The movie will star Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. Set to release in two parts, the epic saga now has a new cast member. If the latest updates are to be believed, Vivek Oberoi has been roped in to play a pivotal role. The first instalment of the movie will arrive in theatres on Diwali 2026. As the film continues to make headlines, let's take a look at the star cast of Ramayana. Leading the talented ensemble cast is Ranbir Kapoor who plays Lord Rama in the film. Joining him to play Sita is Sai Pallavi. She will make her Bollywood debut with the mythological drama. One of the most talked about characters in the film is Ravana, who will be played by Kannada superstar Yash. The project will mark the KGF actor's entry into Hindi cinema. On the other hand, Sunny Deol takes on the role of Lord Hanuman. According to reports, Amitabh Bachchan has reportedly been roped in to play Jatayu. Meanwhile, Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Kaikeyi, Mandodari and Surpanakha. The list does not end here. Mohit Raina, who gained fame for portraying Lord Shiva in Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev, will reprise his role in the Ramayana. Ravi Dubey is also a part of the cast and will be seen essaying the role of Lakshman. Arun Govil, who played Ram in Ramanand Sagar's TV series Ramayan, will be back on the big screens as King Dasharath. Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra, Vivek Oberoi as Vidhyutjiva, and Adinath Kothare as Bharat make up the supporting cast. Anil Kapoor and Vikrant Massey may portray King Janaka and Prince Meghnad, respectively. However, a source dismissed the rumours regarding their casting. Recent reports suggest that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the first promo of Ramayana. 'Had Ranbir's hair and beard not been long in Animal, I don't think his character would have the same impact," Aalim told Galatta India. 'Vanga sir initially said the long hair isn't working… I had to convince him that once the full look was in place, it wouldn't resemble Sanju." The work on Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana has been going on in full swing, with actors undergoing intense training for action sequences. Actor Yash, who will be seen donning the role of Ravana in the magnum opus, is currently working with popular Hollywood stunt director, Guy Norris, to shoot massive action sequences. Recent images from the set show Yash in peak physical form -- ripped, intense, and battle-ready. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana Part 1 is slated for release on Diwali 2026, and the second part on Diwali 2027. Reportedly, Ranbir Kapoor will play the role of Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Kajal Aggarwal joins Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana as Mandodari opposite Yash's Ravana
Nitesh Tiwari's screen adaptation of Ramayan is one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of Bollywood. Ranbir Kapoor is all set to play the role of Lord Ram while Sai Pallavi will be playing Sita. If the latest reports are to believed Kajal Aggarwal has also joined the star-studded cast of the film. (Also read: Sunny Deol confirms being part of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, says 'they are trying to make it like Avatar') According to a news report by India Today, Kajal will be seen playing the role of Mandodari opposite Yash who will take on the character of Ravana in the film. According the the report, Kajal has started shooting for the film already. "The role of Mandodari in Ramayana is incredibly crucial. Therefore, it was imperative for the makers to cast a well-established leading actress who could fully embody the complexities and significance of Ravana's wife, opposite Yash," a source told India Today. "The makers sought an actress with a strong presence across languages. While many actresses were considered, including those from Bollywood, Kajal Aggarwal's celebrated name in both the North and the South made her the ideal choice," a production insider added. Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana boasts an ensemble cast, including Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and Lara Dutta in pivotal roles. It is set to release in two parts, with the first part scheduled for Diwali 2026 and the second part in 2027. In an interview with Hindustan Times, producer Namit Kapoor said, Namit says his team understands the need to tell the story properly. "We're trying to be very careful and cautious, that we do it with the utmost care and with the utmost sensitivity.
