 2025-2026 campaign just a few months away, Lee will again be an important piece for the Longhorns. She is coming off a strong freshman year, in which she earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors. Lee scored in double figures in ten games. However, her best play came during March Madness. In the final four, the Longhorns' star scored 16 points against South Carolina. While the Longhorns' run unfortunately came to an end against the Gamecocks, Lee was part of history. Last season marked the first time that Texas advanced to the Final Four in 22 years. With another year of experience, Lee should be an exciting player to watch when the regular season begins.

Duke commit Dame Sarr named to Italy's training camp roster for 2025 EuroBasket
Duke five-star commit Dame Sarr is among the 18 players selected to the Italian national team's preliminary roster for the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket Championship. Sarr, born in Oderzo, debuted with the senior team in the 2025 EuroBasket qualifiers in February, logging three appearances. He has also represented Italy at the junior level three times, most recently at the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket. The 19-year-old will be joined in training camp by Donte DiVincenzo, Simone Fontecchio, Danilo Gallinari, Nicolò Melli and Saliou Niang, among others. The group is expected to begin practicing on July 23 before the start of the tournament on Aug. 27. Sarr committed to Duke on May 22 over other programs such as Illinois, Kansas and Oregon. He split time over the past three years with Barcelona's first and second teams, becoming the second-youngest player to log minutes with the senior team in January 2024 (16). The 6-foot-8 guard represented Italy on Team World at the Nike Hoop Summit in April, recording 17 points and four rebounds in 25 minutes in a loss against Team USA in Portland, Oregon. He was the second-leading scorer on the team, trailing only Baylor commit Tounde Yessoufou. Sarr will now spend time with the Italian national team before joining the Blue Devils next season. He doesn't project to make the final roster, but the opportunity to train alongside several notable veteran players should prove to be a valuable experience for him.

Utah Jazz rookie Ace Bailey sends quiet message with jersey choice amid lingering draft night controversy
Ace Bailey. Image via: Tyler Tate/ AP Amid swirling speculation and early doubts surrounding his NBA future, Utah Jazz rookie Ace Bailey has begun crafting his own narrative. After being selected No. 5 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, Bailey faced intense scrutiny about his commitment to the franchise. By showing up in Utah and picking an unexpected jersey number, Bailey quietly signaled he's ready for a fresh start. He will wear jersey no.19 for the Jazz. Ace Bailey's surprising jersey choice hints at a fresh start with the Utah Jazz after draft day questions The conversation around Ace Bailey shifted dramatically in just a matter of days. ESPN reports leading into the draft revealed that Utah was not among Bailey's 'preferred destinations,' and even suggested he had warned a top-five team not to draft him. The buzz grew louder when it was reported that Bailey canceled a workout with the Philadelphia 76ers, who held the third pick. But the noise faded fast once Bailey addressed the media in Salt Lake City. 'No,' he replied when asked if he hesitated to report to Utah. 'No, not at all. I mean, just blessed to be in this position. Not a lot of people sit in these chairs and have great teammates as I got on [here]. So I'm just blessed to be here.' Upon arriving in Utah, the former Rutgers standout was taken aback by the mountain views and warm reception. 'As soon as I got off the plane, I didn't think the mountains was real,' Bailey said. 'I mean, it was so beautiful. Seeing that scenery, just getting off that plane and meeting the coaches — it was all great.' His choice of jersey number has also been the talk of the town. Bailey will wear No. 19 for the Jazz. In high school, at Rutgers, and even with Team USA at the Nike Hoop Summit, Bailey wore No. 4. However, that number is retired in Utah in honor of Adrian Dantley. Instead of trying to negotiate for a similar number or make a fuss, Bailey chose 19. It was indeed a rare pick in Jazz history worn by just five players, including Raja Bell and Svi Mykhailiuk. Bailey is expected to suit up for both the Salt Lake City Summer League and the Las Vegas Summer League. As for what he brings to the table, he was clear: 'I got great energy. I mean, I can do everything from rebounding, from defense to scoring to passing,' he said. 'So I say I could bring a lot in different ways.'
