Top international prospect Dame Sarr commits to Duke
Duke gained a commitment from Dame Sarr, the top international 2025 prospect, on Thursday, helping the Blue Devils to ease the sting of losing four of their top five scorers to the 2025 NBA Draft. The 18-year-old announced his commitment to Duke via ESPN, calling it "my dream school." "My ultimate goal is to play in the NBA," Sarr said. "There's no better place to prepare you for that than Duke." A 6-foot-8 wing from Oderzo, Italy, Sarr made his Spanish ACB league debut for Barcelona in 2023. Then 16, Sarr became the second-youngest player in club history. He had a strong performance at the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Ore., in April, where he recorded 17 points and four boards in 25 minutes against the top high school players in the United States, including future Duke teammates Cameron and Cayden Boozer. Sarr's commitment further bolsters the Blue Devils' recruiting class, which ranks third in the nation, according to the 247Sports composite behind only Houston and Arizona. --Field Level Media Field Level Media 2023 - All Rights Reserved

Duke commit Dame Sarr to skip 2025 EuroBasket Championship with Italy
Duke five-star commit Dame Sarr won't play with the Italian national team in the 2025 EuroBasket Championship from Aug. 27-Sept. 14, the federation announced. Sarr, born in Oderzo, was excused from joining the team this summer by coach Gianmarco Pozzecco to focus on making the transition to Duke. Pozzecco confirmed that Sarr is a player the organization would welcome back and consider for future tournaments. The 19-year-old was among the players selected to the preliminary roster that began training camp on July 23, along with Donte DiVincenzo, Simone Fontecchio and Danilo Gallinari, among others. He debuted with the senior team in February and has also appeared at the junior level. Sarr committed to Duke on May 22 over other programs such as Illinois, Kansas and Oregon. He split time over the past three years with Barcelona's first and second teams, becoming the second-youngest player to log minutes with the senior team in January 2024 (16). The 6-foot-8 guard represented Italy on Team World at the Nike Hoop Summit in April, recording 17 points and four rebounds in 25 minutes in a loss against Team USA in Portland, Oregon. He was the second-leading scorer on the team, trailing only Baylor commit Tounde Yessoufou. Sarr now joins the Blue Devils' top-ranked recruiting class for 2025, along with Cameron Boozer (No. 3), Nikolas Khamenia (No. 15) and Cayden Boozer (No. 23). He is considered a potential lottery pick in the 2026 NBA draft because of his size, experience and versatility as a defender.

Texas Longhorns guard Jordan Lee wins gold with Team USA
Texas Longhorns women's basketball had a reason to celebrate on Sunday. Star guard Jordan Lee earned her second gold medal with USA Basketball when Team USA won gold in the 2025 FIBA Women's U19 World Cup. As Team USA cruised to an 88-76 win over Australia on Sunday, Lee played a key role. During the tournament, Lee played in all seven games. The Saint Mary's High School product was a human highlight as she made an impact on both ends of the court. In the World Cup game, Lee scored seven points while dishing out four assists. She also was a menace on the boards with ten rebounds. While Lee is celebrating another significant milestone, this is not unfamiliar territory. She won gold with Team USA during the 2024 FIBA Women's U18 AmeriCup in Colombia. The California native was also part of the 2024 USA Women's Nike Hoop Summit team that defeated the World Select squad. She was the best player on the court, leading all players with a +17 plus/minus in that game. With the 2025-2026 campaign just a few months away, Lee will again be an important piece for the Longhorns. She is coming off a strong freshman year, in which she earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors. Lee scored in double figures in ten games. However, her best play came during March Madness. In the final four, the Longhorns' star scored 16 points against South Carolina. While the Longhorns' run unfortunately came to an end against the Gamecocks, Lee was part of history. Last season marked the first time that Texas advanced to the Final Four in 22 years. With another year of experience, Lee should be an exciting player to watch when the regular season begins.

Nets sign 19th overall pick Nolan Traoré to rookie scale contract
French guard Nolan Traoré, the 19th overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, signed his rookie-scale contract with the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, the team announced. Traoré was the Champions League Best Young Player after averaging 12.2 points, 4.7 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 44 appearances with Saint-Quentin in France. He registered seven 20-point games, including a 25-point effort on May 9. Advertisement He will make $3,811,560 next season, according to Spotrac.
