Nishad Party to go solo in panchayat elections
Varanasi: UP minister of fisheries Sanjay Kumar Nishad on Thursday said the Nishad Party, a constituent of NDA in Uttar Pradesh, will contest the three-tier panchayat elections in 2025 independently in Nishad-dominated areas. "The party will field its candidates for district panchayat member and BDC positions. After the election results, support will be given to the alliance partner BJP for the chairman and block chief positions," he told reporters. He was in city on Thursday to attend the "fish farmers' fair and caste census seminar" held at Nagari Natak Mandali in the Kabirchaura area. He added that the move was in line with the aspirations of party workers who had toiled hard for years. "The alliance will remain intact, but there will be no compromise on the rights and dignity of the workers. Our party's aim is not to criticise any party but to be the voice of our community. The blood of 101% of the fishing community runs in the veins of the Nishad Party, and we will never let the hopes of the community be shattered. Our ideology will reach from the village to the capital," he said. Addressing the seminar, Nishad provided information about the schemes run by the fisheries department. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scam Exposed: What They Won't Tell You about zero trust! There is ongoing pressure on the govt to include sub-castes like Majhwar, Turaeha, Bind, Nishad, Kevat, Dheewar, Kashyap, etc, in the SC category. Citing the 1961 census report, the 2016 notification, and the Uttarakhand model, he emphasised that they should be issued SC certificates in Uttar Pradesh as well to ensure meaningful participation in the schemes. CM ‘voice of community':Sanjay Nishad
Gorakhpur: An awareness rally, led by Uttar Pradesh fisheries minister and NISHAD party chief Sanjay Nishad was taken out in Gorakhpur on Monday. Addressing reporters, Sanjay Nishad made a sharp remark, stating, "Jo Nishad Party ka jhanda uthae wahi mera bhai hai, jo na uthae wahi kasai hai" — equating those not supporting the party with butchers. He further elaborated that individuals from the community who do not chant 'Jai Nishad Raj' or align with the rival political outfits are harming the community's progress, similar to butchers slaughtering animals. Referring to former minister Jamuna Nishad, he claimed that slogans like 'Jai Bhim' and 'Jai Samajwad' had yielded little benefit, emphasizing the need for community solidarity under the NISHAD Party banner. The minister praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , calling him the "voice of the Nishad community ". He noted that Yogi, even during his tenure as an MP, had raised the demand for granting SC status to the Nishad community, and now, as the CM, the expectations are higher than ever. He alleged that despite a directive from the Registrar General of India (RGI), implementation at the state level remains pending and urged the Bharatiya Janata Party to honour its promise. Highlighting welfare initiatives, he said the fisheries department would extend support to the community members in areas including education, healthcare (even without an Ayushman card), and assistance in marriage.

Vakola cops file FIR against BMC staffer, painter who rented out their Santacruz properties
Two Santacruz (E) residents -- a BMC employee and a painter -- faced legal action for failing to register their tenants' details with police while letting out commercial and residential properties. Both were summoned to Vakola police station for inquiry. In the first case, following a tip-off, police filed an FIR against painter Rajesh Nishad (40), for renting his house in Prabhat Colony to Rajesh Kawatra without proper police registration. While gathering information about new tenants in the locality, we found that he did not register his new tenant's details," said an officer from Vakola police station. In the second instance, BMC employee Anil Rathod (42) was charged for renting out his shop to Devji Vaviya without proper documentation. "When a police team visited Rathod's shop, upon questioning an employee, Manish Mishra (24), they found that Vaviya had taken it on rent to run his garments business, but Rathod did not register the tenant details," said the officer. Police charged both Nishad and Rathod under BNS section 223 for disobeying orders issued by authorised public servants. A senior IPS officer explained that Mumbai property owners must obtain police verification when letting properties. Tenant verification forms, available online or at police stations, require comprehensive details about landlords and tenants, including full names, photographs, addresses and contact information. The officer detailed that tenant information must include complete personal details, employment information, and photographs. The Mumbai Police verification form requires two references. If a property agent facilitates the transaction, their details must also be included in the verification form. The senior IPS officer emphasised that property owners, estate agents, or advocates must complete the verification process, either online or in person. Additionally, a copy of the leave-and-licence agreement must be submitted. Verification is also mandatory during rental agreement renewals. Non-compliance can result in a Rs 3,000 fine and potential one-month imprisonment for landlords.
