Nissan Magnite CNG: Here are 5 things to know about the SUV before you decide to buy

Nissan has debuted the CNG version of its well-liked Magnite compact SUV, with prices beginning at ₹6.89 lakh (ex-showroom). In contrast to many competitors that provide factory-installed CNG kits, the Magnite CNG features a dealer-level retrofit, meaning the CNG kit is added at authorised centres post-manufacturing. This method grants customers a more adaptable and budget-friendly option to shift to cleaner fuel, appealing to environmentally conscious buyers. In the Indian market, the Magnite CNG competes with models like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG, Tata Punch iCNG, and Hyundai Exter CNG. While these rivals come with factory-ready kits, the Magnite distinguishes itself by utilising a dealership-based installation approach that reduces the cost. Here's five things to know before you decide on buying the Nissan Magnite CNG. ₹ 6.14 - 11.76 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 6.15 - 9.02 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 7.54 - 13.06 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 7.74 - 13.04 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 7.3 - 10.17 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon ₹ 6.21 - 10.51 Lakhs Offers Expiring soon The CNG kit installed in the Magnite is crafted, produced, and quality-tested by Motozen, an external vendor. It features a 12 kg single-cylinder system and is fitted at government-approved service centres. Motozen offers warranty coverage for the components of the CNG kit, and Nissan maintains its standard three-year or 1 lakh km warranty on the vehicle, even post-retrofitment. Nissan is rolling out the Magnite CNG gradually. Initially, it will launch in seven states—Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka. The company intends to broaden availability to additional states in the subsequent phase. (Also read: Nissan India remains steadfast on commitments despite shift in global strategy) The retrofit kit is priced at ₹75,000 and is compatible with any variant of the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol Magnite. With the base petrol model starting at ₹6.14 lakh, the CNG version is available from ₹6.89 lakh (both ex-showroom). This positions it among the most economical CNG-equipped SUVs in India, particularly compared to those with factory-installed kits. Nissan has not yet unveiled official performance metrics for the CNG variant. Nonetheless, it is anticipated to have marginally lower power output than the petrol version, similar to other CNG vehicles. The CNG Magnite is projected to achieve 24 km/kg in urban settings and up to 30 km/kg on highways, making it a cost-effective choice for daily commuting. Nissan India plans four new models including C-SUV, Triber-based MPV and mass-market EV

Nissan Motor India is commited to its previously announced plans for India and will be launching four new cars including a B-segment MPV based on the Renault Triber platform. Check Offers Nissan India recently reaffirmed its commitment to previously announced plans for the Indian market. Speaking at a recent press conference, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, emphasised that India remains a key market for the company and that its previously disclosed product strategy remains on track. Nissan India had earlier announced that it will be launching a new seven-seater B-segment MPV as part of its future lineup in the country. This takes the upcoming product pipeline to a total of four new models, including a five-seater and a seven-seater C-SUV alongside a mass-market EV. Nissan has stated that the B-MPV, as well as the five-seater C-SUV, are currently in the pre-production phase, and both will be launched in 2026. With development underway, let us take a look at what's expected from Nissan in the coming years: Renault Triber-based seven-seater B-MPV: The first of the upcoming cars from Nissan will be a seven-seater B-MPV based on the Renault Triber while carrying a unique design. Nissan will kick things off with the upcoming B-segment MPV, expected to launch in early 2026. This three-row seven-seater will be based on the CMF-A+ platform that currently underpins the Renault Triber. However, it is being positioned as a standalone model rather than a simple rebadged iteration, and Nissan has stated it will bring a distinct design and interior. This MPV is expected to carry over the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder that powers the Triber with 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque, mated to either a five-speed manual or automatic. Renault Duster-based five-seater C-SUV: Nissan is also developing a five-seater mid-size SUV for India. Based on the CMF-B platform, it shares its underpinnings with the Renault Duster with a distinctive exterior and interior design. The second model from Nissan to hit the streets will be a five-seater C-segment SUV, expected to launch later in 2026. This SUV will be based on the CMF-B platform that underpins the Renault Duster. The automaker says the model will borrow design cues from the globally available Nissan Patrol and will offer a high approach and departure angle. The upcoming mid-size SUV will take on the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It will be manufactured locally at Nissan's Chennai plant and is expected to carry over the 1.2-litre three-cylinder mild-hybrid that drives the Duster. Dacia Bigster-based seven-seater C-SUV: Nissan will follow up the MPV and the C-SUV with the launch of a seven-seater SUV, expected to launch by 2027. This model will be based on a longer wheelbase version of the CMF-B platform that underpins the Dacia Bigster, a stretched-out iteration of the Duster. However, Nissan has confirmed that the model will feature a distinctive exterior and interior design and will not be just a stretched-out version. It is expected to be positioned against premium seven-seater SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar and the MG Hector Plus. Now, Renault has been working on a mass-market Kwid EV for some time, and it is expected to be rebadged for the Japanese automaker. The Kwid EV is itself based on the Dacia Spring EV, which is powered by a 26.8 kWh battery, promising a single-charge range of up to 225 km. It comes with features such as a 10.1-inch infotainment display, a 7-inch digital cluster, ADAS, and more. While Nissan is expected to launch its EV by 2027, an official timeline is not available at present. Check out Upcoming Cars in India 2024, Best SUVs in India. Nissan India remains steadfast on commitments despite shift in global strategy

Nissan India plans to launch three new products by FY27 - a seven seater B-Segment MPV along with a 5 seater and a 7 seater C-Segment SUVs Check Offers Nissan India is committed to its previously announced plans and growth trajectory for the Indian market, even as the global automotive giant navigates significant strategic shifts. The resolute stance was made clear recently by the company officials amidst recent industry speculation regarding its long-term presence, particularly following adjustments to its global manufacturing footprint and alliance structures. Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, during a recent press conference, underscored this unwavering resolve, emphasizing that despite changes to Nissan's worldwide plans, the company's commitment to India remains steadfast and its local initiatives are progressing as scheduled. Nissan's global operations have been grappling with significant financial headwinds, with fiscal year 2024 seeing the company report a considerable net loss and a sharp decline in operating profit. In response to this, Nissan launched its comprehensive "RE: Nissan" recovery plan. The idea here is to drive efficiency and profitability across its operations by having job cuts, factory closures, and extensive cost reduction efforts. India's part in the play It is against this backdrop of global realignment that Nissan India's pronouncements gain further significance. Vatsa directly acknowledged these global shifts, stating emphatically that "Despite changes to global plans made to Nissan, Nissan India remains committed to announced plans and the plans are on track." He further clarified the manufacturing arrangement, explaining that while Renault now holds 100 per cent of the Chennai plant, Nissan has secured crucial production capacity through a contract manufacturing agreement. Vatsa explained that this allows Nissan India to convert fixed manufacturing costs into more flexible variable costs, enhancing agility and freeing up capital for future investments. Nissan India's ambitious plans for future Contrary to the recent reports, Vatsa emphasises that Nissan India is charting an aggressive growth trajectory, underpinned by a substantial €700 million (approximately ₹ 6,300 crore) investment primarily dedicated to new product development. This was announced earlier, and Vatsa pointed out that the investments are on track. The company has set ambitious production and sales targets, aiming to double annual sales to two lakh units by FY2026-27, with one lakh units designated for domestic sales and one lakh for exports. Vatsa affirmed that the Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd (RNAIPL) plant in Chennai, with its total installed annual capacity of 4.8 lakh units, is sufficiently equipped to meet these mid-term goals, providing sufficient capacity for the next five years. Also Read : Nissan bets big on Magnite facelift to kickstart its turnaround journey Central to this expansion is a robust product pipeline. Nissan India had earlier announced its plans to launch a new seven seater B-segment MPV, which is likely to be based on the Renault Triber along with a 5 seater and seven seater C-Segment SUVs. The 7-seater B-segment MPV is expected in Q1 2026, while the 5-seater C-segment SUV slated for mid-2026, Vatsa confirmed. The C-Segment SUV will share its underpinnings with the upcoming Renault Duster. Additionally, a 7-seater C-segment SUV is planned for early 2027. According to Vatsa, this model will provide a unique design for both the outside and the inside and will not be just a stretched version of the 5-seater - indicating a wider strategic intent in the lucrative SUV segments. In addition to fresh models, Nissan India is looking to grow its physical presence - it intends to grow its dealership network from about 160 outlets to 180 by the end of 2025 and aims to end this fiscal year with 300 touchpoints.
